I think its beautiful how respectful they were towards each other. And how beautifully he sang both anthems. I watched a video that appalled me, the crowd was booing to the anthem of their opposing country. I felt ashamed. This makes me feel like we still have good people from America. I remember growing up in Buffalo and hearing Doug Allen perform the anthems countless times :) Which leads me to wonder - WHY DIDN'T WE HAVE A GUY LIKE HIM SING AT SUPER BOWL XLV?!

I'm sorry, but the way Aguilera sang the anthem was just too flamboyant and over-the-top - Doug, on the other hand, has that sort of voice that'd you'd WANT to hear!

@kingofallwhites you're the dick. Oh Canada is sung at every Sabres game. It is done out of respect for Canada due to our proximity. It is also sung out respect for the hockey players who are mostly Canadian. Most people in Buffalo know the anthem and sing it but I guess that isn't good enough for you. If it would make it better for you, go to Montreal and boo the American anthem when it is played.

The fans are joining in. I've never been to a Sabres game and not heard the people around me joining in with the anthems. The fans are simply being drowned out by the pipe organ in the video.

Yes. There are a lot of Canadians from Southern Ontario who are Sabres fans and come to games, so out of respect, they sing both anthems at every game, regardless of the opponent.

Doug Allen came to my school on February 10, 2009. He sang both O Canada and The Star Spangled Banner and we got his autographs and everything. IT WAS SOO COOL! and he was wearing a sabres jersey with ALLEN on the back of it with jeans and he looked so casual and calm. He let us sing along to Star Spangled Banner and he has this like circle thing that he puts in his mouth to adjust the Volume that he is singing. And he answered alot of our questions. omg it was just like the best day of my life!

Doug is originally from Western New York. Call him the busiest anthem singer in the NHL because, regardless of opponent, the Sabres honor both countries with their anthems for every game. It has to do with Buffalo's proximity to Canada.

Doug works during the day as the maintenance man at a women and children's shelter in Buffalo. Additionally, he directs the music and leads the worship at a church.
