  • arrow goes through the doe ricochets off log and damn near trips her up...nice

  • yep that's a liver shot. good hunting.

  • @lowfiwhiteguy Yes it was and she didn't go far, 40 yards tops :)

  • what pound recurve are you shooting?

  • @MEBoutdoors1 the bow is about 50# with my 29" draw

  • nicktimeseamus you obviously dont hunt. the deer jumped the string which happens in real live hunting situations. nice shot.

  • I dont know what to buy a recurve or a compound. I was looking at a Hoyt Buffalo recurve or a compound.

  • great job i killed my first doe with a recurve this year and its a great thrill

  • that wasnt a kill shot... it went straight through its back muscles

  • @nicktimseamus hummm....yes it was. It went right through the liver and I recovered her about 40 yards away.

  • @nicktimseamus that was a kill shot and also thank you for showing you know nothing about our sport....and traditional archery at that....stick to video games

  • what grain arrowheads do you reccomend shooting out of a 50 # recurve? i been shootin 100's but i was told to raise the weight

  • @jeffas93 I shoot 100 grains and haven't had any trouble with them.

  • @jeffas93 I shoot 125 and love them out of my recurve they hit hard and passed through every deer ive shot

  • @jeffas93 I use a 100 grain boradhead with my recurve that is 50#. A well placed arrow with that set up will do the trick!

  • wtf still a gud shot amigo... nice shot gud hunting..

  • im not complaining but? where is this where do u get to shoot a female deer???

  • @bboishowoff in Texas we can shoot female deer

  • @bboishowoff

it depends on the state ... im almost sure your allowed to shoot does in all 48 states of the US ... in texas i think you can harvest 4 does 2 bucks ... that was 08 season ... in mexico , your not allowed to shoot does ... which i think is absurd , there are many many does in my ranch ...

  • What is your draw?

  • @trapperjoe32 29"

  • u killed bambie

  • @Pulsy9 Nope that deer didn't have spots on it!

  • u look like john candy.i knew he was still alive lol

  • @johnrocks937 haha I wish I had his money :)

  • Very nice pass through

  • Im pretty new to bow hunting and i was wondering what kind of arrows would be good to shoot. I bought some Gold tip arrows, but was thinking of going to Easten Axis or maybe just some wood arrows because of how cheap they are. Any tips on what I should get?

  • Compound bows go with either aluminum or carbon arrows (I still shoot aluminum)

Recurve, Long Bow, Self bow...carbon or wood.

Gold Tip Arrows will be fine for either compound or trad gear.

    I wouldn't shoot wood from a compound..

I like Carbon Express Arrows myself...

I shoot the (CE) Wolverines from my recurve. They were very inexpensive and they shoot extremely well from the recurve I shoot them from.

  • if u find cheap wood arrows message me cus there expensive where i look

  • @johnrocks937 I like using carbon arrows with my recurve...carbon express wolverines

  • @mwh1994 What kind of bow do you have? If its trad make sure the arrows are heavy enough for the bow if they aren't you may have problems with the life of your bow.

  • @ZombieOnaStick21 Its an Darton Ranger that my father handed down to me over 30 years ago...400+ grain carbon arrow.

  • Did I see that right? The arrow went all the way through?

  • Yep, you saw right...blew right threw her and she only went about 40 yards :)

Magnus 100 grain Stinger 4 blade broadhead, Carbon Express arrow and a 30 yr old recurve #48 lbs at 28"

  • Thanks for the info on that bow I want to get into recurves mostly because I dont have a ton of money for a compound but also it seems it takes more skill to use one.

Great video btw thanks for posting.

  • @RisingSunOutdoors 48 lbs, and the arrow went through? Good bow!!!! Even if it's 30 years old. Have a good time with it!

  • @robinhoodfromhun...Yes it did. Good broadheads, good arrows and great shot placement will do it 99% of the time. :)

  • The cock feather was pointing away from the bows riser.

I now point the cock feather towards the bows riser and it shoots better that way.

  • wake up hunter, whats with all the camo?

Been bowhunting for 24 years jean and a flanel shirt or wool shirt as far scent don't buy any of that scent killer crap ! wind in your face. don't wast your money with expensive patterns. don't believe me do your homework.

  • You hunting in the cloths you want to and I'll hunt in my camo...

As long as it works for you then knock yourself out :)

I like camo and will continue to use it and I think it does work after finishing my homework.

  • Thanks for posting your hunt. Ive recently jumped into recurve shooting full boar! I just had Predator bows make me a 55lb 60" recurve. Again, nice shot!

  • nice job what kind of arrows r u shooting???

  • I'm using Wolverine arrows, which I think are made by Carbon Express cant remember at the moment. I picked up a half doz. from all places Walmart. Wanted to see how they shot and still shoot them today out of my recurve.

  • great shot! i just ordered 2 recurves one 56# and a 40#, i have been bowfishing and i found it really fun even with standing in one place for hours i just love it. will try to shoot some turkey in the country too

  • good shot!! thank you for sharing your success.

  • i think you should start with buying a recurve from the internet or hunting shop or visit in somekind of bow shootin. sorry if i have riding mistakes, im finish y'know :)

  • hey cool vid, ive always wanted to get into recurve shooting but i dont know where to start

isnt hunting with a recurve in a blind kinda awkward?

do you have to get the arrows cut down like on a compound?

    anything else thats really important?

