Personal experience: I went to DMV to renew my driver license, my birth certificate was torn, although they accepted it I was advised that it would not be acceptable as proof on my next renewal visit-to drive!

with all due respect, i find it very insulting that you believe that anyone who is apposed to the single payer plan is a racist. i could care less what color the president is, but i do care what dirrection he is taking the country. i was apposed to much of what bush did, but i also feel strongly on much of what obama is doing. on another note, everyone has the right to protest. it needs to be kept peaceful though. they are trying to control the people by making their voice sound irrational

i have to say i could not disagree with more. i am a democrat, and a nurse. i work with people in the medicaid system. i know we have gov. controlled health care already. it also know that doctors that will work with medicaid patients already have to see a large volume of patients to be cost effective, it is a poorly run system in many ways, it also already provides health care to the poor. we do need health care reform, but what we do not need to do is give the gov. any more power.

Oh lordy. Socialise healthcare does not equal free health care. What it does mean is that the cost is spread across society. It makes sense really because, short of a major, major catastrophe (nuclear war?) the ratio of able bodied to ill is going to be very low. We don't have the fear of being bankrupted by emergency surgery, nor the fear of being denied for something like open heart surgery. Although the waiting list for a viable heart might be long. People tend not to want to die.
Again fudging it without telling us your earnings, nor how much is taken out of your wages/from your employer.
But seeming the average US wage is $39,032, we can assume that on average health care costs either the individual, or the business around 12.5%. That's including the 80,000,000 that are either under insured, or not insured.
In effect you pay more for a service that doesn't even cover 26% of the population.

It was however founded on the notion of equality for all, which is one of the basic tenets of what would later be called Socialism. The American Revolution was not against Big Government, it was directed toward UNFAIR government and the British Monarchy + toward a tax system which favored the ruling elites back in England.

True but as individuals we can control the government. We just need virtuous honest people voted in. I dont care Democrat or republican. I just want limited government and freedom. They should support the rule of law and property rights. They should provide a safety net for those that need it without creating a dependant subclass.
But a health system doesn't create a dependent subclass. You could argue a welfare sate does, but that is a separate beast entirely. I also agree that government should more or less keep out of our lives, but I wouldn't give up socialised medicine. We have welfare families here. these are families that generation after generation go to the government for a hand out because they never learned how to fend for themselves. If you have insurance you get the care you need. Also you can pick the best coverage from many options. Single payer if you want to pay to get treatment you cant. It would be illegal. Right, I live in the UK and to be honest I've never heard of anyone having to queue for emergency surgery. None emergency surgery there can be waiting lists for, but to be honest we accept it because generally there's people far worse of then us getting seen too. If people want to be seen to quicker then there's the option of going private. Yes, we have a private system as well as the NHS. I've heard horror stories from both sides of the story, but the NHS has saved my life...twice.
If you are being honest then you can look at the number of men that die from Prostate cancer in the UK. Because they cant get surgery they need when they need it. Also the quality of treatment isnt even close. Im sure youre a nice person but in talking with many people in the UK and Canada even they admit they would prefer treatment in the US. When Obama is done our healthcare will be the same. I think they actually want people to die.
Versus all the people who died from preventable diseases, cancers and heart disease in the US because they aren't covered? Even if you take cases such as prostate cancer then your still looking at a life expectancy of 79 (Men) and 81 (women) in the UK, which is above the US average.
As for Prostrate, the current national average is a 70% survival rate, although a large reason would be due to the fact that men in the UK aren't known for volunteering for prostrate examinations.
So a later diagnosis would explain part of the survival rate being lower in UK males, and this is a kind of tetchy subject seeming my god parent was diagnosed a few years ago with terminal prostate cancer.
But to be honest I've never had to complain about the treatment I've had, beyond hospitals being the single most boring place in the world. Most people I know wouldn't swap the NHS for a private health system, which most people here wouldn't be able to afford.

We all want to change things for the better but why run headlong into communism. We need virtuous people in Washington that actually care about Americans. Our founders cared more than any group since. The problem is we have made America complicated based on special interests. Look at Fannie and Freddie as a classic example.
The NHS runs at 8.4% of GDP, as opposed to 15.3% in the US. France (best healthcare in the world according to the WHO) spends 11.1% GDP on socialised medicine. So your spending twice the amount, and still failing to cover a fair number of your population. How on earth is that a good health care system? Socialised health care does not mean communism, that's 50 years of brainwashing by big business talking there. Canada, UK, France, Australia, Israel...they're all capitalist nations.
Medicare is bankrupt. We go deeper in debt trying to fund this program. Now we want expand it to everyone and make it the only choice. When the money runs out (We cant borrow from China) then this program will fail. The government will have to ration care. The Gov is good at losing wasting and stealing our money because it is not theirs. Im afraid people like you will not see the inherent risk in a program like this until it is too late. We are on the verge of seeing something awful at one of these meetings and it will be used to demonize anyone who dares question the current administration. But this doesn't look like it.The thing I kept hearing is that even though its a bad deal, we should go along with it, and the government would fix it later. I have called my Congressional representatives time and time again since the crisis began, and have been politely dismissed and ignored, and I am sick of it and I am not alone.
I do not advocate any sort of violence, it is not the answer, yet the gov't continues wars, and has active military on our own soil, for the express purpose of civil unrest.

