You do have to admit this is one of the weaker Carolina teams. Only Haywood was a pro. This was after the Wallace STackhouse Jamison Carter etc. etc. etc.
that boy Harold was a beast. my brother went to BTW high school with him n the Calliope pj's. he was good then. remember one game he dropped like 60 easy.
This must have been the real late game...like a 10:30 pm tip...cause somehow I didn't see this game...remember hearing about it the next day though...
I've watched almost every game of every tournament since the mid 80s and 11 years later, this is still my favorite game of all time and Arceneaux's game the best individual performance I've ever seen. Ademola Okulaja was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and was getting help with a double team on Arceneaux and he still killed them. I've never seen a guy score so much with guys right in his face and hanging all over him like that guy did that night.
I had the good fortune of being able to attend the Weber State-UNC game in Seattle. I was out there on business and scheduled my meetings so I had the tournament days free and went to the games. This was the last of four games on the first day and I figured I would stay until halftime if UNC was winning big. Obviously I stayed until the end. I had no rooting interest for either team prior to the game but all of us sitting in the same section got behind Weber State. How could you not?
Remember this game too back in '99. I was in 9th grade and this was the talk of the Tournment at the time. I remember being a fan of "The Show" because of this game and Kevin Harden doing the announcement was just icing on the cake. I really wish Weber St beat Florida in the second rd tho
Actually, it was Iverson that threw the last second shot up, but it was one of the Hoyas' big men that grabbed it and tossed the ball in with his back to the basket. Broke my heart!!
weber state took florida to overtime in the second round 2. almost a sweet 16 trip. i was only like 13 but i'll remember this weber state team forever lol. got eddie gill's autograph after the big sky tourney.
I too, remember watching this game back when I was in 9th grade. I had to wake up early the next morning so my family and I could drive back 6 hours from our grandparent's house. Nonetheless, I stayed up late to watch one the greatest upsets ever. Watching this clip gives me chills all over again and you can rest assured that the name "Harold Arceneaux" will never be forgotten.

It was Don Reid who made the basket.

It was Georgetown with Allen Iverson's last second lucky shot that got the Hoyas past Weber State

The NCAA Rd. 1 North Carolina Game Highlights starts around 2:55 if you just want to watch those highlights.

This is still considered one of the biggest 1st Rd upsets in NCAA Tournament history. Only 2 other 14 seeds have one since this game in 1999.
After this game WSU went on to lose in overtime to Florida.

This game must have been upsetting for any NC fan. It appers that NC did not even scout Weber State. A mistake that will likely never happen agian.
The real hero besides Arceneaux was Jensen for shuting down Haywood.

@edaws52 It wasn't upsetting if you hate Carolina! I loved it!
