  • Old good memories!!

  • favourite. game. ever.

  • Looks like men in black.. :)

  • this song is amazing

  • Mr. X and Shiva pressed the dislike button

  • The moment when the ambient synth goes off on the last stage was one of the most badass moments ever next the exiting of the subway and beating the shit out of Sodom in Final Fight

  • The Guile theme does not go with this

  • That brings back some old deep memories accompanied by feelings, I never want to forget. Thank you

  • nice video here wow cool indeed

  • If I could direct a movie I would have this song for sure in it

  • i feel this, this is music.

  • Amazing intro. Really amazing. Moreover, what a good game!

  • fuckin amazing theme song fuckin bumpin

  • Four young friends, Rage burning inside them, make a stand for Friendship and Peace.

One of the Greatest Games I ever played :)

  • The game that taught us about true heroism and that turkeys will save you

  • @shrapnelle And that you can fight off a group of attackers by spinning on ur back wearing roller blades

  • @shrapnelle very true (not sure about the turkey tho lol), but I remember my bro and I loved this game, of course along with Double Dragon and Final Fight. I remember walking home from school with him, we saw these boys a bit older bothering this girl, and we basically beat them up and walked her home. Our mom was very proud of us, and her parents thanked us the next day. lol I think kids today need games like this :)

  • @shrapnelle hahahah got that right :)

  • Sweet game.

  • SEGA GENESIS ERA FTW! 4EVA DA BEST OF DA BEST!

  • love it brings me back!

  • Sends eerie chills down my spine. Play THIS in the slums.

  • There was rare good soundtracks on the Megadrive. But where there was one, she was so beautiful...

  • I love this theme ❤ so many memories

  • Hard to believe music sounding as good as this is done on a 16 bit system... Great music, great game!

  • my best friend just told me my sega and nintedo and super nintedo are in a box at his house..left it there a few years ago when i was moving n forgot about it....im goin to get them today and rock this game and shadow dancer n golden axe 2 all friggin night

  • i miss my sega genesis. i want to play this so bad right now.

  • Best video game soundtrack ever.

  • I love this music!

  • yea this is the best song although it sounds like ben around the world... but still the best theme song to a game.. and the 4 of them are ready to kill for peace.. kinda funny right?

  • good ol times.my cousin and i were so addicted to this game.

  • this will always remind me of a time when life was so innocent and the harsh reality of a cruel world only existed in video games. today i live through a life like the streets of rage!

  • @cracitopen word

  • @cracitopen Uhmmmm where the hell were YOU living?????????? life was NOT so innocent back then. People were as crazy then as they are now.

  • @lacessamino I think I get his/her initial message, but I agree with you as well. Alot of people tend not to pay attention to all the bad things when they're children, and then its like the other way around when they are older, which is probably while people always think things are better during their time or generation. The 90s had its crap too while there are some great things about today that wasn't around in the 90s. It's like selective memory or something.

  • @SKRIBBLE4ME I did a whole bunch of times, once at a party too, i threw it on man. Killer track.

  • revenge of shinobi has grat tracks 2

  • 1:17 i want to get that sample!!!!

hands down best soundtrack of all time!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1:17 i want to get that sample!!!!

  • I'm 28 but I remember renting this at blockbuster when I was 9. This game changed the way I looked at games. It changed the way I perceived sounds and music in games. This game just transcends even today...

  • THIS SHIT IS FIREEEEEEEEEEE

  • AWESOME GAME AWESOME MUSIC BETTER THEN ALOT OF THIS NEW GEN STUFF. I EVEN GOT THS ON MY PS3 LOVE IT!!!

  • Just finished a metal cover of this song. With lots of new melodies: /watch?v=cj4_ArAsOhs

  • this tune is my life

  • best intro music ever :)

  • You can hear "Sadness" by Enigma if you listen closely.

  • @staticshock1013 That's how I got here... Sounded to similar

  • this is what you hear in stage 8 as well

  • Who ever hit the dislike button 4 this game and the "real game music" it came with, should stop jerkin his little immature hairless dick, and get castrated.

