When the chair turns around and the piano music starts you can feel the chill. One of my favorite scenes, my second favorite is when Nick punches Victor and Victor says, "I will let that one slide, but the next one is going to cost you, please let me know if you have that scene. They were hitting the heavy bag. Very funny scene.
I wonder how it is to have Victor Newman as your real life father. Is Eric Braeden a nice fellow in real life? They say that the people who play the Villains on the screen are nice in real life and those who are comedians are very nasty people with bad attitudes especially toward fans.
@NFitalianGuy From my understanding of the guy, the only trait he has with his on screen character is the LOVE for his family. While being interviewed, along with his adult son, he talked about the lady of his life! His Granddaughter.
Also, he and Peter (Jack Abbott) Bergman didn't get along off screen, so it made their roles so classic. They once got into a fist-a-cuff off the set and both were sent to the ER. Since then they have become "friends" and respects each others "talents"
@whiteliberal1 I recently read about his and Peter Bergman's altercation. I also read that at the time Bill Bell warned them that if it ever happened again, they would both be fired. I just watched Eric Braeden on youtube when they gave him a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He definitely is a classy guy, he spoke about & thanked his wife Dale for standing by him. It's rare these days to see marriages last and he mentioned that she has been with him since 1961 or 62.

I really miss how Y&R was back then! It was the acting, the suspense, the incredibly dramatic music!!! Great storylines for great actors. I will always love Y&R and be a loyal fan, but I miss the REAL drama of the "old" days. Compared to back then, current Y&R is rubbish.
OMG This so awesome! Jack could have pooped himself! I watched this as a kid and I remember Jack dropping that glass. I also liked how "the mustache" was toying with him.
Paul Rauch needs to be fired. I hate the way the show is being presented. The storylines are awesome...it's just the background music and the way the show is being produced is just UGHHHHH
@vashottest I agree with you. I wanted Ed scott to go back to Y&R but he his going to B&B. So I wan the Guy who took Ed Scotts place in 2002, David Shaughnessy.
the set of Vic's office looks like a replica of the one they use today, 16 years later!(newman ranch, abbott manor, and the "Murphy" home haven't changed either...or the Winters apartment.
I would've liked to have seen Terry Lester's Jack go head to head with Eric Braeden's Victor. That would have been GREAT! I noticed Jack was fearful of him here(16 years ago) but nowdays Jack's fearless! Like he says to Victor: "I'm the one man who won't back down" It just keeps getting better and better with time!
I am happy to confirm to all of you that Eric Braeden is NOT leaving the show. Just days before his final ep. aired, Braeden and the show came to some kind of negotiable terms where Braeden wouldn't receive as much of a cut in his checks...however the actor will be gone for a few months...or at least the rest of the show while his character(and Nikki) is sent off to long term facility to strengthen his heart(then he will ring in the the second dec. of the century with busi. as usual)
Damn! You would think that Paul Rauch, who made One Life To Live so amazing, would be able to make Y and R exciting again. I don't get it! The storylines are not bad these days, but the presentation/background music is so anti-climactic!
Rauch either needs to restore Y and R to the way it was in the 80s/90s, or just go crazy with it like One Life to Live in the 80s. Today's version is inferior to both styles.
He made One Life so amazing and he's doing fairly well with Y@R...give him some more time. I think you'll like what you see.(though I don't agree that Colleen had to die for Victor to be the "victor" you know what I'm saying?)
93 this happened after summer before October I think. I remember reading it all in soap digest since that was the only way for me to catch up on what I missed(I was in junior high, Internet wasn't yet created(that would be when I was a sophomore, so no way to catch up there, long before YT mind you. and it was a morning soap so on my few days off never got to see so I tried to watch every chance I'd get during summers and holidays.(maybe even play hooky a few times, that was my sis work.
So is it true, he's really leaving. I personally think that's a very unwise decision. Remember Y & R made him, not the other way around but I guess after nearly 30 Years, you want to do other things.
They "won't" replace him. He's too big a star and how do you replace someone who has been playing this guy for nearly 30 Years. He should be very humble especially since OLTL and ATWT are practically on the verge of cancellation themselves.
Yes EB is so immensely popular that the star got his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, how often is this fete accomplished by a daytime actor? He's starred or guests in over 250 westerns, sitcomes, crime dramas, and plays before he got this role at the turn of the 80's, which was a turning peak for the show as it expanded to an hour and got rid of the original core family. He's appeared in Titanic as the richest man in the world!(a box-office favorite)
and a cameo of out of work housefather/husband Michael Keaton watching Victor and Nikki's shenanigans on the 80's movie "Mr. Mom" which was great considering movies didn't put much clips of characters watching a real daytime drama as it was the movies, a major step up, but I'm guessing since he was Victor Newman...now several movies have taken steps in incorporating soap scenes into their movies.
in the beginning, he was supposed to have been a 3-day gig then he turned into lead actor/villain for the rest of the duration of the program. Personally Y@ R made him, and so did us fans as we were wowed by him but that's not to say that the actor put in a lot of hard work, to this show when you gotta take into consideration he's got family and there were probably other projects he wanted to pursue which he had to back out of coz of his commitment here. They did reach a mutual decision
Jack looks scared in this one though. What a classic scene where Victor turns arouns slowly and the expression on Jack's face is priceless. Right up there with the kick of the hand by Jack as he left Victor for dead
PB was 40 back then, still considerably young as he is 56 today. He was 26 when he joined the cast of AMC as Cliff Warner but once he joined as Y@R's new Jack he was 36. any other questions, come see me.
@mpeace1981 I agree about the PC police ranting about actors drinking during the day on a soap opera. These shows are geared toward real life & they make statements about the cultural climate in society. Is It ok to watch them sleep around, cheat, kill? Or watch some award show on a major network to hear singers sing about killing cops or watching singers imitate a sexual act live on stage? But Heaven forbid you see a person take a casual drink or smoke a cigarette on TV.It's life & its legal!
I love the classic "creepy" music that plays just before he drops the glass, They've been using it for like 3 decades, Gets me on the edge of my seat every time!
Sure sweetie. Victor was going through a rough time with his family who blamed him for the death of Nikki's baby with Jack. Victoria lashed out at him, and he was so upset and hurt he left town. He was robbed and the person who robbed him, was in a Car Crash and everyone thought he had died. It was during this time that he met Hope in Kansas, he allowed Jack to think he "owned" Newman Enterprises but decided to surprise Jack. Another brilliant performance by Peter Bergman & Eric Braeden.
I was wondering if you had the part when victor over heard nikki telling victoria and nick that they would be alright with out victor and that they will get through this. and victor misunderstood, and went and married hope. If you do could you please, please, please upload it. Thanks.
Nikki said that?!. My God, does the word "Dont' assume anything without having all of the facts" exist on Soaps. If Nikki hadn't said that, maybe Adam wouldn't have existed.
I MISS 90's Y&R...the 1990's Young and the Restless was the best TV had to offer daytime or primetime...SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD
