  • I hold the USA record for shweeb in Rotorua with a time of 55.9 seconds.

  • I hold the USA record for shweeb in Rotorua.

  • Cant wait until women in skirts start riding these.

  • this is a pretty stupid idea, what about when you are late for work and a fat guy is lagging in front of you, how do you pass those fat assholes? and think about the hygiene in one of those capsules. it says this will be public transportation, think about the smell after so many people sweat in there, and then the occasional guy returning from a bar night and puking all over the capsule.

  • @awesomo95 i understand the clean issue but the capsules link togather and dobble in power and sorry my spelling sucks

  • @gizmo664100 nope, they dont double in power. There will be almost the same air resistance forces acting from the surface area of the container BUT, if a fat guy is ahead of you and you want to go faster, you will have to push the extra weight of the fat guy. No matter how good of a sportsman you are, your legs are mostly only as strong as your weight and you will not be able to give the fat guy enough speed. The power doesnt double, and the weight can triple (depending on his size)

  • @Mrawesomo92 oh I see I didnt think of it like that.

  • I would get so claustrophobic in no time! But it does look like alot of fun

  • ok some ideas:

what's with load? two childs? uphill with load and two childs? a gear should be nice. a handpedal should be nice as well.

  • holy crap thats looks really fun!!

  • this could only work as mass transit. in that case the whole :"pedal power" system wont work. unless you have everyone riding the vessel peddling. this could only work with tracks that have fixed routes and destinations..with stops along the way for people to get on or off. probably work better if the tracks were on the ground and not on suspended rails...oh wait that already exists...its called the metro or subway. they should find better ways to power mass transit systems we already have.

  • Overtaking is impossible. What happens when the real world puts a speed demon behind a senior citizen? I would be interested in electric assist... It beats pushing the guy in front!!!

  • People used to call me a Shweeb back in high school :(

  • Did anyone else feel like Dermett was going to rape them?

  • aspect ratio fail

  • What if 12 people simultaneously stop peddling? I'm pretty sure the next guy at the back won't be able to pedal for them =)

  • all americans are fat they are gonna get tired and block the other people

  • @narutofreakdbz1

"many people have expressed concern about slow riders holding up traffic on the monorail, where there's nowhere to pass. Barnett says there would be no need to pass, however, because shock absorbers would allow the pods to stack together and let the faster people "push" the slow rider in front."

  • @kevin10987 but wouldnt that tire out the faster person? and what if u like pass out for example in the middle of a city high above the the sheew that would suck

  • @kevin10987 If that was true, I'd never pedal at all!!!

  • @savoryrice

Well, as I have seen more information about these things. The faster riders would connect together and leave the slower riders behind. So if people stopped pedaling, those riders would connect together and come to a stop, because obviously they want to get off. Riders can pass other riders. By the way, the more people pedaling, the faster you can go, which equates to a more fun ride experience. So people would pedal to get the thrill out of a fun ride.

  • what a stupid idea.

  • This is a toy. See the video response above for an example of a REAL transit system.

  • looks fun!

  • ok, girls, and how are you gonna travel with a skirt on you?

  • @salexse girls who ride this would probably be able to work out, like they do on bikes now, that you either wear a skirt and take the bus (where you get groped) or take the shweeb and wear shorts. You can change in the loo at work. Girls are smart like that.

  • thatll get hot in there

  • Great invention.. But who wants to be the asshole who shows up at work stinkin like B.O.

  • excellent idea!.. but alas, Americans are too fat to use them

  • Excelente!!! We could use that in little towns. so we contaminate less.

  • Brazil.Gostei.Excelente como esporte e lazer.Tenho um projeto de transporte futurista, ecologico, baixo custo para construir, excelente para transporte de muitas pessoas ao mesmo tempo.Procuro por parceiros para desenvolver esse projeto inovador e eficaz.

I liked it.Excellent for sport and leisure.I have a futuristic transport project, ecological, low cost, excellent for transport of many people at once. Looking for partners to develop this innovative and effective design.

  • Sledge Hammer!

  • How are commuters wearing skirts going to get on???

  • @LookMaNoBrains stay in the kitchen?

  • Mono = 1

    Rail = Rail

  • We're this much closer to those pneumatic tubes from Futurama.