  • Nothing comes close to the day and age of this game, the garbage nowadays could not hold its nuts with a steel tractor. For all you real and old school gamers,You know what this is about, every time I play this, it takes me back to a dif. world and a better more hardcore place.. Thank G-D psn finally added something good to their network, after all the garbage they have been putting up.. Peace To All The Real Gamers Out There! Enjoy! There Will Never Be Another SOR2...

  • try joggin thru the city lisenting to this at about 5:00 a.m....its so perfect

  • Man... Mr. X. Alright, that dude, can blow me, with assistance from his "Molecule" homeboys. Not only that, but I'd stick that pixilated deglorified Thompson down his throat and make him beg for mercy while listening to Enigma - Sadness. *Cough* And claim my name was Axel.

  • Ahem, nostalgia included.

  • You now realize this song samples from:

    Enigma - Sadness

  • i love this music

  • GREATEST GAME EVER!

  • Blaze's box art outfit is so terrible.

  • This game marked my life so much!

  • Mr.X is what the devil looks like over the cities of the world.

  • SEGA DOES WHAT NINTENDON'T

  • 3 weeks after the battle

the leader of of a terrorist organazation had been shot and killed by three seals

peace had once again return to the usa

however evil has once again cast its veil over the states

osama bin laden the terrorist leader believed to be destroyed by the three seal had come back stronger than ever

seeking revenge bin laden kidnapps one of the seals brother

the leader teams up with a wrestler and his kid brother

rage inside them make a stand

    to destory evil once again

  • @cb19882000

    Cool story bro

  • Sounds exactly like Enigma - Sadeness)

  • @Revan175757 That's what I thought!

  • @Revan175757 I think the intro for the SOR series was based off of it. Not terribly inappropriate for the dystopian setting of the game when you realize that the Lyrics of Sadeness were about Marquis de Sade.

  • this goldeneye 64 and zelda o.o.t were the games i played the most

  • Glad to see Playstation Network bring some of these games back to life in the Sega Ultimate Collection. A nice break from today's wild and crazy world of first-person shooters, RPG's, and survival horrors. This was one of my favorite games to play on Sega Game Gear, which I still have and it still works fine. Ahhhhh nostalgia

  • I used to play this game with my sister and my dad all the time. I forgot who that guy in the purple was who was holding his hands out. He looks familiar though

  • nyc bx^^^ i was like 2 wen dis game came out n i still fuck wit it. classic n da beats was fire i wanna freestyle off dis beat

  • nyc bx^^^ i was like 2 wen dis game came out n i still fuck wit it. classic

  • the guy who disliked this had a Nintendo

  • Ghostface needs to rap on this beat.

  • @TheJoeyNitro Nah, maybe he could try and be original for once. ;)

  • @Trinidadian125 Ghostface is the Greatest rapper of all time.

  • @TheJoeyNitro Even better than Nas and Tupac? I doubt it.

  • @Trinidadian125 Nas is a whiner, Pac was vastly overrated, imo. I've never heard anyone flow like Ghostface, nobody has made my eyes open more than Ghost. But, this is just me.

  • Having emerged from the worst of darkness 'for so long', as you prepare to do business and make friends, you'll find, almost no one's a winner. This is a terrible problem for many, including the innocent, who are 'discretely' wiped out...by this 'clever system' into the most pain (that shows)

  • After growing up through "The Golden Age" of Sega up to PS3 now, I think I'm qualified to say this was The Greatest Game of All Time!

  • I'd still prefer the 1st one, it's scary how I'm still attached to that game!

  • hell yeah

    @elquicko

  • @elquicko yep!

  • @elquicko the original streets of rage is the best period its always the original in movies music vidgames then peaple try to copy.

  • @Kjazz13 I'd say godfather 2 was better then the first, the same with T2 over the orginal evil arnold. *shrug* everyone is intitled to each own opinion.

  • @elquicko wow dude same here!

  • @elquicko were you a nineties kid? safe to assume anyone from late 80s period to early 90s experienced the best ages of gaming there ever will, you can tell that the future of gaming is bleak, between sony and xbox constantly fighting over who can develop the next piece of tech faster its obvious the future generations wont witness masterpieces like these.

