unfortunately, I think they only make those nice bags for the shop vac brand vacs. all the others don't have that option. otherwise, I'd put one in all my shop vacs
How about cleaning or oiling your motor. Mine smells like it is starting to burn up so I took it apart and don't know much about motors but want to fix it. I thought maybe it might have caked on debris and I can't open it any further, so far. I see the fan, it spins. I knocked it around and got a little bit of debris out. Well, I'm gonna keep searching on youtube and maybe find the answer somewhere. I think I can still save it!
@penelopepi A ShopVac is a limited life, throw away item. They do, after all, run in dirt. In general, the better you treat it the longer it will live. The one on my scroll saw runs for hours at a time. It started exhausting black carbon dust (motor brushes) and finally got hot and quit. Not much in there that is repairable. Keep them as clean as possible. Run it until it quits. Then, throw it into the dumpster and go get another one at WalMart. Some new cartridge filters smell pretty bad.
@RonaldWalters47 Thank you. I think it is black carbon dust. I tried opening it up again with the hopes of understanding how to possibly fix it. Oh well, was just trying to not add another piece of garbage to the heap! But if it has to be thrown out, not much I can do about it.
