my son was playing this earlier and started crying writing the numbers and drawing the 3d box. i tried it and it didnt detect it even though i did it right over and over. letters on the loose is awesome though.

When young children learn how to draw their letter forms, they do not have what is called "fine motor skills" - translation, they can only draw letters rather loosly and in a sloppy manner. It's what makes kids' writing unique to their age. This LeapFrog game requires that kids draw exactly on the line. A skill that requires very developed fine motor skills. Not even every adult can master this challenge as requested in the game.

The title itself has many great animation tools for young children. Most of the title is really great. Just this one are that falls completely flat.

You're missing the point completely. The game was built in such a way that NOBODY can do it. Look, she's drawing right on the line.
