I got my butt kicked by a lvl 80 ret pally in one hit, and I'm only a lvl 70 mage. but not only that, it seems that every time I get into a duel, my fps seems to drop way hardcore, and that just screws me over, because the next thing I know they are right there attacking me and my health is halfway gone. lol

your gear will last for a long time, I didnt have that good retri gear while lvling because I was a healer in bc. but I think you will have that gear on untill like lvl 74-77 or even to lvl 80

what is the paladin is more than decent? you honestly belive a paladin can't beat a frostmage? what is the reasoning behind this? crowd controle isnt the best thing against a paladin, cleansing and HoF is really nice against a frostmage, I cant seem to wrap my head around the fact that you belive that... no need for a suprise attack... Equaly skilled/geared ret paladin loses to a frost mage 9 times out of 10. I'm speaking about duels, not worldpvp. In a worldpvp situation if u get a headstart on a mage that is not ready, then sure you have more chances to win. Still frost mages > ret pallys. Sure you can keep up stable burst damage, but not in a situation where the enemy is waiting your attack.

Are you seriously saying that a frostmage is best at pvp against paladins because they can win in a duel against a paladin? That is just stupid of you saying, duels are to based on how many of the CD's you got left, I must say, world pvp and arena is the only way to say what is best, I would honestly say that a paladin is better in general as a backup and a dps in arena, the frostmage can try to CC a paladin, but will only fail. HoF, Cleanse, bubble if needed.

World pvp as you see it seems to be running to others back, then popping all cd's and hoping they die during a stun. And i was talking about duels where both had all cd's. Arena is indeed a very good way of showing who's best but not on 1v1 since the fact that both players have 1,2 or 4 friends helping them changes the situation dramatically.