I just want the proof that others before have had to provide, what is wrong with that, why all the secrecy? Even McCain was (seemingly) transparent about his birth and records. That does not make me a racist.
Personal experience: I went to DMV to renew my driver license, my birth certificate was torn, although they accepted it I was advised that it would not be acceptable as proof on my next renewal visit-to drive!

Apparently Blue Cross brought the word 'Care', and they're only allowing it to be used in conjunction with private health insurance. A spokesman for the company is quoted as saying "We don't believe that people should be allowed to care for each other, when private business has been shown to care 24% better", although he declined to comment about the millions no longer eligible for care, or to use it in their day to day language.

our system does NOT...i repeat NOT work. It gives GOVT. and Big PHARMA POWER, and really does NOT get to the CORE of human HEALTH.
Actually, the system destroyed my health. The brain washed doctors fed me so full of anti-biotics when I was a child, it destroyed my digestion...leading to numerous problems.

But the difference between how people behaved when the Republicans were in was different. Albeit minus the egging of Bush when his limo drove into the White House, I can't remember a single moment a single protest was half as scary as it's currently getting.
There's definitely a marked attitude difference between these two eras, and Bush pulled off far worse schemes then Obama could even dream of. So why now? I'd argue that part of it is the right wing media stirring up trouble.

i have to say i could not disagree with more. i am a democrat, and a nurse. i work with people in the medicaid system. i know we have gov. controlled health care already. it also know that doctors that will work with medicaid patients already have to see a large volume of patients to be cost effective, it is a poorly run system in many ways, it also already provides health care to the poor. we do need health care reform, but what we do not need to do is give the gov. any more power.

Oh lordy. Socialise healthcare does not equal free health care. What it does mean is that the cost is spread across society. It makes sense really because, short of a major, major catastrophe (nuclear war?) the ratio of able bodied to ill is going to be very low. We don't have the fear of being bankrupted by emergency surgery, nor the fear of being denied for something like open heart surgery. Although the waiting list for a viable heart might be long. People tend not to want to die.

But seeming the average US wage is $39,032, we can assume that on average health care costs either the individual, or the business around 12.5%. That's including the 80,000,000 that are either under insured, or not insured.
In effect you pay more for a service that doesn't even cover 26% of the population.

It was however founded on the notion of equality for all, which is one of the basic tenets of what would later be called Socialism. The American Revolution was not against Big Government, it was directed toward UNFAIR government and the British Monarchy + toward a tax system which favored the ruling elites back in England.

I also agree that government should more or less keep out of our lives, but I wouldn't give up socialised medicine. Even if I became rich enough to afford private health care I'd still pay my National Insurance. Philosophically I believe health care is a right, and not a privilege.

If you have insurance you get the care you need. Also you can pick the best coverage from many options. Single payer if you want to pay to get treatment you cant. It would be illegal. You would have to queue up like everyone else and die waiting. There are many examples of this in the UK and Canada. You dont have to go far to find the truth. Are you a socialist? Be honest. Right, I live in the UK and to be honest I've never heard of anyone having to queue for emergency surgery. None emergency surgery there can be waiting lists for, but to be honest we accept it because generally there's people far worse of then us getting seen too. If people want to be seen to quicker then there's the option of going private. Yes, we have a private system as well as the NHS. I've heard horror stories from both sides of the story, but the NHS has saved my life...twice.

If you are being honest then you can look at the number of men that die from Prostate cancer in the UK. Because they cant get surgery they need when they need it. Also the quality of treatment isnt even close. Im sure youre a nice person but in talking with many people in the UK and Canada even they admit they would prefer treatment in the US. When Obama is done our healthcare will be the same. I think they actually want people to die.

Versus all the people who died from preventable diseases, cancers and heart disease in the US because they aren't covered? Even if you take cases such as prostate cancer then your still looking at a life expectancy of 79 (Men) and 81 (women) in the UK, which is above the US average.
As for Prostrate, the current national average is a 70% survival rate, although a large reason would be due to the fact that men in the UK aren't known for volunteering for prostrate examinations.

