Saw the original lineup when the opened for Gentle Giant in Central Park NYC. First album had just come out. They sounded great that night. Good to see this music still being played.
I see my favorite bass up on the drum riser it a John Gray 5 string that has a star trek vibe to it once told Gary it looked like something Lieutenant Worf would play but i really dig the way it sounds
Perfect blend of musicianship, vocals, and stage presence. The original line-up had it all. Haglar and Stewart were the deadly duo on guitars. Gary (RIP) was a total MONSTER on bass. They gave Styx all they could handle as their opening act. Needless to say, that didn't last long. The Champaign boys rocked!
I definitely think Al L.'s vocals are better here than on the Alaska cd I have (from 98 or so), stronger. Sounds pretty similar to Terry Lutrell in fact. Oliver W. does an admirable job... the gtrs shining thru... Takes me back to May 77 seeing them in Roanoke VA*. (Light up another one!) A dvd release of this concert would be nice.
*Backing up Boston. Not sure how many knew their music, but they won the crowd over that night.
I'm glad to see a full song uploaded to YouTube, from this wonderful concert...after two years of only having the short snippets of songs I'd uploaded! Sound quality here is wonderful; this video does justice to Starcastle!

Can you please tell me where I can get a copy of this Concert? The sound is very good. It must be coming from the board. Thanks for your help. I wish they would produce for history sake a DVD Concert.
Actually got it from the singer in this cli[p. Al Lewis. He lives here in the same town as me and is part owner of the coffee shop that some of the other vids I have posted are from. I will check with him and see if there is a copy of that concert available.
Opening song from the "Citadel" album. I absolutely wore this album out as a freshman in college in 1977-78. I always thought "Can't Think Twice" could have been released as a single and would have made some noise. Wished this song would have been played more on the FM stations of the day. One of the coolest album covers I've ever seen and one of the best songs. Shine on brightly Starcastle!
Very cool! Starcastle is a very big part of my musical history

This is great and it's great to see Olly Wakey playing. Are there any videos with George Harp on vocals?

Al Lewis sounds eerily like Terry Luttrell. I really miss Gary Strater. R.I.P. dude.

C'est bien, mais que les musiciens ont l'air triste et pas dans leur trip ... est ce le poids de la disparition de Gary Starter 3 ans plus tôt ?
Il y a comme un malaise.
