  • People who appreciate GOOD MUSIC now and forever, get on then!

  • LOVE IT.

  • Great group's biggest hit, sadly forgotten by most, except for us true fans, didn't get the recognition that other great 70s groups did,or have the long career. But for a short time they were all over the radio. Also was my junior year, cruising to WNJR and WWRL. Great memories

  • Saw them at the Apollo 40 years ago. Boy could Freddie blow as they say. They were from

New Jersey and they were the shit. Great live performances that can't be matched by anyone today. Nobody even comes close. Some songs can't be remade. This is one. RIP Freddie you were the best at what you did.

  • 1st yr of college in Washington, dc....I love this song, brings back memories...this is what you call MUSIC....

  • songs like this were played at house parties across the country...before MTV and VHS we always knew what records to buy

  • I still get goose bumps when I here this song great song.

  • I wanted this song ever since I heard a guy sing it on The Apollo, I couldn't remember the name of the group until I heard the song the other day on satellite radio and the info popped up.

  • Very nice to hear again. For me this was June 1971, the end of my 11th grade year. Actually heard this on our first FM Top 40 station. They played a lot of soul and I remember buying this (a red record), You're The Reason Why by the Ebonys and Stop, Look, Listen by the Stylistics the same day. I was in soul heaven! The musicians on this one and the Sytlistics song sound very similar.

  • day by day i look forward to the 70s music espeicially when i see the sell outs of today ok get paid but keep some integrity and your soul does anybody have oo la we iiim not sure if its the continetal but if have please post PEACE

  • OH MY GOD. WHEN I TELL YALL I BEEN LOOKIN 4 DIS SONG...THANK U! OOOWEEE DIS DA DEAL!!!!! RIP AND THANK U DADDY 4 TURNIN ME ON 2 GOOD MUSIC DOWN THRU THA YEARS!!

  • @JuiceeAnn You're welcome...

  • This brings back sooooo many good memories from the old day. Thank you Coninental IV, you are forever in my memories!. My heart skips a beat when I play this one. Young girl, born 1961 grew up with this group. Paterson NJ

  • Great "slow drag" music...basement parties , rent parties , cabarets....the days of great music ...how I miss them...

  • in this era of musicmaking everything was real ... less need for all the hooplah of technology, they got it right ... the song - melody & lyrics, production, arranging, and then the irreplaceable vocals - singers with voices of a lifetime. the true heat. music that will stand the test of time, & always speak for itself.

  • @colorsoundandsoul I hear you...and I agree 100%

  • @colorsoundandsoul you said it all bro.

  • I knew Freddy Kelly ,as we all did in the projects in Glassboro N.J.One of the koolest people you would ever meet.Although when they did the Georgie Woods show he claimedN.Y. as his hometown! We were blessed to have one of a few persons to have the perverbial 15 minutes of fame.RIP Mr. Kelly!

  • Right on Brother.long live the 70s music.

  • So True & Well Spoken!!

  • Yes, in 1971, I was a too young to understand what the meaning of this song is, but now that I'm older, I can only imagine how good it must have felt to be in love when this song was on the airwaves regularly. The basement parties, or "blue lights" parties, as they were often called, must have been something to behold, holding that special person in your arms, an swaying to the magical groove of this smash record, I'm sure there's been many children conceived because of this 70's R&B classic...

  • This was THE jam BITD. Thanks for posting!!

  • The greatest songs, ever!!!!!!!!!!! I been looking for this song for a long time. Thank you so much You Tube. Love Yall

  • wow this song still sound good

  • I will always remember this song it came out when i was a little girl so many memories.

  • Back in 2000 a friend dj named choclate chip worked at a radio station in norfolk va called soul classics 92.9 every sunday evening on his shift he would play this for all the ladies locked up in the local jail. he would always get alot of request for this cool song from back in the day.

  • Ooooooo Oooooo! Yes hab mercy!

  • There is no debate lyrical wise. The songs of yester year were more than mundane topics, pointing out correction withthin ones life, not degrading one another, or boasting about how much you have. Check out Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, BE FOR REAL.

  • OH damn MIssy now I know who the Bubba is! Thanks for starting my evening greatt. KEEP OUR SECRET NAMES TO OURSELVES BUT GILRY YOU ALWAYS HAD THE TASTEFR THE GOOD MUSIC! WHAT i WOULD NOT GIVE TO AVE A 70'S PARTY ECERY 2 YEARS WITH BUBBA PICKING ALL OF THE MUSIC OUT!

  • This song made me realize I cannot sing. These brothers are saaannnggging

  • One the greatest songs ever recorded.

  • im glad to be here to enjoy this music with all of you. i was born in the 90s but the only thing i can think of today being better then back then is i have a computer to find all this great music from 50s,60s,70s, and some of the 80s it helps me stay away from todays music (poop)

  • Allll aboaaaard for the time-train back to the 70s!!!! Have your tickets ready and keep all afros INSIDE the cabins please....Nah here we go !

  • This is STILL a relevant and all-time classic...I saw them at The Creep in Jamaica Queens on Parsons Blvd...heard over WNJR AM and W...W...R...L...AM New York CITY!! Hey Now...(the late Hank Spann)

  • no doubt I love pops in the record...sounds like a 45 record...

