  • I like :) its fresh and a new contemporary interpretation of that old one

  • my goodness...this is adorable, laughable and intriguing at the same time.

  • Wow, it's like Grace from "El Goonish Shive" meets the Kia Soul hamsters.

Having mentioned cars in context of a British production I can only add: Ambitious, but Rubbish.

  • 0:21 "Check it!"

    That's so unrap...-.-

It is kinda like my granny is pretending to be cool and totally understands our youth culture ;)

  • LOL! Wordsworth must be turning in his grave.

  • Having a man in a squirrel suit rap poems by Wordsworth is not, I think, the way to get people to go to a park.

  • I think the rap-style does the poem justice- meter is meter, after all. I could do without the squirrel suit though, it was funny for the first few seconds, and then I just became desensitized to it.

  • it must be nice knowing this is the first video that comes up when you type mcnuts

  • Why.

    Why.

    Why.

  • F**K YEAH !!!! \m/

  • @MrsJadeJerryJonas same thing just happened to us ! AHHAHAHA

  • Show us your mad video O.o

  • Is that a squirrel? It reminds me of Bambi...

  • idk i think it's kinda cool

  • People who insist on respect for "classical" poetry should realize that Wordsworth was a Romantic--a group who espoused using the "speech of common men" and recorded the folk and pop culture of their day, incorporating it into their work, it's both serious and fun. Wordsworth himself was considered a little over the top with his raving about nature.

  • haha, we are using this in our presentation on Wordsworth. <33.

  • loooooool it is obviously a joke. some people have one dimensional concepts of humor. i'm at uni and have been studying wordsworth for years, and we all thought it was funny. the fact that it is for an actual tourist video doesn't mean it is not a funny joke. eugh. why do people think this is so serious and everything always has to be either/ or.

  • my english literature teacher sent me here

  • @MrsJadeJerryJonas

I can make you even wetter. *winking face*

  • this is the greatest thing ever lolz

  • Holy nuts!

  • I find it sad how the user who uploaded this thinks it was a joke. If only it was.

  • The thing is, it's a squirrel. Interface with the kids fail.

  • i sang this for stdavids day at my skool

  • Our English teacher showed us this today....LOL! :)

  • I LOVE IT

  • MC Nuts roolz! spitting the big W how it was always meant to be like a bushy tailed gangsta.

  • fail

  • oh dear!....i really don't know what to say about this... :( I mean i can see why they did it...you know to make it more accessible but this does not work! The worst thing is it is 'serious' and thats what makes it diabolical.....they should have taken notes from another video on Youtube called the 'Bronte Sisters Power Dolls'...that is really good and manages to depict classic literary ideas in a fun way....check it out!

  • @mmyfs1 yaknow, i've actually spoken to the guy who was in the squirrel suit in this video. it's not serious (as should be blatantly obvious to anyone) but i'm not even going to attempt to argue with you.

  • @mmyfs1 wow

  • @mmyfs1 I'm confused about what of this doesn't work

  • fo' shizzle mo wigga

  • I...yeah. Just...not....don't know what to say about this. :P

  • Does anybody know the name of the guy with the deep voice who had a r & b song in the 90's in spoken word

  • my english teacher showed us this when we were doing poetry

  • One of the most surreal things I have ever seen - I am definitely using it in my Romantic period literature class. You thought this video was a good idea??? LMAO

    From Conce, Chile

  • What's that disturbed piece of earth beside those daffodils. Oh yes it's Wordsworth spinning in his grave.

  • the guy in the outfit is a local rap artist called Joe Walmsley.

  • Not bad

    Awful.

  • Great stuff! Now please do some Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, Samuel Taylor Coleridge etc, etc.

  • Y do teachers watch this??????

  • "there must have been 10000,

    I saw in my retina.

took no more than a glance to recognise they were beautiful,

    ex cetera"

The ex cetera part doesn't even make any sense!

  • it's fucked up how funny i find this...

  • hasha some one needs to revive wordsworth and show him this

  • I don't mind the dancing squirrel; what bothers me is that the poem has been completely cheapened by the addition of new words and sentences. Perhaps I am a purist, but I wish that MC Nuts had simply rapped The Daffodils, instead of poorly embellishing it.

