I watched this musical for the first time. One is very great but this what i did it for love is more. i could empathy to each player because their distress or whatever they think are all of us could understand and had experienced in life. so this is human drama.
What I love so much abut this is that it speaks to so many people. 'The gift' Diana sings about being what we do or what we are and having the awareness that, whatever we do for our careers (be it performing, in my case, or whatever) and / or to make us happy, it is a gift that we will have to give back one day. It's beautiful.
Sometimes, when I wanna give up dancing... some songs will just show up, or some people will say something to me to motivate me again... I am not a dancer who has been trained since the childhood... only noticed the love for dancing when in age 27.. but I know deep down in my heart... I will never stop dancing.. or wanting to dance!! This song is just great, and I remembered I cried when I first heard this song in 2007 in NYC.

ok i think the 13 that disliked the video are just trying to be funny this is a great song that i sang for an audition and i wish i could do this show someday!! it was FANTASTIC on broadway and the movie was amazing
I love A Chorus Line, and this song in particular, because it does relate to dancers, but to most performers as well. I want to be on Broadway someday, and if I had to give it up, I wouldn't regret a single thing I did to get there.
I remember watching "Every Little Step" and couldn't help but feel so inspired and excited for what i love to do. Listening to this song makes me love it even more.
A Chorus Line is so brilliant. I miss the 70s and what this all means. Innocence. And dreaming the dream. Following those dreams, with love and heart.
a few years ago you left the sweetest note about my daughter. I just wanted to thank you again for your kind encouraging words. She is still dancing and plans to do YAGP next year. hope all is well with you. That is our favorite musical!!
Always one of my Broadway favs....this song tends to make me think, feel, "what if?"....and how I missed my calling and didnt grab it when "there"....Oh well, maybe in heaven.
I've always loved this musical and this song. I am not a dancer. I couldn't begin to dance AND sing! Karaoke is where I begin and end my broadway career - sadly!
When I orginally heard this song at the age of 15 in 1975 when I 1st saw the original show, I didnt really understand it . Now at the age of 48 and having danced for over 30 years and w/ everyone, j cry and smile when hearing it. I have a great 2nd career, but as they saw " I left the dance, but the dance has never left me"
@mpolko I love that you have a direct connection with this song and the backstory, but personally, I think anyone can connect whatever passion they have to this song if they had to give it up suddenly. For me, this is how I feel about music. Specifically, playing cello. I know I'll probably have to stop some day, but if I was forced to stop, I'd remember all of the fond memories. That, however, I could never see myself do with singing. But this reaction would probably still be the case.
This song has to be one of the most precious and poignant showtunes I've ever heard. This fall I start my final semester at college. Being a theater major there, I should really credit this song as my final word for when I go.
I saw the documentary made about the revival, "Every Little Step", at a SIFF theater...pure excellence, I also recommend looking up "I met the Walrus" on youtube...not very similar actually, but it leaves you with a familiar feeling you get after listening to this song.
The poignancy of this song is unequalled. The melody, the words, the whole scene, just put you in a mood to remember so many things about your own life that didn't come to pass. But, you don't forget, ever.
The montage is from the Broadway Revival of Chorus Line. I saw the movie about staging the revival, "Every Little Step" so i recognize several of the dancers (and what they went through to get the part). I am in no way a dancer but I loved the film. The pursuit of excellence requires great sacrifice. I would love to see the show.
When most people first hear this song they think it is about love of a person. It's about more than that. It's about love of a way of life. Think of the thing you love most in life, the thing that you are most passionate about and then imagine losing it. Now sing the song with that loss in mind.
I just saw ACL on Wednesday for the first time. I had heard the music many times from my mom playing it but I had no idea how amazing the show would be.
my favorite song from one of my most favorite shows. i feel sooooooo fortunate to be able to see the revival (and original revival cast) while it was on broadway
i'm singing this for solo and ensemble this year!!! i never heard it before and i never heard of the musical but once my choir director played it i was like OH MY GOSH! that's my song! she picked out the perfect one =) plus it fits my voice. DEFINITELY AN AMAZINGGGG SONG!!
Man, this was always one of my favorite songs from a musical. It kind of makes me sit and think of the "regrets" I have, of not going "for it", and pursuing my dreams of dance and such when younger. Depresses the hell out of me, especially now approaching my 43 rd birthday. OMG, I am going to be sick.
it was so pretty! especially when we went "Gone, love is never gone" The soprano(me!! =]) and the altos together were beautiful and the movement in the Bass section was fabulous. add in the tenors and we had a wicked awesome recital.
Saw it in LA a couple months ago. Absolutly fantastic. The simplicity of the set was perfect, and Sheila is classic. Trying out for this show must have been really ironic.

I saw this about two years ago with this very cast. I'm so happy to hear this sung hear because the girl who played Moralos was having ann off night. She sounds absolutly amazing here. The dancing in this show blew me away, although I remember feeling a bit ansy during music and the mirror, thats what it's called if i stand corrected, because of the lack of intermition. But other than that, outstanding =]
I saw the show with this very cast! They were AWESOME! The girl who sings "Tits & Ass" was especially great (the blonde girl all the way to the left at 1:05). SO funny!
I just saw this show on broadway, and, to be honest, I was amazed. The choreography was great, the whole show was funny, and the singing was phenomenal! I absolutely adored it! A must see!

The first time I ever saw this show was when I 10
And when Zach said "If today were the day you had to stop dancing, what would you do?"
I legit started to break down crying. In my seat. At 10.
To any dancer, this is the definition of our lives.

I have seen "A Chorus Line" six times, and six times I am in tears. This is my all-time favorite musical.

I saw this on Broadway a few weeks ago. I'm not ashamed to say that I had tears in my eyes during this song.

I saw the show with this very cast! They were AWESOME! The girl who sings "Tits & Ass" was especially great (the blonde girl all the way to the left at 1:05). SO funny!
