I read somewhere in an interpretation of the ending, Rorschach has a very 'black and white' view of the world and morality, symbolized partly in his mask. The black and whtie parts shift but never mix. At the end, he's given the choice to either serve the truth and destroy utopia, or protect the lie, and chose his path knowing Manhatten would be forced to put him out of his misery. If his journal is published and people figure it all out, Ror may end up 'winning' in the end too.

I don't have the script, but Rorschach wants to return to USA and tell the world that it wasn't Dr. Manhattan who destroed New York, it was Veidt. But when USA and USSR unified because they need to take Manhattan down together, world peace was restored so if he told the truth, the war would start again. Rorschach, as is on his way to USA, but then Manhattan stops him and tells him that he can't let him go, Rorschach isn't going to stop alive so he tells Dr. to kill him.

Rorschach's actor was the only guy involved in this film who actually read watchmen,

he was the only actor who did his character credit

okay a few famous quotes were in the wrong place, but hey, no film is 100% accurate

he was my favourite character not because of his violent and grizzled personality like all the teenagers like him for, but because he was the only actor and character that balanced out Watchmen's very massive flaws. I don't hold back in saying that Rorschach was the best Watchman
