love my tempo car i grew up around in my family and i own it now and have put alot of work into it inside is like new after 14 years of smokers love my car had 120k when i got it and ive only but 7thousand on it same car as this though 94 2.3 GL all red

Just had a tempo have a massive stroke. 274,000 miles on her---WITH the ORIGINAL FACTORY MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION---neither have ever been worked on. She is now a quadriplegic. Her transmission went out while sitting at the gas station on 09/13/11. I got her with 60k miles and paid $1400. She gave me nearly 300,000 miles! I can't complain. SCREW your Japanese and Korean IMPORTS!! This was built right here in the USA with GOOD PAYING UNION LABOR!! UAW BABY!!!

It's just fast and agile enough to hold it's own on the highway and rarely get pulled over for speeding. So, the question is: What do you drive that is so great that you are putting down a car that so many people DO respect?

I had a 91 tempo and the thing got great mpg, the only reason I don't have it now is that the engine blew and the body rusted out but it was a super fun car to drive. Now I have a saturn sl2 and that is even more fun to drive.

I never remember getting good mpg out of my 2.3l. To get anything vaguely resembling acceleration out of it you had to floor it everywhere. God I hated that freaking engine, its only good quality was that it lasted forever. It sounded like a wounded animal/bolts being rattled in a coffee can when accelerating. Was downright dangerous when passing. At least GM fours felt torquey down low. The 2.3l had no torque, no power, no surge down low or up high. It was a miracle of crappyness.

my tempo is a 94 and its at 264,143 miles and still not showing a sign of old age. its never been wrecked and every oil change its ever had has been done at 2000 miles instead od 4000 just to keep it alive longer. i dont know why this car is called a piece of shit when a fully restored 86 tempo was sold last year at the barrett auto auction for $110,000 because this car is a cult classic and when it first came out it was a status symbel. you can say what you want but the tempo is a classic car.

Actually I beg to differ, I have driven many cars in my day ranging from japanese, korean, german, and Amercian My Tempo was a work horse, I got T boned in my tempo from a mini van driving 60miles/hour and my tempo held together for me to have a safe exit. Ford built better cars back then. Older cars have strong frames, and less fiberglass

The 90s were the worst period for cars. I would have to say Ford makes way better cars these days but its still not the quality as foreign cars. That's the reason why all are suffering. GM needs to drop some car companies already (Pontiac, potentially Hummer and Saturn) I say Ford's the strongest out of all American dealers. and actually you're wrong, older cars have less stronger frames, it depends on the impact you had, there were more deaths in the 80s and 90s then since 1999.
