When I was a kid I hated him for screweing everything up for the Robinsons ( thats why he was on the show as the villain) but later realized he was probably the best actor on the show.
@nenzi671 I felt that way too about him.I would get upset.Still I would run home from school, hoping maybe they would one day make it home. I had a Geography teacher at Givins senior high in Toronto, Mr. Welaousky (?), who reminded me of him.At that time, I still was watching the reruns, so you can imagine that I never took him seriously.Later on, I did do very well in Geography. As time went by, I grew to have fond memories of him, just like Dr. Smith...I remember him often : )TheLisbonGirl
also he was in one this guy made a bet with another that he would not be able to be quiet for a year so the guy takes the bet and wins but the guy who losr the bet dident have the money to pay then you see where the guy had cut his vocal cords jh was a friend of the first guy
to jimmysherrif ,there was one twylight zone where he was in this guys dream standing at the front of an airplane saying room for one more but the person would never get on and in the same dream and elevator would go to the basement of a hospital the door opens and there is jh saying room for one more it was creepy
The late great Mr Harris was BORN to play the most entertaining of all TV sniveling cowards, "Dr Smith". Personally, I think his character was an undercover proctologist whose secret mission was to find out if there were rings around Uranus.
No. Mr. Harris was from New York City. He was a true "deeze" and "doze" man who spoke in true New York rhythms.
Then he began acting and studied voice training extensively. He admitted in the 1990s that his vocal training had taken him in the opposite direction. He sounded like he came from Detroit. He spoke English in very pleasant rhythms.
@ThePanegyriccc dunno mate, but Penny was born in England, then she moved to the US. I wasnt even aware that the Doc. Was Dead. R.I.P. Does Not Compute!!
Maravilha! Em Perdidos no Espaço TUDO deu certo, inclusive um vilão cômico, dando a nós quarentões hoje, uma idéia na época de que tudo era muiito melhor! Thanks

Smith always messed things up and sold them out to the aliens. In real life they would have killed him. :)

I miss him. Looks like a wonderful human being.
But we'll always have episodes of LIS--but he's not a wonderful human being there! ha, ha!

I do believe Jonathon Harris appeared in a couple of Rod Serling Twilight Zone episodes. Can't remember which ones though...

Many of today's so-called tv-series would love to have such a great in their cast.
