I think you are right that Jackson hated/feared his dad to a real extreme. It is really believable that he dreaded looking more like his father as he got older. One thing his family all seem to agree one (rare!) is that Michael really hated his nose, partly because his family always made fun of his nose.

That said, I think there is something to running away from his blackness that is a seperate issue from his dad. I don't buy the vetilgo theory. His kids are white, that's not an accident!

If you looked at abc yesterday. A doctor said he actually did have vitiligo. He wasn't trying to be white. He lost his skin color. He had blotches all over his body. And also, his children are born to white mothers, obviously they'll have lighter skin tones. But they're not much lighter than for instance LaToya or Janet. And blue eyes is a recessive gene, which MJ must have had (his father has blue eyes) and passed on. It's entirely common and biologically makes total sense.

@KajaRG Jackson has all of the pigmentation in his skin removed in order for his skin tone to be one complete color while dealing with vitiligo. He was tired of putting make up on parts of his skin to hide it. It was a great decision for instead of hiding it with make up and bandages for his career. However, vitiligo does not make your skin get brighter after pigmentation has already been removed. Jackson's skin seemed to get brighter and brighter as the years went by.
