Hello, When ever I try to print the image it is always much smaller than 8x10" and than in the video. I use A4 paper so it should work, but even in print preview it is much smaller. Please help currently drawing from screen. :/
the faces on the ceiling thing was cool. I think the Twilight Zone did a show about that once....Way scary, butso cool. I always think of that when I see faces in shapes on the floor or walls.
Hey I wonder do you use a tortillion to blend? Because I've always used my fingers, but then again I use HB pencils to draw, not 2B,3B or 4B,because they easily smudge.
I did not know it will help to keep the pencil moving. I never tried that. I was to scared of making mistakes. This is soo cool of you to do this for actual people that want to learn these techniques. I agree with those that say you will make a great teacher, unless you already are; nevertheless, you rock.
Why didn't I find your tuts sooner?! My dad pays a lot for my private art class and my teacher doesn't explain things to me! She just gives me a few things to draw and criticize my work.
are you serious about looking at the ceiling? i have been doing that my whole life, and i thought i was the only one who saw things like that, i see the whole world like that, and its great that i no know that there are others like me!
Historians believe that's how the first drawings man ever made came about. They saw shapes in the patterns on the cave walls and basically traced what they saw.
Me too. Sometimes I just bring a sketchbook and look at a textured floor, wall, table, or clouds and I can copy what I see. Some of my best illustrations come about that way. I see some interesting shapes and patterns and my mind fills in the rest. I always see people or creatures of some sort.
dont u love youtube, pay a few thousand dollars to go to art school, when u can just wathc these videos, why rent movies, just search them on youtube, do u have a question about car motors, just search a tutorial on youtube, YOU GOTTA LOVE YOUTUBE
You mentioned that a lot of people have trouble shading when they get the measurements right. I'm the opposite i am able to shade fairly well but my measurements are terrible. Of cause i'm going to watch the rest of your videos but are there and quick tips you can give me on how to fix my measurements?
i know this artist is great, i knew it from the beginning, and wathever he's draws were, i've always loved to watch he's draws him, no metter of my day, he always put smile on my face with his draws ;)
interesting method, i'm a natural born artist and have been drawing since i was a kid... the
method i use... is to draw proportional..when
drawing a face i would draw one eye than draw the other eye proportional to the first ..than the nose etc... also i draw one line instead of a series of little lines
after awhile your eye becames trained to judge and draw
see . betty edwards books on drawing on the right side of the brain...i call her books the
the same for me, im born with the artist gene, its pretty natural for me to draw something , and i draw the same exact way than f3xman2284, first one eye, and then make everything else in proportion to it....
so thats what surprise me of you, that you actually seem to see the shadows and light rather than the forms, you start from anywhere, a chin, the ear, or even the outline of the head...
I'm also borrn with one! Although I'm not really paying much attention to it this past few years. But now I'm glad that I made a comebock to my true interest and love! :3
What I understand is that the brain interprets an image right away like a bunch of lines and value shapes but if you analize the images with a much deeper perception they turn out to be a bunch of contrast and shadows that make you percive "lines" and "proportion" the proportion comes along with the distance your percive those shapes and lines.
I'm definitely going to have to try this. I just told my art professor that my biggest weakness is seeing 3D form or what you describe as "value shapes." Thanks for such great tutorials!!
He printed that image by rendering clouds with default colors in photoshop :P Nice tutorial... I have been watching from the first vid and it really seemed to work
i don't know about the others but my shading is really good but the things that i need to learn are placing/ position of the parts and how to put what i see onto the paper such as the eyes or the mouth
me too, i draw really well, but its always the proportion of eyes that brings down the whole sketch, like i can never get the left eye looking like the right one, everything else is top nosh for the level i want to be at for my art exam but until i sort out the eyes ill never be able to produce a sketch to this quility !! ahhhh, its driving me mad.
A good tip, (If your working from a photograph) Is to turn the image your working from and working on upside down. This will help you concentrate your positioning without being distracted by where your brain 'thinks' eyes belong etc.
Oops did it again deleted a post trying to reply. To the person who said graphite works well for developing value and shading skills...but prefers black and white charcoal on mid tone paper. I agree with you it is much quicker to be able to draw on with black and white on a grey paper. Graphite is probably the slowest way to draw values but it is the easiest to learn and control.
oh...lol well i know how to draw a lil bit..im not a master like u.i. i dunno how to shade...and like in ur vids u said usually ppl dont sketch they try to get it exact..like they erase and draw, and go back and erase till its perfect...thats what i do..if u want u can click my name and find the vid of some of my drawings lol. but anyways. im gonna continue to watch ur vids =]
Thank you for all this videos! I wish someone would make quitar lessons videos and other instruments as well. I don't really like schetching and drawing and stuff but I like to watch your videos.
