  • I have been performing the surya namaskar for 4 days now. I have been getting severe lower back pain since I started doing this. Any idea how I could fix it?

    dont do the whole cycle first

    if u r a bigner try 3-4 cycles a day

    then u increase the no. gradually

  • @divyapoduval11 Typically Surya Namaskar is not recommended to those having severe back pain. To prevent the back injury don't bend back too much during the standing pose. Do it slowly at your own pace. Do the cobra pose without pushing the hands to the floor. Avoid jerks at all cost. The people in video are experts, believe me you'll be able do Surya Namaskar like them if you practice it daily in the morning.

  • @rjbwish13: Thanks! Yeah I did it a little slow and tried to understand what I was doing wrong. Realised that I was doing the posture before the cobra pose incorrectly. Once I corrected it I am feeling pain only in my muscles, not the back :)

  • Superb video. Well performed and correct version found on youtube for my daily routine & in squeezed schedule. I didn't feel it too fast. The performers delay enough for a deep purak-rechak, pause 1sec in each step before transitioning smoothly to next aasana without any jerks. Before this video, I used to go from bend down to bend back with stretched hands prior to end of Surya Namaskar, and suffered stress in my heart & back so I stopped doing it. Thanks to this video, I do yogaasan daily now.

  • @mrmrsmoron, keep your knees soft and bent as much as you need to. You can also get yoga blocks to bring the ground closer to you.

  • This is not correct.. this is too fast.. its like a drill.. it should be more relaxed where you can connect your body, mind and soul.. you should feel ever movement. Check other videos on the same ke words.

  • @sundergaru agree. way too fast. and i have never heard of suryanamaskar being performed with any kind of music. You need silent, peaceful surroundings for Yoga

  • @TheRohitron In Surya Namaskar you are supposed to perform in tune with purak, rechak. Note:The performers are pausing for one second and smoothly transitioning to the next Asana without any jerk. This is the correct version for a daily routine and short on time. Surya Namaskar can be performed at your own pace. There is no rule on how fast or how slow one should perform, as long as its done in tune with your deep breathing, 1sec pause, and smoothly as shown in video. Best one.

  • It seems easy but its not at all...especialy laying down on 8 points is the most difficult for me...for me its impossible chest and forehead to touch the ground in the same time....

  • @mrmrsmoron You have to practice for it it takes some time to do so there are some exercise which you can do to improve your stretch

  • @mrmrsmoron - keeping legs straight is important; just bend down as mush as you can - dont worry about touching the ground. - initially my finger tips would barely go below my knee :)

  • I hate the music, it sounds like a military beat. This is suryanamaskar? I think yoga has been hijacked to serve the military here...

    Do proper suryanamaskar, slowly without jerking and with full stretch...and you will never suffer in life. In fact you will experience true happiness..but do things this way and you might suffer serious injury.

  • I fail to understand why surya namaskar is done in such a hurry here! The whole point is to stay in a posture for a while, and observe your breath.

    Would any day recommend videos of John Scott/David Swenson/Richard Freeman.

  • u fool, who told you this should be done slowly and only at 5 am daily. this is ment for salutatons to sun. Please learn what is the purpose of doind surya namaskar and how does it affects human body and mind. All yoga nad meditations are done for human health and stability and to regain and retain positive energy of this nature. Pitty on You

  • I used to do it every morning 7 years back before getting into my undergrad. Then, got out of touch with it in stupid hostels politics and stress..I need to pull it back cause I can't recall any other Yoga out as strong as this one. Ashtang Pranam (eight body part salutation) is a rare one! Om Mitraya Namah! :)
