Hey man. My personal preference for death metal tones (from hearing peoples setups) is the ENGL Powerball. Peavey Triple X is decent too.

Having played a 6505 I can tell you that the clean channel is pretty meh, but it works well at higher gain settings. I'd still save up for an ENGL Powerball myself though.

Yeah, I don't get much time to tinker around with amps (I mostly try them at shops with a basic EMG based guitar), but I found that ENGLs sounded better at lower volumes, and ripped at higher volumes too.

The Randall in this vid is good too IMO. Works well with the good ol' testament going on.

I'm going to swap the V30's out for T75's :yesway: I have videos up but I don't really have as much to work with as you in regard to recording. The only video which features the cabinet is the one of me playing the Stealth7. I think it sounds brilliant and I haven't even boosted it or used any effects with it apart from a Morley wah and a BOSS NS-2.

Its not that they sound the same, If you watch side buy side there are subtle differences but It does show with practice and a good ear you can get your signature tone out of many of the great amps out there..

it shows Ola only needs a certain range of the tone/gain to be good, hence the reason all the high gain models sound great. hes like a tone surgeon, taking what he needs. dont you agree Ola? really a full guitar tone isnt always best for recording. less gain more treble, nice decay. golden!

Aspects like fingers, picks, pickups, cabinet, microphone affect more than you think. No wonder I sound the same, this is what I sound like.

@fearedse i agree, most amps sound the same through the same chain. though feel is another thing, and how tight it is, again thats a feel thing. also how grainy the distortion is and how that react with the pickups. 9 out 10 you review will do fine on a record. i myself use a framus cobra, a 6505+ and a krank rev1. that covers my bases for tone fine, i could allways use more amps. but not because i need it. :D who wouldnt like to have two cars, or more? more wants more, thats life i guess.