  • Call me a wet blanket if you like, but I hated this. I understand why it was made, and appreciate that they were trying to make the area and the poem more accessible, but I can't say I think it was a good idea. I'm fifteen, and Wordsworth is one of my favourite poets. I do have a sense of humour, and can see how this video could be considered amusing, but I personally find it almost sacrilegious.

  • I agree 100%.

  • Can somebody explain the Squirrel costume?

  • @TessaHead

Kids today think furries are tha bomb?

  • Very cool.

  • I love this...it is brill. I am sure himself would have loved it too.

  • 0:55 is legend the jumping bit hahahaha

  • Just in case you didn't know - this is an ACTUAL tourism video, not a hilarious Youtube joke. This is REAL. And it wasn't meant as satire. This was SERIOUS.

    Yeah.

  • clearly you are CORRECT! i mean i can blantantly tell by EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS VIDEO that whoever made it and what it was made for was intended to be taken VERY SERIOUSLY AND ONLY SERIOUSLY. everything about the rendition of this song and the accompanying visuals, whether intended for tourism or otherwise, is so obviously put in such a completely serious tone. i completely believe that you have indeed discovered the true insight behind it. i totally believe you. whoever made was being serious.

  • @turboskanker

No, it really is serious. They even showed it in schools to kids (I had it shown to me for christ's sake).

    It is 100% serious.

  • @Grashnook wow. this is just....wow. this is the kind of thing you'd see being made fun of in a TV show. the fact that this is real is just...I have no words to describe how stupid this ad is. it looks like some kind of parody of what it is.

  • @turboskanker, was there really a need to act like an a-hole?

  • Comment removed

  • @turboskanker There are two different senses in which this could be 'serious'. (1) It has a sincere respect/affection/reverence for the original poem, its subject matter *and* for rap music. It isn't trying to satirise, mock or belittle anything. (2) It isn't intended to cause mirth.

The video is "serious" in the first sense but not the second. It's stupid but *not* intended to imply the stupidity of something else - quite the opposite. This is what constitutes 'lameness'.

  • (also: sarcasm) d-:

  • i mean really now. nothing says "you should seriously visit here and have a very serious time when you visit and not have any fun about it cause this is very serious business" like a squirrel hopping around a field of daffodils and rapping a wordsworth poem d-;

  • brilliant

    brings it to life

    sacred + profane = quality

  • absoultely ridiculous.....

  • @Betskikins I agree. All the beauty and emotion of the poetry has been lost, in a sad attempt to appeal to a tiny minority of uninterested young people.

  • as the poster of this video, i completely disagree with you. i wouldn't have even found this interesting if it wasn't for my own love of poetry and the human race that creates art in the first place. in my opinion, nothing is ever so sacred that it can't stand up to being mocked or at very least (in the case of this video) being simply made light of or portrayed in a rather silly fashion. anything that claims to be the contrary is clearly not worth it's own salt as art in the first place.

  • nar the fact hes a big sqrile

  • my teacher played this in class and i couldent stop lafing its a tune tho

  • XD Mine too. And he was comparing the words of the original versus this one and going "isn't that interesting? 'INSIDE the breeze!'".

  • our englishteacher did same today omg i immediately needed to watch it again so funny :D

  • and the worst thing is, this wasn't actualy made to take the piss

  • its an advert for the lakes district and the squirrel was a character in some beatrix potter thing so it is a symbol of the lake district the poem was by william wordsworth daffodils

  • This song really respects Wordsworth by not putting it on the shelf, but it uses his poem for real fun!

  • Respect woodsworth oh the irony

  • OMG

    I died laughing!

  • Wordsworth will be turning in his grave.

  • What the hell is a "pogo dance"?

  • my teacher showed me this is so funny

  • Comment removed

  • thats the worst rap ever. its hilarious ever.

why the hell do they have a sodding squirrel

  • getting the point of the video

    your doing it wrong

  • Because he's called MC Nuts.

  • Please, somewhere tell me where i can download this. I must have it!

  • Respect....Wordsworth...two words i never saw coming together...

  • my teacher showed me this aswel i find it quite funny we have to make our own but with the same words and different ways we can do it

  • MC Nuts are my favorite kind of nuts.

