When Jan is throwing into the net look how he doesn't move his hips forward, he just turnes them...it's very important to take note of this, he does this better then most world class throwers, it helps him hold his block longer getting more power up the body and out into the javelin throw.
Some coaches teach moving the hips forward...i was lucky to get to train with Mark Murro back in the early 70's and he always had me work on turning the hips and NOT! moving them forward...it was a HUGE help in my throwing as i got out to 79.60m (261'3").
It's like some of the jumping and sprintin exercises I do in my front lawn. They help a whole load more than the other stuff that looks better like the resistance parachute or whatever, but ya get some funky looks from the neighbors =/
why is that real athletic training looks so gay that you can't do it regular gyms without people looking at you like a damn freak - I hate that. I guess I shouldn't be so self conscious.
Haha, same thing for my school's wrestling team. We were warming up and doing the gayest stecthes and the basketball kids were ripping on us non stop. They shut their mouths pretty quick though when we started to tackle, throw, grappel, and pin the other team haha.