So a later diagnosis would explain part of the survival rate being lower in UK males, and this is a kind of tetchy subject seeming my god parent was diagnosed a few years ago with terminal prostate cancer.
But to be honest I've never had to complain about the treatment I've had, beyond hospitals being the single most boring place in the world. Most people I know wouldn't swap the NHS for a private health system, which most people here wouldn't be able to afford.

We all want to change things for the better but why run headlong into communism. We need virtuous people in Washington that actually care about Americans. Our founders cared more than any group since. The problem is we have made America complicated based on special interests. Corporations can have my healthcare as long as the competition is real so they are working to keep my business. Corporations cannot be corrupt without corrupt politicians. Look at Fannie and Freddie as a classic example.

The NHS runs at 8.4% of GDP, as opposed to 15.3% in the US. France (best healthcare in the world according to the WHO) spends 11.1% GDP on socialised medicine. So your spending twice the amount, and still failing to cover a fair number of your population. How on earth is that a good health care system? Socialised health care does not mean communism, that's 50 years of brainwashing by big business talking there. Canada, UK, France, Australia, Israel...they're all capitalist nations.

Medicare is bankrupt. We go deeper in debt trying to fund this program. Now we want expand it to everyone and make it the only choice. When the money runs out (We cant borrow from China) then this program will fail. The government will have to ration care. The Gov is good at losing wasting and stealing our money because it is not theirs. Im afraid people like you will not see the inherent risk in a program like this until it is too late. If you have grandkids you should reconsider for them.

I think that if the birthers could ever prove it , then that would be a good thing. Because then this whole system of the corporate media covering up and picking our candidates would be totaly exposed . You say you dont like the way Obamas running things so why protect him anyway.Why protect the system that put him there. The exact same system that will give us Romney Palin next time around

We are on the verge of seeing something awful at one of these meetings and it will be used to demonize anyone who dares question the current administration. Someone, somewhere is going to be stupid enough to actually bring a weapon to one of these meetings and try something that I fear will stifle even further what freedom of speech we still have. There are ways to show concern and even anger without acting like a barbarian. Losing control will only serve to hurt everyone else who has a voice.

Please don't tell me that the US would be the only western nation to have blood spilt over the concept of single payer option. That would just be plain embarrassing, and borderline moronic. It's not even a true nationalised health system.
Talking of which I have never understood what the fear is of nationalised healthcare. I really don't. Almost every western nation has it, and most of those are above the US in the WHO index on healthcare...

We are afraid of rationing and the halt of advances in treatment. No new cures for diseases. Taxes will be insane and we can kiss our economy goodbye. We will be no better than France, UK, Etc. Mediocrity will have one and everyone will suffer at the hands of it.

Let me check the WHO chart...erm...France is first? So really you should be aiming to be better then France. Even as a Brit I would say that we need could learn a lesson from our froggy neighbours, and if you know anything about the British and the French, it's a painful thing to admit. Answer my question as to how much it costs you per month for health insurance and we can work out which is cheaper...
As for advancements, you guys are not the be all and end all of scientific research.

I am not a Democrat or a Republican, neither left or right, and am mixed race... Both parties are totally corrupted and controlled by the banking elite. I'm sorry, would this be happening to a white president? I very much doubt it. The amount of casual racism that's been thrown at Obama is quite astounding. Let's be honest, a bunch of hicks have finally woken up to the fact that the White percentage of the US is slowly decreasing, and they don't like it. No one has a problem with right-wingers marching in protest of healthcare plans. That's their right. And no one minds their participation in these forums. But town halls were never designed to be vehicles for protest. They have always been about enabling real democratic discourse in a civil setting. To Z200a: Sanity + reality do not mix with the people commenting at Ella and you. Scary people indeed. I e-mailed a bunch of checkable facts to these people and not one responded. I have left comments on birther and eugenics vid telling them where in the bill they get this garbage. No response. I left comments saying where all the birth/eugenics facts can be checked (fact check), and my comments get removed.

There is a strain of conservatism in America that will stop at nothing to take power back from the Democrats. They will start with violent protests and disruption of civic democracy. They will escalate to blowing up federal buildings and assassinating our leaders. Whatever it takes.

That number was the total cost of Obama's campaign legal staff, and paid for all the legal operations conduction in connection with his campaign. In reality, Obama has ignored the ridiculous lawsuits, 100% of which have been laughed out of court.

The Kenyan Birth Certificate produced by Orly Taitz has already been exposed as a fake. The hoaxster who manufacturered it has come out with proof he faked it. It was faked from the real birth certificate of an Australian, David Bamford, who had uploaded his BC to a genealogy web site earlier this year. Google for David Bamford for all the evidence.
