This movie melts my heart, even after watching it like 50 times! Lol It cheers me up when I'm sad. I've seen all Doris' movies but this is by far my fav. I love how there's no bad in it, all happy and beautiful music -3
I have long cited Young At Heart as my favorite movie; can't help putting it on the VCR at Christmas for a comfortable trip down memory lane. Gratefully, Mr. Sinatra had the original ending re-written for a happier conclusion rather than the fate John Garfield met in Four Daughters.
Thankyou nice to see people really love this film its one of my favourites thanks for uploading. Doris Day Frank Sinatra what a combination magic. What album is the song from.
Just beautiful... No wonder why my ex-husband always talked about Doris Day. She was gorgeous... But we didn't split because of Doris, hahaha... I haven't seen the movie but I will as soon as I get it... Thank you Theodomus!
WOW I always thought this song was Written by Lionel Bart in 'OLIVER'.. Nancy sings it about Bill Sykes... Is this the original and Lionel 'kind of moved it'???
OR is it the other way around??? does anyone in YOU TUBE-land know?????
Stunning though, I love listening to Doris sing.. she has a truly amazing voice.. give me 'goosepimples all up my arms'.. Brilliant :0)x
Undoubtedly a timeless film filled with heart warming romance & meaningful love, it surprises you then when you cant recall a single time they kissed (part from the cheek), just goes to show a passionate romance does not have to be show in such 'passionate literary terms'
When we said goodbye to people like these, we said goodbye to class.
But Miss Doris Day you still hold that ounce of class left in this world, the world will not only lose you, it will lose the many good things it stood for.
"As long as life is long, I'll love him right or wrong. And somehow I'll be strong...as long as he needs me."
I sang this song in my high school play in 1969...the words came back just now as if I'd heard it yesterday. Thanks for the memories!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Jan
Oh, what a horrible plot, and you get only one brief sorta duet with Frank and Doris. Just catch the superb musical solos performances and be done with this dreck. No wonder Gig ended his life gig. He just got plain shafted here. Shame Doris, shame!!
First heard the song "As Long as.." in the movie "Oliver" where it was a battered woman staying true to a multifaceted villain. What a different take. It's a beautiful song, but I believed it as a kid, took it into my persona and made a mess of my life. Living for someone else is supposed to be unhealthy these days, but it's kept me on the planet several times.
Many critics said Doris and Frank looked like they were acting in different films because their approaches and styles were so opposite. I can their point and yet I think this is a wonderful film and has stood the test of time. Many people assumed Day and Sinatra did not get along on the set--why I do not know--but they enjoyed working with each other and he was very protective of her.
i love this movie. Frank Sinatra and Doris Day had such a great banter between the two of them. My fave scene was the one in the train station where Lorie tries to stop Barney from leaving. I loved what Frank says to her. It was like...
"If only you're eyes were dull or you nose a little shiny... anything to make this (leaving her) easier"
movies of yesteryears are not going to go away. it will be with us forever. even new movies are just extracts from them. regardless if its comedy, drama or otherwise. thanks to these people, my memory of yesteryears will always fresh.
Those who know the plot of YOUNG AT HEART will know how appropriate it was to choose Doris' singing of "As Long As He Needs Me" for a musical accompaniment. Thanks!
I saw this movie on pbs when I was a teenager. I fell in love with frank and doris. They are still two of my favorite singers and young at heart still one of my favorite musicals. :)
I love it! Yet it makes me sad because you ignored one of my favorite scenes in the movie (everyone does). The one where Sinatra gives her that first small kiss, when she's frosting gingerbread men. It's one of the cutest kisses ever!!! Despite it being just a peck Sinatra (the look in his eyes!) and Day make it waaaay amazing. Le sigh.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! Sorry about the missing scene, but maybe I'll get another idea for a clip on that movie, then I can try to include it. I'll let you know. ;-)
@ScottTart Well what you don't know is that Doris Day would not tolerate to get that nasty Cigarette breath (and saliva) on her by Kissing. part of the contract NO KISSING! Reason for the little pecks. Doris was like "YUK!! " in reality.
any chance of adding the the song in the beginning when the two sisters are playing instruments and doris day is on piano singing. i dont know the name of the song, but its the scene where ernie is in the kitching working on the sink/ if you can that would be great thank you
ok the scene at 1:28 either before or after frank sing a song but i don't know the name of it. its when the bar is empty and then doris comes in. Could someone please tell me the name of it I would love to know!!!
Now I remember how ugly Frankie was and how beautiful Doris was. She outshines him in this movie. I loved her so much that I married the first girl I met who looked like her.
OOOOHHHH - I haven't heard "As Long As He Needs Me" for a long long time ! Thank you - love it. What album is that from ??
Have you seen Four Daughters starring the Lane sisters ? Sinatra's character dies - as he was supposed to - but Frank refused to die ! That always makes me smile - I guess Frank got whatever he wanted !
Thanks - fun to see the duet with two of the greatest singers there ever were !
Run the soundtrack! You screwed it up with your stupid dubbing.

And Jimmy VanHeusen wrote some of Hollywood's finest music, this being one. Thanks for posting.