  • I love Have I got News for You's take on this. Mind you, it does make you wonder who comes up such strange ideas as a rapping squirrel...

  • The same person who's behind every cringe-worthy attempt at connectin' with us yoof: David Cameron.

I bet you anything that's him in that squirrel suit, tellin' it how it iz for all his conservative flower-lovin' homies init sista.

    =)

  • Oh we all watch Dave! Just been on again - brilliant. Am sure Wordsworth would have loved it, it's like one of Coleridge's opium dreams.

  • This is far stranger than Kubla Khan! Besides, rap wasn't invented for over 150 years after: I know narcotics have psychotropic properties, but 'predictive' qualities...?

  • Wordsworth is either spinning in his grave or laughing his a** off on a cloud....

    I heart MC Nuts.

  • My english teacher showed us this video in class after we read this poem. this video is really cute :)

  • mine too xP

  • The best professor I've ever had showed this video in class. All our mouths dropped and we laughed hysterically. I'm sure Wordsworth would be proud. I especially like the part where the butler pours the gangsta squirrel champagne. LOL

  • One of my assignments this weeks for lit class was to watch this video, very interesting.

  • ... and you see, this is the beginning of the reversal of man's development

  • yeah... THIS is what kids like, daffodils and squirrels. this will almost certainly get kids into poetry

  • @Lardcaptain For real!

  • i just saw a bit of this on have i got news for you. i was just like WTF

  • i jst saw this on have i got news for you lol

  • lol u were watching dave as well then?

  • not the squirrell he aint a twat

  • This might be the funniest video on youtube

  • This is the most disgusting abberation to ever congeal in the english language.

  • twat

  • yeah I do sound like a twat, I was joking, I understand that it is not serious. I was poking fun at those who don't.

  • respect wordsworth LOL!!! mc nuts rocks

  • i watched dis at school once lol

  • I smell genius here.

  • Wow, that was even worse than reading "The Prelude".

  • This is pure gold.

  • yea william word worth was my great great grand i prefer this verion tho...

  • LOL

  • This was awesome. Very nice. Haha.

  • hahaha...respect wordsworth

    love it

  • Are they havin a laugh. who though this would be a good idea.

  • I love this!!! William Wordsworth is my fav poet.

  • yo that was TIGHT!!!

  • I did an emergency stop for a red squirrel the other day. Wasn't as big as this one though.

  • my teacher Mr. Solt showed me this and i love it!!! We miss you Mr.Solt! Come back to Courtland!!!!

  • Whoever made this should be put in a barrel filled with rabid squirrels with sharpened teeth. Its so bad its funny,

  • Absolutely brilliant.

  • This is so funny, i can't believe that anyone actually did this. I just came from a HIGNFY vid and i only saw a piece of it, but the rest is just unbelievable. What the hell is the point of th ebreak dancing? LOL

  • Why is there no dance re-mix???? Truly inspirational...

    *respect Wordsworth* LOL!!!!!

  • As a Cumbrian, this is embarrasing. As an advertising and marketing specialist, this is utterly appalling. It misses the point on every level. Whoever spent money on it shouldn't have a budget to spend. Whoever thought it was a good idea, at any stage, should not be in a position to judge.

  • Lol, it was probably a "jobsworth".

  • i gave 5 stars cos it so funny!!!

i mean come on it was made by some Politician like Gordon Brown said, "the youth will like this, it is their style of music," which i know its not!!! :D:D:D

  • i think this is great lol

  • I'm afair, as a publish poet, I would beg to differ. Probably the best poem I've written I did at about 3am, was just lying there when all of a sudden over came this sorta...Whoosh.

I just started writing, re writing what I'd written and writing mroe around what was I'd written - and thus a poem was born.

  • That's so cool! I mean, of course it doesn't compare with the original poem, but your version is really funny. :D

  • we had to watch this at assembly at skool :O yawn lol

  • I think I heard Wordsworth turning in his grave.

Also, "Respect Wordsworth"?! Was that meant to mean "show respect to Wordsworth" or, as I believe some young people speak, "Respect Wordsworth" in their strange, convoluted speaking manner?

  • fab

  • Good God. What will the world think of next?

