In secondary school, there were these two guys in my class who would always sit in the back next to each other, cracking jokes. At one point, my english teacher began calling them mr. Waldorf and mr. Statler.
Thanks Trainsz to upload... sooooo funny this two charaters.... hahaha. genial! When I get old, hope I can remember this two guys and be like them with my friends having a lot of fun then.... hahaha
Statler and Waldorf should be the benchmak for most of the old people....
My total respects Jim Henson, wherever you are... rip :( the world miss you!
You put a lot of smiles in many million of faces (and without vulgarity as today´s low brains people stupid crap) .Greetings from Mexico
Well, the original puppeteers of both Statler & Waldorf (Jim Henson and Richard Hunt) both died. Nothing can be done about that. Still, I think Dave Goelz does a great job as Waldorf and so did Jerry Nelson as Statler. Now that Nelson has retired and Steve Whitmire has taken over Statler, he sounds a lot more like Hunt.
Weird how Statler & Waldorf are elderly men, but Henson and Hunt both died too young (Henson at 53 and Hunt at 40).
I think the change in voice actors was probably very jarring for people who've gotten used to hearing the same voices for so many years. I don't think I would ever be able to adjust to that.
Yeah, I agree, especially because Jerry Nelson's Statler was based off of his original from when he used to play him, rather than Richard Hunt's, and it took a while for Dave Goelz's voice to match up to Jim's.
Classic. Though, is it just me or are the jokes just not as punchy as they were in the original show? I say this after watching the 7 minutes worth of punchlines between the two.
And even to this day, Muppets Tonight surpasses Engines tonight in every conceivable way ^_^

You know, this show really improves with age.
Why, because the jokes get better?
No, because my hearing gets worse!

Except in 101 of Muppets Tonight, where Waldorf was played by Kevin Clash.