  • @elquicko best soundtrack too.

  • @elquicko

    >Implying PS3 is the only next gen console........

    PS3 HAS NO GAMMMMMMMMMMMES

  • I remember this game when it came out back in the glory days of the Sega Genesis console. This music fits NYC perfectly in that era where I was in public school and well city life was city life.

  • Im destroyed by nostalgia daily....

  • @Lefty2muzzlez I agree with you!

  • why have they not made a remake of this game for the next generation console?!?!?

  • The best game soundtrack ever!

  • @marcosilhaoliveira and it's just 16-bit!

  • Streets of Rage 2 was great, but it was the easiest out of the 3. I think Streets of Rage 3 was the hardest.

  • @RockLee843 It was the hardest out of the three; but by doing so they lost the overall pacing was not the same. Even on easy it was hard for new comers to do anything in the game. Not that it's bad; just kinda like a dulled down version of Double Dragon 3; well maybe not.

  • One year after the battle...

The city that had been plagued with crime and violence was safe and peaceful.

However, evil has once again cast its shadow over the city.

Mr. X, the syndicate boss believed destroyed by the 3 young vigiliantes, has come back to life stronger than ever.

Four young friends, rage burning inside them, make a stand for friendship and peace...

  • Yuzo Koshiro is the MAN! I can go on record and say that I remember thinking that music for this game was just awesome when I played it as a little kid. Brings me back to my childhood.

  • my cousin and i used to play the shit outta this game!!! the dude below me was right, suddenly i feel nostalgic! thanks for bringing me back there for a moment.

  • Its a damned shame that they dont make them like this anymore. And by that I mean not being DUMBED-DOWN. lol

  • the 1 person that disliked this can't handle the mean streets of rage.

  • great theme music, it's sounds like emgima - sadness.

  • love it !

  • Like have any of you guys played Street Wise Final fight? Or Beat Down. Its a 3d 3rd person walk around fighting game. Now if they could do this with street figher characters and make it online. Damn where you could fight against other clans and steal their points/ money damn that'd be sick.

  • i remember the two twin women bosses used to kick my ass, thats when i used to have to bring in the big wrestler and drop kick them ho's

  • el mejor juego de la historia

  • RE-BOOT!!!

  • the greatest beat 'em up ever! in my top 5 games of all time. the mega drive rocked. Maniac difficulty with 9 lives cheat. brilliant

  • that pic of mr x used to scare me when i was little. i used to get nightmares

  • @SeriosG78 haha he was one scary guy.

  • @nitemass he wasn't scary at all. he just had a scary face. shoot a 6 your old could own him no problem but that face is just scary beyond all reason.

  • @SeriosG78 yeah he was kind of a sad final boss. if anything shiva shouldve been final boss lol.

  • :-)

  • Enigma- Sadeness

  • this song is piiiiiiimp

  • Goosebumps when Mr. X comes!

  • It sounds like the bad ending in SOR1

  • easily some of the best intro music in gaming history. Its on my ipod :D

  • i dont know why they dont have many beat em up games these days :( seems only sword slashing instead of ass kicking...god reality in games these days are killing the entertainment factor...to be honest.GAMES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FANTASIES!!NOT REALITY !!!!!!

  • This game was the 1st videogame I ever beat! I still love SOR2. It had some pretty righteous tunes, bosses n levels. My favorite was the beach level.

  • Wow, this brings back memories of me and Big Ben Jr whuppin ass on the Genesis, I use to love this song lol!

  • @agirlyman

check out my channel. I'm taking old gaming tunes and re-mixing them with real instruments, high quality effects & samples to really pump these babies up! Right now there are 3 tracks there, and more on the way. Spread the word :) I'm spreadin' the music around YT.

  • I WANT TO CRY

  • @youtoubieur me 2 lol

  • I'm building a time machine, gonna go back to the 90's... I'm short one flux capacitor

  • The music cracks on this game! One of my all time favorites on Genesis along with Dragon The Bruce Lee Story and Holyfield Boxing!