  • If Wordsworth and Coleridge are the Fonzie and Ritchie Cunningham of the Romantic Era, then MC Nuts is Romanticism's Leather Tuscadaro.

  • TUNNNEEE

  • this is supposed 2 help teenagers learn !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    its disturbing

  • My TA made me watch this for a brit lit class..... yeah

  • Ok, maybe it's just plain crap.

  • rentakill locked n loaded

  • Lol, damn straight. This is the lamest thing I've seen. It's just so bad, it's good!

  • squirrels are rodents - mc nuts is just a rural ratboy - exterminate!

  • you admit to having helped on this!? this is one of the shittest things i have ever seen, it makes me want to kill myself, thats literally how shit it is.

  • I helped with that vid. I know the guy who did the squirrel stuff (not the rap, though) and was basically his skivvy for the day! Funny though...

  • Mr Pease does it way betterr!!

    lurv

    Bablake Student

    x

  • best vid ever! I´ve seen it in my literature course at uni :-P it rockz!

  • i dont think its that bad it brought the poem to the public didnt it??? yea think about tht!

  • iluvdarren16, that has to be the stupidest thing anyone has ever said, in the history of the world, ever!

Do you mean to say that nobody has heard of William Wordsworth? Jeez!

Do me a favour and look up the word: philistine.

  • EXCUSE ME! i never said no one has heard of it.. duh!.. i just said it brought it more publicity.. if your gonna be a jackass then don't reply at all!

  • Er, no, actually, it didn't.

Didn't you know of William Wordsworth before this bozo put his squirrel suit on?

    I pity you.

  • Well thats an interesting way to boost tourism.

  • That guy is nuts.

  • ROFL :D

  • i think that pretty much ruined wordsworth for everyone. im not really a big fan of poetry but it WAS a pretty poem. SHAME on mc nuts. SHAAAAAAAME!!!

  • awesome!!

  • That was freakin' awesome; no doubt about it.

  • oh dear god

  • shoot that noob how is in that costemw

  • ZOMFG thats well bad

  • Big up the g to the squizzles fo shizle to this bizzle, me n the massif, peace out bruvs yellowboy representin.

  • lol! although i am worried they think we'd think the squirrel was 'cool' it looks more like something out of a children's TV program.

besides, would they really want rap fans in the lakes? they'd probably be scared of them, being teenagers and therefore all absolute hoodlums, of course...

    'respect Wordsworth' ha!

  • calling something "an insult to an art" sounds like a total oxymoron to me. one man's insult is another man's art. one man's "stupid words" are another man's poetry. so far as i'm concerned, anyone even attempting to seriously ridicule this video is contradicting themselves. hip-hop music (in its true form) is both art and poetry. if anything this is an homage.

  • it's decent. i mean it's definitely a new take on the poem, but i'm not sure if that's a plus or a minus. i was a little upset that in the newspaper article about it they shamelessly admitted that they thought they had to do this because young people (the YouTube generation) couldn't relate to wordsworth, so they needed hip-hop and a squirrel with zany antics (or something to that effect), which is a BLATANT insult to the art of poetry.

  • Educational standards are the lowest ever. Don't you get it? You are supposed to READ the poem. And anyway, why would such wonderful words need noise (or even music)? The poem was inspired by the countryside and the lakes. What does it have to do with stupid imagery. There is no hope for the world .... certainly not for beauty and sensitivity. Cumbria Tourist Board - go drown in the lake!

  • Oh, come on! I taught this poem for years and still love it. The rap version is fun and says the same thing, albeit in less lovely language.

From an old retired English teacher

  • The first poetry was meant to SPOKEN--not read. Poetry is about recitation. Also, poetry is all about imagery.

  • Nowadays, the literate read. Personally, I am no genius so I cannot memorise every poem and thereore have to read them! I'm sure you are the Einstein of the poetry world. I also rarely recite poetry, as unlike the great apes, I can read in my mind. Imagery, yes, but using one's imagination. Another thing in short supply, as it hangs with originality.

  • On the one hand, this is terrible.

On the other, there's a sort of surreal genius about a breakdancing squirrel rapping Wordsworth.

  • Stupid Squirrel!

  • what a pile of cock! some farmer please cap him with your 12 guage now!
