@Maekiii The new Energy one seems to be good...at least they tested it with an M170 spring, and AIrsoftGI reviews say, that it holds up tp M140 without visible wear and tear, and that it lasts in a high Speed gun...
@andromedarr It is the same piston as the old. It is suitable only for high fps/low rof if even that. The material is too hard and prone of cracking in high rof setups. It will NOT last in a high rof setup. What you want is a piston which has a well reinforced and supported pickup teeth. (thats where the majority of the strain is transmitted)
i am having premature engagement problems with my gun, im not planning on short stroking it but will taking off the 2nd and 3rd teeth on the piston help to prevent premature engagement? I JUST want to take off the 2nd and third tooth, nothing else.. is that okay? thanks
It helps a lot preventing premature engagement of the piston when running extreme high speeds. It increases the rof, but has a bad side affect, the fps drops around 10% per teeth
That happens when piston does not have enough time to go into forward position and the sector gear catches it too early, causing major damage on the piston and the gears.
@Maekiii This can be fixed with a sector clip so the sector gear is delayed and the piston can complete the cycle before the sector gear comes back around. ;D I'm sure you already new this.
@nonamre the sector clip has nothing to do with the timing of the sector gear itself. The clip does not add remotely enough weight to slow down the gear, if you assemble the gear box partially you will see that the actual function is to pull the tappet plate earlier and keep it pulled back a few fractions of a second. Reason for this is to allow a little more time for the mag to feed the bb into the hop up unit because at high speed, the gun shoots faster than the mag can load.
nice video but i think that is a complete waste of time. The last two teeth were a good idea, but the rest no. If you just take off the teeth of the gear, that should be enough. But i guess your doing it because its a plastic piston right and you need the last tooth solid. Then ok....
The release tooth HAS to be metal, otherwise the piston will wear out completely in max 1000 shots. Few years ago I just took one teeth off the sector gear and thats exactly what happened.
In theory its around 10% fps loss per teeth. Im using a guarder sp110 and im getting 330fps with 2 teeth shortstroke. You can compensate it by adding spacers into the spring quide to pre compress the spring.
Wait, Did u shave off 4 teeth or only 2, and which part of my sector gears would I shave off?
ccommpputter 1 month ago
@ccommpputter Just 2, the other 2 were for the angle of engagement.
Maekiii 1 month ago
Don't you have to take teeth out of the gear too.

@kdash0213 Yes.

what does a shortstroke do ?
does it make a higher rof?
Maddafakka98 6 months ago
@Maddafakka98 Prevents premature engagement of the piston. It rises the rof only very little.

Makiii. what do you think about the "Azimuth 14 metal tooth piston"
trippinfun 8 months ago
Do you really need to shave off the 2nd and 3rd piston near the pickup?
xbabydboiex 8 months ago
@xbabydboiex Yes, that is reguired for correction of angle of engagement

@andromedarr Systema pistons are the worst in the world.. stay away from them.. theyre dangerous.. you may die if you arent careful..

what does short stroking do?
TheMRrcairsofter10 1 year ago
@TheMRrcairsofter10
makes the rate of fire go up
i think...:)
mygamertag2010X 1 year ago
@TheMRrcairsofter10 increases the rate of fire and drops the fps a bit

why do u take off the front teeth?

@Maekiii I have a hard time understanding what premature engagement means

@Maekiii is that why you have to take a few teeth off the wheel gear?

How many percent of fps would you lose by doing so? Do you upgrade the spring to compensate for the reduced compression? Thank you.
