given the large surface area of any ship, yes, a free-fall GPS guided weapon can hit but probability is lower. You'd have better luck having a seagull shit on your ship than a jdam dropped from 45,000 feet.

Actually, Carriers are the best-defended ships there are. First, their aircraft are amazingly good at stopping threats before they reach the carrier, be that threat a submarine or an enemy missile launcher. Then, the carriers have extra weapons systems that can shoot down missiles long before they reach the ship.
