  • @SouthHBound

Comrade, this is a war against imperialism. Everyone must choose a side.

The Irish liberation stuggle is just one part of the broad anti-imperial struggle.

  • This was the song convinced me to join the volunteers

  • british you mean

  • Hey, its just a song!

And a good one too, written in the early 1920s during the Civil War to parody the Daily Mail's so-called war-reports of the time.

It was said that the actual Daily Mail reporter wrote his pieces from Hollyhead from snippets of misinformation he'd heard from travelers!

  • No it wouldn't be surprising at all!

  • ah the daily mail.... they supported the british union of fascists right up until it became an internment offense. they persecute all those who they arent sympathetic to. very much like a british equivalent of FOX

  • pity that insulting one another dosent change jack shit, gie yersels piece

  • I think its just a daily mail reporter from England reporting on Ireland in a time of revolt

  • Does anyone body know who the man from the daily mail was, i.e. what was his name & what did he say ?

  • there is a mention in a book called the Green Flag which mentions a reporter from England but does not mention the paper or what he said

  • I think this song is just satirizing how the Daily Mail presented events in Ireland; it doesn't refer to anyone specific.

  • Of course, Ireland has its OWN Daily Mail now!

    :)

  • English papers outsell Irish ones in Ireland, what does that tell you?

  • not surprising, considering all the fukin brit soldiers, ya wank

  • Well rudibadlad stay off the wacky baccy then you might make a sensible comment. Yes English papers do outsell Irish ones but unless you no something we dont I am not aware of ANY british soldiers in the Republic and those in the north have been reduced considerably so its not soldiers buyiing british papers. At least in the north there are decent papers Irish News, Newslette,r Belfast Telegraph

  • yeah cos they are better value for money than Andrex!

  • well newspapers are a really green product. first use them as a tablecloth, then after youve read them in the toilet use them. Eklection times always good as you can use the election leaflets, the SDLP ones are about the best

  • Wow are you huns poor, newspapers for a tablecloth, times must be really hard for you lot!

  • I was just showing how green you can be with a newspaper, I also forgot to mention you can read them before you use them as a tablecloth (I know you can only look at the pictures LOL) Anyway Happy New Year, another year past and another year nearer the centennial celebrations for the establishment of the Stormont Parliament, maybe the republic & the North could hold joint celebrations, although you were a year or two late sorting yourselves out, what with you killing each other in the Civil War

  • Yes, more loyalist shit speak, and your point is what exactly dear hun?

  • Lighten up, its a new year soon and now we are the same nationality just look at the colour of the passports and they both have EUROPEAN COMMUNITY on the top so there you have it, we are all European citzens, I do trust you stand up for our joint "national anthem". Tell me one thing why do you call me a hun, whats that supposed to mean, admittedly I was overseas for a while so I obviously missed out on this new piece of slang, it used to mean German

  • No i dont stand up for it(Theres far better tunes than that about). Hmm best look up some history my dear friend regards where all you loyalist scum stem from, and what you really stand for, please tell us all. Are you still as hateful and bigoted as your predecessors? Well if you are then, may god rest your soul.

    TAL

  • I dont have to look up history books as I know where both parts of my family come from and that is Kerry & Westmeath, my brother lived for a while in William Street, Derry(thats worth a look in the history books, especially 1969) not exactly a loyalist area.Loyualists dont have a monopoly on bigotry, I think U proved that & as for where loyalists come from , lets see there was O'Neil and Ken Maginnis, both Irish names, then we have good old Irish name Gerry Adams. Dont try to oversimplify things

  • What a bawbag you are

and lest we forget, watch the bullet,

your name may be on it,

    you loyalist bigot cunt!

  • Yet again a republican uses abuse and threats cos he cant win the argument. Well when it comes to bullets I am trained and can handle a 45 although a .33 is a little more fun as you dont have to concentrate because of the kick when you fire. Also, pick the right spots when you use it then it become a t6ool for torture. I probaly could find a bullet for you first..The people of the South were robbed of a workers republic and is corrupt, so I dont see it as a nice place to be joined to

  • I aint go no argument with any of you racist bigots, just sheer and utter contempt. Now I shall remove myself from your brain.

  • at least I have a brain, your comments they are all abusive or inane. You make stupid comments accusing me of being racist. Sinn Fein say that loyalists are fellow Irishmen. They have been in Ireland for about as long as there have been white men in america, so I think tprotestants have the right of irish nationality by now Yet you would wish to deny the fact.(U wouldnt tell an american he is not American You obviously have no wish for reconciliation but at least you help the cause of unionism.

  • You love your Queen and all she stands for, yet you still have not yet grasped the language! Trained with a gun you say, so the army must still be signing up illitorate fools.

Now just fuck off and keep with your own bigoted likeminded kin.

  • Firstly I was not trained in the services or police, 2ndly I support a republican system for Britain. Thirdly you couldnt even spell illiterate, it is obvious that words of more than 4 letters confuse you. The Queen is a figurehead for the ruling classes who have the real power. History shows that the monarch is not supreme look how many were removed from the throne when they didnt suit the powers to be. Now get back to nursey school & dont bother to say anything till you grow up & get educated.

  • the daily mail newspapper is pish.this make a laugh like it is. tiocfaidh ar la

  • good 1

  • Utter wank!

  • utter trout

  • yes I agree, this video is as fishy as a dutch whore's cunt..and as shitty as Big Jock Stein's pimply arse!

  • you're only rippin because you're a hun

  • ya drip of incompetence from a dirty orange sack.

  • lulz? gone away and take your steroids and get that money the cops owe ye.

  • just fuck off home seriously, i'm far to hungover to even think of your peoples injustices.

  • too fuckin right it's unoriginal, it's fuckin true that's why. collusion is not an illusion.

  • The Daily Mail is just fascist and racist fear mongering, nobody reads the daily mail, some old grey haired braindead cunts look at it, if you see one, stab the cunt.

  • if ever I do see them reading it...I'm very temped i can tell you!

  • ireland= divided we fall, united we stand!!

  • has anyone else heard this verse? Well the other day I ventured down to Clare sir And I saw the IRA Training teenagers clutching wooden rifles Looks likes their here to stay They marched to the german goose step And to Hitler they said 'heil' And for telling all you lot At the next dawn I'll be shot Said the man from the Daily Mail I heard it in Derry but have failed to find it on the net
  • hahahahahahahahahahaha lol lol lol!

  • fuck them

  • Balls to the Daily Mail!

  • YEAH FUCK EM

  • tells u bout house price scares LOL

  • LOL

  • I love this song my nan returned to ireland brought back this song because her Uncle was sean macdermotte who was oine of the leaders of the easter rising and my fammily were runners for the ira

  • This is the version I like... Great song thanks!!!

  • I think I like more the "yo ho" one.

  • Have a look at mine..

  • Yea me2 lol. I just listened to this one outa curiosty lol.

  • me too!But what are the lyrics when it says "yo-ho,i 'm a...?

  • ... Provo."

(nickname for a member of the IRA)

  • yo-ho, I'm a provo (Provisional IRA)

  • This is "the Blackthorn" from Belfast. The original Blackthorn... lead singer in this song is Bob Morris.

  • Is this the band "Blackthorn" living in PA, USA? If so, Michael Callaghan, rock-on my brother!!!! The Dublin boy misses the crack!

  • Am I right in saying this is taken from the LP "Lid of me Granny's bin"? Great song and great group!

  • I've a few copies of this song on different albums. Mostly Irish Rebel Complilitions, but I took this one from The Best of Blackthorn by Pegasus Entertainment. Dunno where you'd get it though... I got it at Nutts Corner market.