  • It is a lot of fun and I enjoy is as much as using my compound.

It's not as awkward as people think, the blind was Ameristep Brickhouse and the bow is 56" long and I didn't hit the sides or top of the blind.

Arrows need to be cut to match the draw length of the archer.

  • I dont know bout yall but i hunted some from the ground last year and that blind just seemed to be a sent bomb and i was very careful about my scent too just wanted to know what yall thought. o and great shot clean pass through wheew how close where u, thats what i shoot is 50# thanx

  • The deer was 13 yards away

  • Dam they are fast..... before the arrow even hit they were all ready running!

  • they tend to hear the shot thats why its hard for me to hunt with a 40lb recurve they hear it before it hits them

  • what a shot man! really nice

  • Thats awesome you shoot a recurve, and nice lookin doe....good eats there!

    Cool footage *****

  • Great video...What did you have on the ground there that they were eating?

P.S that green laser shot was awsome

  • A couple hand fulls of alfalfa pellets I had some Goat and Sheep pellets and thought I'd toss some out...

  • I have changed my bow for a samick lightning in 50, does it provide a good penetration? what kind of broadheads do yow use? I have thought about howard hill in more than 160gr and tusker model concorde in 190 do yow agree? is that a good option? I whant penetration both are one cut

  • I think you will like the 50# better and yes you will get good penetration. I prefer a cut on contact broadhead and we use Magnus broadheads. I use 100 gr. Stinger and BuzzCut broadheads on a carbon arrow. I don't believe someone needs such a heavy arrow and broadhead for deer up to elk size game, sharp broadheads and shot placement is the key.

  • could you tell me the wheight of this bow? 50#? 60# thanks. I have bought a samick volcano in 60# do you consider it to heavy to hunt considering I´m 1,75 metres tall and 75.5 kg?

  • I'm shooting a 50# bow...I personally like a little less draw weight than what I can actually pull back.

I can draw back a 60# recurve and shoot it okay, but the 50# I can shoot much better.

It's all up to the individual archer on what feels good to them.

  • what kind of arrows do you use? also, what would you recommend for pheasant hunting?

  • I am shooting Carbon Express Arrows...inexpensive ones I got from Walmart (Wolverines) they shoot awesome out of my bow!

For aerial targets go with something light and fast...carbon with flu-flu feathers will work.

I'm always trying to shoot doves flying with my recurve (during dove season) I'm close a lot of the times!

  • congrats thats quite a hard task to pull off

  • I've been hunting for 3 years now and just started bowhunting last year. I plan on using a long or recurve this next season 2009-2010. I saw some slow motion videos of a longbow but using wooden arrows and they like shaked alot. I see your using carbon? if so does that reduce alot of the shaking which results in more accurate?

  • Excellent and good work with the traditional. 5

  • What poundage are you shooting?

  • 50#

  • would a 45 work

  • Yes 45 lbs. will work as well.

  • good sharp head and a dscent weight arrow would make 45lb more than adequate

  • Holy shit man. I just got a 50 lb recurve for christmas from a relitive. He said I should go bow hunting with him and I never thought you could pull off a hit like that with a bow. (I usually hunt with a 12 gauge shot gun) By the way. What type of arrow head was that.

  • Practice and when you are consistant with it go out and hunt! I practice out to 25 yards, however this shot was less than 15 yards.

I use 100 gr. Magnus Stinger and BuzzCut broadheads with the recurve and my compound bows. This head was a 100 gr. Stinger.

  • awesome vid, i started bowhunting this year and use a recurve but ive yet to get a shot

  • Be patient...I have shot a lot of 3-D shoots and small game with mine before shooting the doe.

  • Great job,congrats!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice shooting i got my first deer 2 weeks ago with a longbow.

  • Congrats!! Shooting with traditional gear is awesome!

  • I've been hunting with my recurve for two years and I've yet to get an acceptable buck or doe in range during the bowhunting seasons for them but this year, i've my tags and this has given me the confidence boost I need to attach em to something!

  • I like to hunt with both a recurve and compound. With the recurve you have to be more focused and practice a lot more to make the best possiable shot!

Good luck, practice and you will get one this year!!

  • Thanks, I hope so. I had a great teacher. Any tips for drawing in bucks? (I did not get drawn for a doe tag this year)

  • I have used Tink's Products. I used the Smokin Sticks with very good results. I had one buck walk in from the down wind side within 4 feet of the scent.

I've also used Dominate Buck Urine in a mock scrape and the next day it was much bigger. Doe in Rut works too. I had a buck working a scrape like walk up to the spot I poured the lure, stick his nose in and then lip curl.

  • I've switched from compound to recurve. Traditional archery is where my heart is, Great shot. Keep it up.

  • I haven't switched over since I like to shoot both :)

  • =))

    i'm only a begginer

but i've only hunted with recurve bows

actually i was not sure i could make it

but your shot made me belive

    uhaishuia

    i'll do it.. onde day

    ;D

  • You will be able to do it! My advise is to practice, practice and practice.:) Then when it comes time to do it pick a spot and drill it!

  • great shot

  • Thanks! She was my first deer with a recurve.
