  • Back in 1990 after and I got saved I played this song all the time !! Thank you soo much for posting it !

  • It's early in the morning, and I just woke up! Grammar Mistakes Fixed:"piano, strings.....I don't know why no one ...... Love, BobbyK"

  • Could someone make a video of the original 1985 version with the piano strings, and many other instruments! I don't know no one has done this version, which I think is the most beautiful version--though I love this later version as well! Thanks for reading! The original is on his 1985 album, Known By The Scars! In Christ's Love, BobbyK

  • Good Christian Music

  • Michael Card is among the most underrated musicians in christian music. PERIOD

  • @caocao99955 Not only an underrated musician, but moreso, an underrated songwriter. Here's a guy who "gets it!"

  • @snickpickle Hes not underrated at all to be honest, hes massive in America, i was speaking to him this evening (he played at my church) and he was telling me where hes been playing in the past few weeks......China, Thailand, Singapore, America etc etc. Hes amazing!

  • I'm sure he meant metaphorically, but Jesus' hand wasn't broken. Not one bone was broken, but it certainly was pierced.

  • "The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life"

If that offends Calvinists, I'm sorry, I was just quoting the Bible. You need to take it up with the Apostle John.

  • @Jesrael1986M

Well sir, since you recognize the divine inspiration of the apostles, what do you say to what John says in John 15 verse 16:

"You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you."

Paul said that we are dead in sin and in Romans he quotes that "There is none who does good, no not one" If we chose God, then how could we really be dead in sin?

  • I can't wait to sit at the table for the wedding supper of the Lamb!

  • The table belongs to Christ, and ALL are welcome.

  • anyone know where I can find a Chord chart for this? Many thanks~

  • Thank You Jesus for your sacrifice, Thank You Mother Mary for your obedience, Thank You Joseph for protection, Thank You Father God for your goodness!!!!! Thank You for your church!

  • So, we disagree on how a person comes to Christ - is it God's work alone or do we enter into the decision? Why do some accept and some not? Is it something within each of us or is it from God? Since we do not know the mysteries of God, and God didn't call us to "save" anyone but instead to be used by the Holy Spirit to shine God's love on them - lets not argue but instead put our energies into being Jesus with skin on to our neighbors and let the Holy Spirit do His work.

  • Guys, we all agree that no one will be in God's presence who has not accepted His gift of eternal life by acknowledging our sins, repenting, and following Him in faith. We agree that not all come to Christ and not all will be saved. We also agree that God is omniscient, knowing the end from the beginning and who will and will not come to Him.

  • I love the song. It is perfectly consistent with the gospel to say that the onus is on the individual to accept. The father indeed draws to himself, but not all who are drawn choose to come. "All those who call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. The offer is extensive to all men and women, whatever Calvin might have said!

  • Michael is really really good!! I love John Michael Talbot too <3

  • Great testimony about your friend, Andy.

  • BTW, I love this song.

One of my good friends who had a very hard life came to the Lord and loved this song so much. He was a Skinhead, a meth addict and had done many horrible things in his life. He was also a great guitar player, he'd always play this. He came to the Lord and put that life behind him, sadly a few years later he died in his sleep of unknown causes. But he had a recording of this song he did that was a testament of how the love of Christ can change the hearts of men.

    RIP Andy.

  • I hear you themange59. I have a friend who came to Christ as well and loves this son. How powerful is the Lord that He would redeem your friend Andy from all that he did. Amen!

  • @themange59

That is a beautiful story of forgiveness. Although he is no longer with you; you will see him again as we gather around the table at the wedding supper of the Lamb.

  • Not everyone is invited to the Lord's Table. If you're unsaved, you have no business in partaking of his blood and body. He's making it sound like an open invitation. And also, unfortunately, he came to condemn as well as to love, not to love solamente. I'm sorry, but this song misses the mark.

  • The only people Jesus really condemned (at least what we see in the bible) are the rich and the "religious" people of his day.

I think the man Jesus is a lot different than what people think He is. Michael Card seems to have wonderful insight into the humanity of Jesus. I wish more Christians had his outlook.

It clearly says that Jesus died for the sins of the world. He said "the Kingdom of God is at hand" was that an invitation to only a specific few? no, it was open to everyone.

  • Wait I just noticed your name

So are you one of those Calvinist that believe only 144,000 people are going to be in heaven? I used to be a pretty firm Calvinist myself, but I could never get over the whole original sin thing if free will isn't a factor. If Adam used free will to condemn mankind how is it free will has no part in our salvation? then it goes into the whole faith and deeds thing in James. If God controls what we do, do any of us really have faith if we don't have as much free will?

  • I'm not a big fan of comment debates, so this is my last comment: I don't believe only 144,000 people are going to go to heaven. Where did that figure come from? About free will: We don't know what God predestined, so we assume we have free will. Here's the thing: the dead can't resurrect themselves. None of us would have been saved if God hadn't quickened us first. If you still want to debate with me, I won't answer, so we'll have to agree to disagree. Please just let people comment on videos.

  • I'm not trying to debate

I'm just saying this song means a lot to many people, myself included. Making such a harsh judgment of the song as you did didn't make much sense to me until I noticed your name I've run into many Calvinists that believe very weird things (the 144,000 comes from Revelation). But it is true, we don't know who will be in Heaven that is why the invitation to have a chance to partake in the feast is open to everyone Jesus prepared a place for, just as the song said

  • I could not disagree with you more... you are in my prayers.... (you seem to need them)

  • REALLY? I need prayer because I disagree with you? Then get on your knees and start praying, because you've got a lot of praying to do if you intend to bring before the Lord every single solitary person who does not agree with you. I wish you luck in that venture.

  • I assume that everybody is invited to the table althought the Bible clearly teach that is not everybody who will be there.

So, it's clear that if the Father doesn't attract someone to the table, he won't come. But, as human, we didn't know who come and who's not, so we shall be sure to not close the door of the Kingdom by saying:" this guy can't be saved." We don't know. Calvinism, like every explanation of the bible's mysteries (in Paul's sense) is subject to get something underlighted or wrong

  • But a thing is very clear, everybody need to ask forgive to God, then turn away from their sin and start to follow Him by praying (which is merely laying down my heart in front of God), reading and memorizing the Scripture, fasting and joining a local church who faithfully teach the Bible.

  • Michael Card is singing a lot about discipleship. Its true that the Swiss man Jean Calvin highlighted the sovereignty of God: to God be the glory, whether people follow Jesus or not.

  • We still need to know this. He was a reformer reacting against underlying beliefs of his time that made salvation cheap and man-made. We are not yet free from such spirits of our time and while every human being is invited, we see that not everyone is coming. We grieve about that and refuse to allow our theologies to harden our hearts towards people.

  • Calvin reminded us that the Father draws people to Jesus, and with that I cannot argue, because Jesus said that before Calvin. But I am hesitant to be a "Calvinist" . (Would you, for example, like to be a "Kenneth Haganist"?) That's making too much of man. And Calvin himself would have found that horrible. Let's follow the only Man deserving that honor and humbly learn from each other while we follow.

  • @CalvinistMorena pride goeth before a fall and a haughty spirit before distruction . a soft answer turns away wrath . please remember when we represent christ we must remember that before we answer people lord bless you!!!

  • This should be played before every communion. : )

  • Michael Card you simply great. Thankyou "JESUS" making people like michael. this song awesome
