When did they change the tempo of Cold Rain and Snow and slow it down? Did it evolve over time or did they just one day stop playing it so fast?
Seriously, I'd like to know. This is it one of those questions that keeps me up late at night.
I once thought I'd figured out that they didnt play it at all in 1968, and when they brought it back in 1969 it was the slower relaxed version, however, this was taped in October 1969, so I am DEAD wrong. Does anyone know????
@LostSailorPhoenix Well, let's see... 1970-02-11 show I have it's slow and a 69-12-12 I have is about like this one so it's definitely some time between then. the 69 is still slowed down from the blistering 66/67 ones I dig but yeah.. or maybe it's not but it's definitely played much differently, huh.
I was there this night. Great to hear it again thanks! Jr. Walker & All Stars Tore it Up! too. Was a fun rock'in night at The Fillmore West. I'm a big fan of this era GD.
Loved the captions. Stumbled here while doing a search of 'sitting on top of the world'. Was watching Willie Nelson & Asleep at the Wheel on Austin City Limits last night. Check out Les Paul and Mary Ford's version if you haven't heard it yet. Les Paul's is a genius. The Yardbirds cover is also worth a look. Cream reunion 2005 is a classic too with Jack Bruce vocal.
Awesome! This is just... awesome! Grateful Dead live in '69, and that annotation banter going on is great! Keep 'em coming, @crocostimpy!
