We were at my sister's for TG so I couldn't make it to Road Atlanta. Doesn't sound like I missed much. We did go to VIR with Chin the weekend before though, and that was a lot of fun.
Hey thanks its not done yet but almost ;) So far all poly bushings, Bilstein HD Shocks, lowering springs, 15G turbo, turbo cam, SS brake lines, T5 Ford transmission, MegaSquirt, 2.5in all the way back, rebuild head, turbo block with oil squirts and a few more things that I cannot think of right now. I cannot wait to finish it and take it to road atlanta!
It was a DE, or drivers ed, event. Basically you can pay a fee to go drive your car on track, at speed, with an in-car instructor for novices. Its quite a lot fun. Let me know if you want more info on finding one of these events in your area.
Oh well thanks for the helpful advice, but I'm only 16, and don't get a car for almost 5 months : (
I wish that I was like a year or 2 older and out of highschool and all that but until then all I can do is watch the plethora of youtube videos to keep my blood pumping :D
It depends on the track and on the club running the event. VIR with Porsche club was about $250 for the weekend. Watkins Glen with Chin Motorsports was closer to $600. Generally, these events are on the weekend and run from about $200 up. The most expensive one I've seen was for $600. There are occasionally one-day events that are a little cheaper.
i have a race here come may. in my nissan sentra spec v i have 200 hp and weigh approx 2500lbs also a lowering suspension strut bars and sway bars. i am racing a duramax diesel 2500 with a chip . not sure how much hp or tourque. u haveing actual experience what would you say myy chances are of winning if i go and practice the track against a kid with no experience except on the road?
Where in NC? VIR is in VA, just over the border (near Milton) and is an awesome track. Lowes Motor Speedway in Charlotte is an option. They are building a new track near Spencer that is supposed to open next year, too.
sadly, no. Our local PCA region is holding an event at Rockingham so we're doing that instead. I want to do Road Atlanta again when its a little less crowded. I'm thinking maybe with Chin...
I've never known Chin to run at Road Atlanta. I'm 18 miles away so it's my home track..:-) You should see if you can get into the PCA event on the 18-19th. I'm there too!
Looks like you are correct. That's kind of funny, given that Mark Hicks lives in Lawrenceville... I'm a little turned off of NASA SE at the moment. How are the Peach State PCA events?
Yeah, not so much track time at the NASA events. Haven't done PeachstatePCA yet so don't know. Saw some of your other videos in your P-car. Love all the "extra" data like speed, track map, and g-force....very nice. Some day I want to do that. Looks like I was at the Mazda Grand with you too. Will be at the next one in September. Keep the shiny side up!!
Chin is doing Watkins Glen again October 26 - 28. If you haven't been you should definitely consider going. It's a long drive but definitely worth it. We went earlier this year and plan on attending the fall event as well.
Yeah, this is the other car I take to the track. Since this was my first time driving this track, and the track has a reputation for eating cars, I figured I'd drive the Honda ;-) Also, the GT3 doesn't have a roll bar, racing seats or harnesses and I was reaching speeds of around 150 mph at the last track I drove so I'm saving up for some safety gear!

If this is a drag race then I really have no idea since I don't drag. On a road course you should have no problem absolutely destroying him.