  • Okay, so put his next to the road where the bike lane was, I wave hello to the guys getting grumpy in a traffic jam!!! Would be epic....

  • wow they invented a bike again?

  • ...why isn't this everywhere in melbourne? that way i dont have to wait for shitty metro trains and buses.

  • I can see Shweeb monorails above walkways along bridges and through tunnels, With more research and development the inventor can refine Shweeb to double even triple the peddle power to make it more user freindly and efficient.

  • I can only imagine the smell.

  • @iAMcooooooool that is where we each need our own shweeb car and we can use our own stuff to keep the thing deodorized. plus we need automatic switches and a way to input our destinations so the tracks will switch to get us where we want to go without having to stop. something that moitors speed as well, and the switches switch for the one that will reach it first then the other person, then all will be good.

  • it says on the site "In theory, a single rail could move 10,000 people through a 1m2 airspace." but what about people getting on and off that could leave you with a loooooong waiting time lol. this would be good at a theme park not real life transport... what if the chain pops off? and it says pods can be joined to help one another out, what if they arnt going to the same place, but they go past the same stop, and the first person wants to get off at that stop, but the back one doesn't??

  • @Vladflame

Aaye, I know what you mean. If you didn't want to get off at that stop, there should be another rail that skips it, then joins back later on. Also, there should be some sort of hold mechanism between the pods if you want to join, or release. and it's only a demo, they'd have something in place to make the chain less likely to slip off

But you gotta' admit, it's pretty darn impressive! :)

  • this is the worst idea i have seen, yes it gets you fit but so does walking, it may be fun but so is riding a bike... walking and cycles also are zero pollution, this wont solve the traffic issues, for example what if everyone uses it, you will be waiting in ques for hours, you cant go anywhere you want, like you can with walking/car/bike because its on rails, literary.

  • @Vladflame go to shweeb dot com and go to the faq's

  • @kevinkm77 i did thats why it in my comment i have a quote from the site.

  • @Vladflame if it gets to be that popular, you can't really say that it doesn't work, can you? I'm sure that someone wrote to the Times when the Tube was first proposed and said it would never work either.

  • @writerwruler well actually yes I can, just because its popular it doesn't make it right. the tube is different because its mass transit, this is single transit based on a mass transit system. and thats if it does become popular, tbh honest its not every new, its a monorail really that only carries one person in a carriage, that is powered by human sense. Im cynical about the whole thing really, it make work on a small scale circuit in nz but full scale transport?? no I don't think so.

  • @Vladflame think it through . When the system starts, it would have to be limited . Some people would try it immediately and others refuse to . If it didn't work, it would quickly dry up and die. If it works for people, then it would become popular and be in demand. Time to extend the network, no?

It might get to a stage where it was too popular for its own good and expansion couldn't come fast enough, but how does 'everyone wants on' come to equal ' it isn't any good'?

  • @writerwruler it just doesn't seem like a new idea, its basically a human powered monorail, and knowing the general public, people on a whole are lazy thats why cars are popluar, i can't imagine waking up early in morning and queing up to ride esentially a bike on rails, id rather ride a real bike and go where i want, and tbf i dont think if it became popluar that loads of rails would look good, poles everywhere wouldnt be a nice sight. it may be green energy but what is the cost to manafacture.

  • @Vladflame my last post on the subject. You don't like this idea and wouldn't use it. Fine. Google will fund a trial to see how it works in practice. Let's watch and see what happens. No onebelieves that it will save the world, but I suspect that, if they put it in a good spot for the first trial, it will be successful enough for the system to be extended and adopted in other places. You can see somepeople think this is a great. They'd use it, even if you wouldn't.

  • I think it's a great idea!

    #1 It's fun

    #2 zero pollution

    #3 you get fit

#4 beat the traffic and the messy public transit system.

  • Why did google fund this? They can't be serious.

  • is this guy on crack?

  • ive ridden in one of these at that place last week

  • cool i love it

  • i think it be a good idea for a ski resort for far away runs.

  • @prezal72 but like that ur going upward (30 degree)...

  • wow awesome... 5/5

  • this isn't the original, and that's not the original maker. i saw it on the science channel.

  • its exactly what was on the science channel. they just never actually said they were in a park.

