Bargnani is a small forward in a center's body. He's got a fantastic shooting touch, a great face-up game and a mini-arsenal of little floaters and finger rolls when he attacks the rim, but he's disappointing when it comes to rebounds and defense. He's one of the few players who's basketball career suffered from being TOO tall.

@Petawawa8 It's his height that makes him a fantastic scorer. He is a mismatch nightmare. Besides Bargnani is a PF, he played the C because no one else could. But yes, his rebounding is atrocious, but I give him credit on his improved defense this year.

The only reason he's been put at the centre position was cause Raptors never had a Centre to be there, and with Bosh around the gm wanted bargs to play minutes, without cutting bosh's, so that's how he became starting center. after he left, no one was there... as I said. This year the new head coach refuses to put him at center, because he's not a center. Bargnani said it himself a year ago, his original position is a PF not Center.

@CalmlyBreathe yes i know cb4 was put for PF, he also plays center at times in all star games and at times at heat games. but he was shorter than bargnani, he shot mid range, and had all the qualification of a PF, rather than a center. bargnani is tall like dwight/javale mcgee, and shoots inside and rebounds.

The player he's always been compared to, they have a similar game, and now have the same plays being played for each other on offence... Since Dwayne Casey, the prior assistant coach of the Mavs, is now with the Raptors. Bargs has always been confused for a center for obvious reasons, since he's been playing the position in the nba since O'neal left Toronto, but he's a PF who's been forced to play Center.

bargnani CANNOT shoot mid range/ close shots like Chris bosh or dirk, hes an INSIDE scorer and mainly rebounder.

@brian27610 he's not the starting center 2 years later, which is today... he was the year after, which is the year before this one. and wtf? did you just say Bargs can't shoot mid range? and I DID read your comment I was mentioning Dirk cause both of them have the same game/SKILL. They are both 7 feet, and not centers but PFs. Both shoot 3 pointers, both shoot jump shots, both drive at times, both take it at the post... Bargs is a poor man's Dirk in other words.

amare might have spectacular blocks but the reason bargnani is better because he keeps the ball in play. if you send the ball flying out of bounds, its the other team's ball and may get a shot anyways.
