Video Blog - 02/19/10 - YouTube's Uploader REALLY Sucks

After i make a video from Sony Vegas the uploader takes a hour!

Same exact problem. Bulk uploader was buggy but worked, then they removed it and the regular uploader just sucks. I get the same 0-100% in 3 seconds thing. Starting a youtube upload also seems to annihilate my internet connection for 20 minutes. Same thing happens with IE 7/8, firefox, and chrome so I'm guessing its a youtube problem.

I bloody knew it! It's been the same down this end. Fortunately, I can see the progress frame for frame via those pictures underneath, and it usually goes live as soon as the last frame is finished. I LOVE that bit as I always got impatient waiting for a video to go live.

Anyway man, hope all is well in your life, and there's never a need to apologize for a lack of videos. Hell, I went 2 weeks without uploading if you noticed. XD

Nope, because virtualdub really screws up my videos. Screws with the resolution and clips the video no matter what I do.

Have you tried the old uploader? They still have it up.

If you go to your upload video page, it's down below the "About Uploading" section, right before the "Promote your Videos with Promoted Videos" section.

It says "Upload problems? Try without the progress bar."

It's worth a shot, you never know. ;-)

Yup, same thing with or without the progress bar. Still just sits there and eventually fails. I just tried it again this morning, with the old uploader. It sat there for 20 mins until the upload failed.

I had that problem a long time..But the past few months it's been good..It's on and off a lot.

Oops, I just saw the last bit of the video and saw that doesn't work for you haha. Sorry. I jump to conclusions too often.

Hey Rob, I have the same problem as you, and I have a solution. Not sure if it works... it works for me.

What I do is I let the uploader sit there, and I open a new tab in my browser to youtube, and I go to my videos and refresh the page every so often. After a while, the video should pop up. I edit the video info then, and after a little while it goes live.

You could try that. It works for me. I've also heard it has to do with port settings on your router. Hope this works and good luck.

Strange. Every time a video failed to upload I always assumed it was a problem with my wireless Internet connection (which is prone to disconnect at the worst possible times).

Well, YouTube has a myriad of problems when it comes to uploading videos. People can't even get help from the help forums anymore, since it's overridden with spam!

I stopped uploading videos because of said problems. So, I know how you feel about the uploader. Believe me, the feeling is mutual about the uploader. ;)