  • <3 the 90's and this game.

  • Played this awesome game with a blind friend of mine some years ago... gonna play it again soon. One of the best co-op games in history. We need more of these!

  • I still have the game on my Megadrive/Genesis and I love it. It's one of the best, if not the best beat em up game you can get. It was unique, the soundtrack, the graphics, you could play it in singleplayer, cooperative, player vs. player....awesome!

I really don't know how often I have played this game when I was "young", but this game was epic! Imo games for the Megadrive were far more advanced and somewhat mature than on the SNES. I have a PSP 3k as well, but I miss my GameGear =/.

  • @t3chn0m0 well said me 2 bro i feel u...

  • i looked for this because i just found my copy, still in perfect condition, bootin up ma sega now!

  • oh my god. the memories. thanks. this shit never gets old.

  • Love the piano bit starting at 1:36, superb

  • GRAB DA PAW!!! I mean... grand upper!

  • either grand upcut, or bare knuckle cant remember, that move was unstoppable, that and the kick where you hold punch for 2 seconds

  • @tsunami2011 hell yea love that kick...

  • @elquicko lol

  • This sounds so early 90s

  • This track is priceless

  • dis shit goes hard

  • Drugs, gangs, violence, vice, addiction. This song says it all about the dark side of life in the big cities (New York, LA, London, Liverpool) and of human nature.

A masterpiece still as relevant 20 years on....

  • I'm not positive but I think I used to play this game a long time ago with my sisters. I remember a fighting game that had police cars or something in it.

  • @Mango38 that would be streets of rage 1... the special attack would call a police car with a missile launcher equipped driver :D

  • Comment removed

  • This is the theme-song to my LIFE.

  • this is my favorite game intro theme of all time. i'm in the studio now trying to recreate it with newer sounds. but nothing will beat the classic 16-bit version.

  • Now this is a good opening theme.

  • very similar to the tune Enigma - Sadness from the late 80s early 90s. best sound track on the MD

  • check out yuzoboy, hes done a remix which includes both tracks!!

    well spotted btw

    dj rogue

  • I feel nostalgia listening to this...I was maybe 10 or so when I first played this on some completetion disk or something on the Dreamcast...I forgot the name of the game, but I never forgot the soundtrack.

Then I watched some Screwattack list of Top Twenty Genesis games ever, and this game was #2. I felt while I was watching it "I know that game!" So I found it again and I've been playing it again. I missed a lot of great games of the 80s and 90s. Glad I didn't miss this one.

  • @Kindacute13 omg same here...

  • Damn, we need a good SoR remake, man! A very good one, for sure!

SoR soundtrack is awesome. The best ever.

  • LMAO yes thats exactly it, i couldn't stop laughing when i heard it again after so many years

  • sounds like that other song from the 90s also. the one they use to play for french models & shit. it had a girl whispering shit in another language. i know someone knows what im talking about there

  • Probably "Enigma- Sadeness"

Is that the one your talking about?

  • this is a sick song

  • ah man brings back such good happy memories:)

its the only game my mum liked and we played it constantly

  • muito fodaaaaaaaaaaaaaa xD great song =D

  • You can keep your Final Fantasy bullshit, here's a REAL game theme song.

  • nostalgia is a powerfull emotion why cant i be young again

  • Yup, Im only 23 so I was the perfect age for this game....damn shame we get old man :(

  • Same age as you man. I was about to turn 7 when I got this game. It's still my favorite game to this day. We just have to cherish the memories.

  • @daveeol Yes it is!!

  • @daveeol given the chance would you really want to be ?

  • @daveeol I know the feeling. If you miss Streets of Rage 2 listen to this song The Only One by The Black Keys...

It totally sounds like the theme music at parts, though it is certainly original. I know nostalgia can be triggered by strange things, and since I still have and play this game, the song reminded me of it right away.

  • hehe...i was almost in tears after listening to this...one of the best games i have ever played...

  • keep on movin, don't stop no

  • ha man love this game yea not gnna lie my sister and I had some free time and we beat this game on maniac the other day im tellin ya Max does work if u know how to use him right...