  • when are those moving bubbles coming out?

    xD

  • The position of the cartoon sun at 0:05 seem a little odd.

  • oh woah that looks like a ton of fun

  • Hah this looks fun. XD

  • lol i seen this on daily planet.its genius it would sure beat walking and riding your bike up a huge hill lol

  • for the love of god!!! put these things in canada they'd make billions off of it!

  • they should bolt a 8hp motor on them and really apply them to the real world

  • the whole point of the schweeb is to make it eco friendly with no engines.

  • just saw this on daily planet.

they said that it would be good for public transit in big cities. but people would get all sweaty on their way to work and fat people wouldnt fit

  • yeah, it wouldnt work out to well... other "cars" would get in the way, some people might not make it all the way up a hill or somebting like that

  • I guess they could make something like an escalator when theyre goin up a hill like the roller coasters.

  • They wouldn't be fat if they pedaled hard.

  • Thats sooooooooooo Aweome i wish i had one of those in my small town

  • i want to try it

  • oh man!! whats the legal age for a shweeb license!

  • or just ride a recumbent cycle like I ride to work. Check out my commute to work video. it is almost as fun as this monorail, but I can steer!

  • Looks like a lot of fun! I can see it as a fun ride... some other things would have to be put in place to make this a viable campus transportation or city center transportation system, but it looks like fun just to ride and enjoy as a form of entertainment and exercise. I already commute to work on a recumbent trike, so if one of these went between home and work I would do it!

  • awesome!

  • this is coooool!!

  • Que incrivel!!!!

  • ill take one, please

  • No! make a human powered coaster. With hills, that you can speed up yourself... It would need an automatic backup car in case you tire out.

  • ok name 1 problem, that they will NEVER FIX, and when i say never i mean NEEVVVERR. Name 1 thing. Try, jsut try, i bet you i can prove you wrong

  • i don't know if it's a waste of time, but there's no such thing as a stupid idea :P

  • the only problem is if people get tired they wont pedal anymore and case traffic, i think maybe short distance or motor assisted or something

  • hahaahha

  • its coo cause it dont need no energy

    I love NZ :)

  • I don't understand, how do you geton and off? and where do you get the things for the track? Would you have to have yoru own, cause you can't have them just sitting around:s and what if someone stops int he middle of the track? and how would you get off when yuo get to where you want to go. So many questions. Lol

  • thats a stupid idea, if one lazy dumbass called it quits, then like, anyone behind them are fucked

  • Its still not complete yet Retard.

Eventually they will create a way of switching lanes, and a way to brake easier. Just you wait.

  • well just cuz those fat people cant ride the shweeb doesnt mean i cant.

  • I like the idea of using these for city transportation. But I know the first day we'll be hearing about Shweeb traffic jams. Just wait for some Lance Armstrong wannabe pulling up behind the average guy and loses his mind for not pedaling fast enough. Have to find someway to change lanes.

  • that's why they are fat..

in my opinion it's a very great idea for transporting people in cities.

  • motha fucka i can fit my ass in there and break the fuckin record u kiddin me, and for all the fat fucks they can make Extra large ones and make it harder to pedal so fat people get a work out..

  • 0:55 are those bears or sheep in the background?

  • fat ppl wont fit

  • damn build one in LAS VEGAS!!

  • they should make them higher

like over a sea or something

    then it'd be awesumm

  • i want one on those in my back garden!!!

    lol

looks pretty fun, all these "games" or whatever they are...

  • they need to get Lance or Alberto Contador on one of those

  • That place is the fucking goods.

  • Be a dweeb on the schweeb. worst rollercoaster ever.

  • 1:38 awesome

  • 2 words, bloody cool.

  • Monorail. Monorail. Monorail. Monorail. Monorail. Monorail. Monorail. Monorail. Monorail. Monorail. Monorail. Monorail.

  • Mushroom, mushroom...

  • @Habulinec snake! snake!

  • @georgehwbush MONO!

  • excellent! A+ for creativity.

  • Pretty cool. XD. I'd totally ride this instead of a car!

  • if they mad these instead of cars, I'd love it! i would never have to ask my mom or dad for a ride before I get my license!! lol

  • HI, I posted that comment!

But anyways, the shweeb is cool!!!!!!

  • That is so cool! I want to go on so bad!!!
