@jjpc225 Those are just to mark the competitors. When a guy from the red corner scores, the ref holds up his red hand and tells the scorer. It's complicated.

@jjpc225 I'm assuming here, but I think it helps the judges keep score. So instead of having to know every name, they can score red or blue.

Outstanding! Glad to see the Army doing something like this. These guys may have to fight for THEIR life or their BUDDY'S life someday, so these tournaments will make the Army overall even more competitive with the threats out in the world today!

@nick0884 Actually most of these guys are doing MMA, and I can guarantee you that any fighter you see on TV is probably not an actor. I rolled with Chael Sonnen last week at Team Quest Tualatin, and he is a fucking beast. That skinnier black guy with the blue belt, near the start of the clip? 1st SGT Marques Daniels, MMA practitioner, and the recruiter who got me into the service. Most of what you see here is MMA. Don't dis.

The point isn't to put on exciting fights. It's not an MMA promotion. It's training so these guys know what to do on the battlefield in close quarters and don't have to resort to lethal force.

Do you not see the belts? These arent your average army grunts, they are people IN the army that are also proficient at mixed Martial Artists.
