  • We sang this today at a concert of a choir made up of high school students all over the district. It's so beautiful I can't even come up with words haha

  • Truly a beautiful rendition of the piece. What I love most about it is how the end was conducted, starting at "Lord... in your infinite mercy..." A lot of choirs breeze through that like it's nothing, but you slowed it down, savored every second, truly allowed the chords to sing out in all their glory and majesty. Like I said, truly beautiful.

  • incredible!!!!!!

  • Nicely done, has a very mature sound. My choir is doing it this year and I'm really excited to perform it :)

  • i sang this with my choir this last year, and it was a very powerful song. We dedicated it to the father of one of the girls in our choir-he lost his life to cancer just after our first performance of it.

  • This is very well done. When Dr. Ames conducted us it was a hair slower, but this is about what it should be. One can't sing this with the needed emotion if one isn't making it about their own situation... from the heart. Beautiful. Lux aeterna... lux aeterna...

  • We sang this in our school choir! It has such pretty chords~

  • Wow, simply gorgeous. I was moved to tears. Congratulations on a fine performance, Concordia Chapel Choir!

  • @2:40 ........ OHHH GOD!!!!!

  • Yay! We're about to sing this song in choir. I'm going to be a positive person and not act like I know everything; that was very beautiful. I wish I was there.

  • I love this song. I wish this choir would have picked up the tempo, though.

  • @bitesizedfan10 That's the marked tempo of the piece!! I'm performing it in choir right now. It seems a little slow to me too, but you want to do what the composer wanted!

  • We did this song for All State choir this year, and it was phenomenal

I'm hoping to attend Concordia next year, and now I'm even more excited! :) this is fantastic

  • @maddydancer777 Which All State Chorus were you in? The High School All State Chorus for South Dakota did this, and I sang bass. Any chance you were there in Aberdeen?

  • @WanderingPictures

I was there! i sang bass as well.

  • @WanderingPictures I sang this withe the South Dakota All State Choir, such a beautiful piece, and Dr. Arnold had us really sing this song for/about something, really had the emotion needed to be sang well.... such an amazing experience to have sing this!!!!

  • I had the honor of being under Dr. Ames at the All state community college choir conference my freshmen year of college. That song touched everyone in our choir due to the fact of why that song was written. Dr. Ames has touched many people with this beautiful song!

  • I hope you all are aware of the music you created. It was magical and inspirational.

  • OCMEA All County Music Festival senior high chorus sang this song. i was in it.. It still gives me chills. Everyone in the audience was crying. Such a beautiful, emotional piece.

  • Good performance, better than some of the others on Youtube

We sang this at the ACDA Western Division convention in Tucson earlier this year. Dr. Ames himself honored us as our director. Though the song is beautiful to hear, there is nothing quite like being a part of it.

  • My Director has met and shared stories of her meeting with a lot of the magnificent composers and if I remember correctly, she was actually at this concert. We sang this, although we did very well, not as extraordinary as this.

  • Oh my gosh, My school went to carnagie hall and we sang this...it was amazing just amazing just sounded like this

  • im sorry to say but i can't see any emotion in the faces of these kids

  • @bird123100 How can you even see their faces? They just look like smudges to me.

  • I am so fortunate to sing for Dr. Ames here at Belmont University, in his Belmont Chorale. This is my first semester and we will be singing this song under his direction this weekend in Atlanta... today was the first time for me to hear the song (as I sang) and I could not help but weep. Never have I been a part of something so emotional, I could see and feel his passion as he directed us. God has blessed me so much to end up with such a Godly man to learn from.

  • i just sang this song (second tenor) for a memorial service of our church choir pianist for at least 10 years, she was a very special lady, and it just made perfect sense, fell in love with the song and will always remember her

  • My college is doing the same song. I love it especially the ending.

  • This is very inspiring....so beautifully performed. Well....what else to say? Beautiful.

  • The conductor is Michael Smith. He is an absolute inspiration to work with and got to work with him on this song. Utter bliss singing this on stage. Goosebumps every time I hear it and my favorite choral piece ever.

  • oh my gosh this is amazing!

i loved you guy's this is da best ive seen here on youtube you guy's are amazing

  • It was AMAZING to sing this at Mars Hill. Our choir was amazing, as was Dr. Aspaas!

This group's good, too, but it's hard to get over not hearing it live. This was probably REALLY good to hear live.

  • it is very moving i only wish i didnt have to go through a death to feel the full effects of it.

  • the cluster on light is brilliant. I agree with 10liz22...we sang this in concert choir last year and it is by far the most moving piece i have ever had the privilege to perform.

  • Gorgeous song; I sang it at IMC :)
