  • This video was very helpful. I have everything put back together except I cannot get the ribbon cable reconnected to the hard drive. Any suggestions for putting the cable back in? Thanks.

  • @MRAngel805 Yes, you would have to check the physical dimensions of the the 30 GB hard Dr, if they are the same or relatively then yes, if its larger then no, if its smaller then yes but you may need some kind of cushioning to fill the gap or the empty space, that's something you'll have to figure out. Nothing I just said was beyond what you already know, I'm not saying this is a stupid question but use your own reasoning and you would have arrived at the same answer as i did.

  • You do it with Zune HD?

  • Hello i have a 30gb zune that i had to replace the hard drive and do a complete reset on and when it goes to install the new firmware it says it cannot because there is not enough space. error code C00D124F It is a 30gb 1 gen zune i checked it and it came up as having only 1gb and yes it is a 30gb hard drive and empty any help please

  • @dseguin3 The same exact thing happened with my 120gb. REplacing the hdd caused it to show that error. Putting back in the original didn't fix it either.

  • @dseguin3 Did you figure out what happened or a solution?

  • @bahzut No I have not

  • how do you reinstall the hard drive cable

  • 4:06 very easy showing where the ribbon cable is attached but now show how to do it cuz is noooootttt easy.

  • can u use the 30gb hard drive an put it into a smaller 80gb case ?

  • anybody had upgrade to a 120gb hard drive??/

    will the zune recognize it??

  • You really had no idea what you were doing, did you? After you pop open the case, you remove TWO screws. Detach battery. Flip hard drive housing. Then there's the hard drive packaging. THAT'S IT. You don't have to disassemble the entire device to replace the hard drive. Common sense. As for destroying a ribbon cable before, are you just that clumsy/careless?

  • is it possiable to use cf cards?

  • can u tell me the sit where u got the hard drive? plz and thank you

  • the hdd looks about the same size as a ps3 hdd, are they about the same?

  • I think the PS3 uses a 2.5 inch drive.

  • Cool video. I probably won't buy a Zune or ipod HD-based player because I don't trust hard drives in a portable player... I'm more into flash-based. But if I do get one of these at a discount (ebay, whatever), it's nice to know that I can upgrade. What's the largest jump in size you've made? Would a 160 GB work in that same unit?

  • ok now how do you fix the head phone jack cause when i put back together i have to push to the post on the head phone to 1 side so how do i fix it ms is no help they say to bad buy a new 1 i have all my stuff in here but if i cant get this fixed i guess ill go back to ipod this never happed with them

  • So it's the Zune's fault you fucked up the jack? Rip your Ipod apart and I bet you'll fuck it up too, you jackass.

  • "I would not have this with ipod cause ms sucks?"

Again, you don't make any sense. You wouldn't have this problem with an ipod because ms sucks doesn't make sense. That's like me saying "My Nissan runs great because Kia sucks." Try thinking out your fucked-up comments before making them. You fucked up the jack on your ms when taking it apart. Be more careful next time.

  • Also, why don't you try and throw in a comma or period now and then? At least you won't SEEM as retarded as you are.

  • Ebay, and yes its a new harddrive so the information u once had is going to be contained on that old harddrive.

  • awesome video i'll probably do this when i have some cash.

  • can i take a ipod hardrive and put in a zune

  • yep, the video ipods harddrive!

  • do u kno y i play songs then it freezes y is that also when im skimming through the menu

  • thats not good, sounds like a harddrive problem maybe, couldnt really tell you.

  • o ok yea cuz i was thnkin about changin hardrives with ipodd but ddint kno if it would fit i hope it will fix the problem though

  • well a battery has a set life span and eventually y become exhausted with use and need replacing, but sure a brand new battery could last almost 24 hours of continuous use so long as you could have music play continuously without the backlight lit up.

  • could u make a vid showing us how t take it apart plz

  • does your battery last for a day if you use it overtime?

  • Thanks a million, you just saved me over $100

  • Okay, first off wanted to say great video and thanks.

One problem though, I got everything to work perfectly. I switched a harddrive from one of my hold broken zunes into my newer one which in the new one the harddrive broke(so I just switched them). But randomly once i got everything going the battery stoped working. I have 2 batteries too. I think it has something to do with the battery connector itself. When I plug it in to my comp it just stays at the Zune load screen without a load bar.

  • can u put a new battery in it mate? b/c mine doesnt last long at all...and do u think microsoft would do that?

  • ya of course you can, and yes microsoft will do it but for some ridiculous fee, you should try and find someone who will do it for cheaper.

  • hey its me again plzzzzzz help me ty

  • i have extra motherboard for 50$ thats including shipping, if you find yourself in need.

  • do you know how to fix the left button and the back button? My zune's buttons doesn't work, but just those two

  • i need a mother board....wondering if you have an extra one... im willing to give you a psp or just buy it off you ..thanks

  • whel a lot of times people cant get the usb cable to plug in and end up just jamming it into the housing causing either the port to break bend or fold backward into the zune, you might try just taking off the cover and seeing if you could just bend it back into the right place. However if its actually broken then youll have to buy a whole new motherboard, becasue the part you are reffering to is part of it and isnt sold seperately.
