  • everybody was so slim in those days... was that cocaine? or simply better feeding habits?

  • @MrCarlopstar i think it was cocaine dude. heroin too.

  • just love these guys... Clapton was affraid that they didn't had rehearsed enough for that gig...

  • Just music. These guys were every bit as real as Joplin. It was a grand party.

  • A slower but great version of my favourite stones song!

  • i like this version of my under my thumb a lot better but it's because steve's voice but yeah

  • An odd choice for a song since the Stones followed them in July 1969, and the very song the Stones were playing during the infamous Altamont concert the same year when the Hell's Angels knocked out one of the Airplane and murdered a black man in the audience. My theory about the Altamont indecent is the Stones didn't understand the culture of the California Hell's Angels vs the English Hell's Angels.Yes they were there in Hyde Park as security. They said please and thank you. US H'sA=skinheads.

  • genialer Sound der Hammond Orgel und Steve´s Stimme.

    Hammer Song !!!

  • I'm in the process of building a tele/strat neck project guitar because of seeing this footage a few years ago. Amazing look and tone, I could listen to Clapton's tone and playing from this concert all day.

  • could you imagine sitting in the crowd and seeing all that i would be in awe

  • I wish I heard rhythms in my head like ginger baker was hearing them.

  • man i wish i could've been there!

  • i want to be steve winwood so bad!

  • Steve Winwood has the soul of Marvin Gaye!

  • Clapton bought three Strats from the Sho~Bud steel shop in Nashville around this time. Assumedly this neck is from one of those Strats, all of which were parted out and mix-matched. One became Blackie, one went to Harrison, and not sure about the other one. This could be the Blackie neck.

  • @toocommercial the neck actually comes from Brownie.

  • @toocommercial one of those was given to Winwood himself.

  • That's definitely a Tele body that Clapton's playing, but the headstock looks more like one from a Strat? Was a Strat neck transplanted onto a Telecaster body for this gig?

  • Winwood>Jagger, Clapton>Richards, Grech> Wyman, and I will call Baker v Watts a toss-up since I think Charlie is a GREAT rock and roll drummer....

  • @A10thunderbolt Did you know that Ginger got his first gig thanks to Charlie? He replaced Charlie in Alexis Korner's band when Charlie joined the Stones. They have very different styles, but both have strong Jazz roots.

  • the stones would or should be proud of this version of their hit song.

  • A brilliant deconstructing of the Stones classic.

  • they all looked so young here. Great.

  • Clapton plays Telecaster? Great !

  • Beautiful cover...

  • best band ever

  • I'd say this is the best cover of Under My Thumb.

  • reminds me of being a little kid

  • Lovely version. =)

  • The magic is in the sublety and chemistry of every bandmembers playing.

  • Too short of an existence

  • really, really enjoy this version, winwood makes the song soulful/RnB sounding and gives a whole new feeling

  • PROVES TO TODAYS 'ROCKSTARS" (YEAH!!!) YOU DON'T ANYTHING BUT YOUR AXE AND A FEW AMPS.....PLUG IN AND PLAY, KIDS!!!

  • i feel sorry for clapton's fretboard...

  • over 100,000 showed up for this free show

  • Steve, Ginger, Eric and Rick... cant get any better than that.. sorry..

That concert was in June, the 7th... over 100.000 people!

Read the Eric Claptons Autobiography.... its awesome and he writes about that concert!

Sorry my crapy english.... greetings from Brazil!

  • The Who recorded a version of this 1966 Stones song, along with "The Last Time," while the backbone of that group was facing jail time. It was the spring of 1967; Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were arrested at Richards's Redlands estate, but their arrest became much-publicized (eventually their charges were dropped), leading one to headline the event as "Who Breaks a Butterfly on a Wheel?"

  • i think this is one of the best versions of under my thumb. i mean besides the original, of course.

  • great line up,great blend of talents, shame it didnt last longer...

  • yummy

  • a rarity and fun to check out-

  • claptons solo in this song is so uplifiting

  • @democratusnostradams Its amazing how good they were, when they were just babies!!

  • i love blind faith but how could they match up to the Rolling Stones on this cool mysogenistic anthem! BF are way to melancholy and stoned!

  • I want that telecaster!

  • @TheRickynow its got a strat neck,Eric wanted a strat but didnt dare use one live regularly till after Hendrix died, have you noticed that..

  • @onlyjoetee Yes! I hadn't noticed the width of the headstock unti you said that. Thank you!

  • @TheRickynow hahahaha yeah strange thing, eric was using a strat privately but didnt want to use one publically in case people said he was copying hendrix,it was only after 1970 when jimi died that he started using a strat in public,i always noticed that..

  • @onlyjoetee he liked the sound of the tele but didnt like the thin neck, the neck on that tele is the same one that ended up on the brownie telecaster

  • @onlyjoetee i mean brownie stratocaster

  • @TheRickynow Just take a Strat neck and put it on a telecaster body

  • @TheRickynow

Tele Custom with a Strat Neck

  • @williebrown01 You ever notice that Hendrix once used a strat with a telecaster neck ?

The footage is on youtube some place. Wonder if they exchanged ?

  • @alexlancer11 It is very possible as Clapton had a habit of "lending" out his guitars. Look at what happened to the Fool SG.

  • ♥ .

  • Whilst this isn't Blind Faith's strongest performance, it's still pretty damn good and the best version I've heard other than the original

  • @RobPic914 it's their strongest cuz it's their only

  • @RobPic914 - cut them some slack, this was their first gig!

  • @1954telecaster I think you misunderstood, I'm a huge fan of Blind Faith, I was saying that it wasn't the strongest song in the gig, but it's as close as anyone will get to the sheer brilliance of the Stone's original

  • @RobPic914

sheer brilliance of the original - hahaha

brilliance and Stones are two words that don´t fit together

  • look i love blind faith,,but this song falls way short of the abilities.

i saw them live in 69..and i saw cream in 67.. 10 feet away from me

    so dont put me down.

  • Shite, terrific camera work.

  • guy at 1:20 has a swastika on his helmet.

  • @sechristi yeah those hells angels arent exactly known as being the most peaceful people :P

  • Do I hear people yelling "Bring back Cream!" ? LOL - I would've agreed with them

  • Legendary, classic, awesome! Great music, great band, great time period.

  • unbelievable !!!! what a found!! thank you for posting this!!!