  • oh day by day must i keep listening to such as call themselves songbirds or musicians tsk tsk l m from both generation so I have a right to vote and i vote no for this nuwave bullloney

  • Remember buying this at Record Corner in Balham, best shop at the time for new soul releases

  • love this track soo much

  • Yes all this is true the 70's era was full of soul and blazing with big Afro's hot pants bell bottom jeans. 20 cent to ride the bus, real penny candy, 5 cent for a loose cigarette and the list goes on . But what i loved about it most of all was that it had life and color with style and originality. I said all that bullshit to say i love the 70's and i miss it from the bottom of my SOULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL !

  • I REMEMBER CATCHING THE BUS FROM 243 12TH ST N.E. ON MY WAY OVER TO 2019 PERRY ST N.E. TO SEE MY GIRL. WE WOULD LISTEN TO THIS SONG,A LITTLE BLUE MAGIC,DRAMATICS..OH HELL,THIS WAS THE TIME FOLKS....WASHINGTON DC.GOOD THING I KEPT ALL THE OLD SCHOOL MUSIC...CANT TAKE WHATS OUT THERE NOW....SEND ME SOME MAIL FOLKS....REMINISE....BBEU731@AOL.COM

  • I love this song; I've asked some of my friends if they knew about this songs & I was surprised half didn't remember it. Come on, this is good music!!

  • I found this record in my moms collection.

  • REPRESENTING GLASSBORO NEW JERSEY!!!

  • Great song by a great group! They're certainly in my hall of fame!!!

  • The music, melody, lyrics, vocals and technology are all different in today's music. Which is better? Let the debate rage on.

  • @rievans57 Today's music sucks....

  • @rievans57 anyone know who did the remake in the 80s.

  • Comment removed

  • @poravaoemalia chuck stanley in 1987

  • @rievans57 are you kidding me this was music todays songs are aboyt killing and other bad thing opld music is the best

  • @rievans57 to me, the only thing that modern technology has on the the older stuff is the speed in which you can work. That being said, having protools means nothing if you make crappy music. Currently music sucks and I don't even check for new releases anymore because they don't make music for me. If not for youtube I dont know where we'd be...

  • @rievans57 Lol, that's not even a debate...

  • THIS TAKES ME BACK HOME TO M.L.K JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN EAST ST LOUIS. WHEN WE USED TO HAVE THOSE BADD AZZED TALENT SHOWS. WE HAD MORE TALENT THAN THESR HIGH SCHOOLS CAUSE THEY USED TO COME OVER TO OUR SCHOOL TO CHECK US OUT!

  • My father was killed three months after i was born, forty years ago. Till this day, my mother still cries when she hears this song. In her opinion he sounded better but it brings back so many memories to her. Wish i had the opportunity to know him, he must have been a hell of a man to still draw a tear after forty years. THANKS FOR POSTING !!!

  • @GETUP83 Was your father in the group....????

  • @freein2339 No! My father was not in the group, he was just a gifted singer that left too soon. Thanks for asking!!!

  • @GETUP83 I remember this was a classic ..When we went to parties they always played this slow jam. Sorry to hear about your dad. I love this too!

  • @GETUP83

Thank you for sharing your story about your parenst. My condolences to you and your mom. She is a very special lady. It's not many people who still has a place in their heart for a lost loved one. GOD bless you. Your father was one in a million to have that kind of lasting effect on a very important woman.

  • @swiftred1 Thanks, i really appreciate that!!!

  • @GETUP83 Damn..thats a good story that matches the song in a way..sorry to hear

  • Wow just hearing this ur history brought me to tears, I no how ur mom feels cuz loosing a love and this song was purely back in the good ole REAL!! days!!!! I love this song!!!

  • @GETUP83 I'm really sorry to hear about your father...and you are very welcome..Posting this classic was my pleasure....

  • @freein2339 Thanks for posting this song. I lived in Brooklyn in the 60s and saw these guys at the Apollo. Most people dont realize that music played on every street corner during the 60s because there were small mom and pop music stores everywhere. Actually, if you went into a music store and the store didn't have the 45...they got it quick. Each song blasted that was a hit. That's why these classic groups were engraved in our minds. Hear it and go to the Apollo and see them live!!!

  • @GETUP83 ...hey get up..thats allright,i know how you feel,i lost my dad too some years ago,and many of the ole sckool songs bring back memories of my ole friend, but you can rest assured that if a song like this still makes your mom cry,its probably becuse your dad's spirit of real love is still present with both of yaw, tell your mom to stay strong becuse she will get to see him again and forever

  • Big Sis played this to death....I love it

  • I remember this song. I used to take guitar lessons in the same building where they recorded.

  • Dag, I remember this chorus. I just don't remember where. Probably from thumbing through my mother's collection. Nice song!!!!!!!

  • @freein2339

Thanks for your reply.. You know what is so ironic? Our parents said the same thing about our ERA..Go Figure Huh?

  • I read all the comments. I'm from Ohio so I had no connection beyond the record itself, but after reading I wish I could have been there seeing those shows. Amazing. Ron McGregor, Larry McGregor, Fred Kelly and Anthony Burke. Unbelievable!!!

  • Good memories of the summer of 1971. On the same day I got this one, I also bought "You're The Reason Why" by the Ebonys and "Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)" by the Stylistics. June 1971. Just got out of the 11th grade. Heard all three songs on a Top 40 station believe it or not. Some of those stations hopped on the great soul like this! I'm still mesmerized by the bridge ("I remember the day when I walked out on you..."). The music and the harmonies there. THE BEST!!!

  • one hit wonders damm shame
