@lockheed08 I have no idea why a rational or logical human being that knows about the dangers of motorcycles would get one, then decide to overtake while turning on a blind curve, are people really that dumb or just plain suicidal.
Even in a car that would be retarded, so now we are on two wheels and think we are invincible, I don't get it. So many people get new bikes and know nothing about being proficient in terms of control and turning a bike, and go out and get owned:Darwinism.
@sandy123noodle the thought of the speed doubling for an impact of two vehicles is a popular misconception. The kinetic energy is dispersed between the two vehicles colliding. The impact is around the same as what the odometer reads. There are some examples where two cars crash into one another at 50mph and are compared to one crashing into a wall. The energy is transferred through each vehicle. I believe you can find this by searching "Does two cars crashing at 50 mph each = a 100 mph"
@Scarfoot100 The momentum involved in 2 vehicles colliding at 80mph is the same as 1 vehicle hitting a wall at 160mph. But in terms of damage to each vehicle it would seem you are correct, as the force is shared equally between the 2 objects. It would seem that momentum is the deciding factor in car crashes, more so than the kinetic energy.
cops are tricking people into racing and giving tickets!!! copy and paste this to get the word out! all you have to do is google illshift and you'll see what I'm talking about.
In their full scale tests, the Mythbusters crashed two cars into a wall at 50 and 100 mph as references. They then had two cars going at 50 mph collide into each other. After surveying the results, it was clear that the two cars suffered damage identical to the car that crashed into the wall at 50 mph.
The Mythbusters explained that was possible through Newton’s third law of motion. Although the total force was doubled by having two cars, that force also had to be divided between both cars during the crash.
I had more enjoyment reading the crap below than watching vid, i cant actually believe someone said a bike going 80 and a bike coming at 40 head on crash is = to a 40mph impact!!!! lmfao! maybe if it was going the same direction twat! If what he said was true then two bikes both of which doing 80 would have a negative effect!! hahaha, i dont thing im going to sleep tonight from the laughter stitch!!!!
@your5starvids 80+80 MPH equals 80 in this case because the 2 forces equal out each other. I thought the same thing too till mythbusters proved it wrong. They had a 2 cars hit at 50mph and a car hit a wall at 50 mph. same damage. the car going 100 mph had SIGNIFICANTLY more damage...
@your5starvids go to discovery channels web site, and go to the mythbusters page. Or you can google it. there is a forumn, the original video, and the new episode, as well as adam and jami talking about the math. If you want I can PM the links to you :)
@your5starvids ya its nuts! When i saw the first episode of it from mythbusters I agreed with them. till I saw the update. really weird stuff goin on there. lol
i just don't see why this guys do this shit on public roads, it just doesn't make sense to me that you are risking your own fucked up life by also risking somebody else's who is not even interested in your activities. are you so poor that you can't afford the track ? or u are just and uneducated bastard who doesn't even realize that what he is doing is risking other people's life without their written consent.
@sponge920 not true, you would still be going from 80 to 0 if you hit head on, if you hit a wall you would be going 160 to 0, therefore the G force created on the body would be significantly more.
@01parrott incorrect. a wall has no forward momentum therefore making it just a basic barrier to transfer all the momentum the bike is carrying into the wall but the two bikes add together because of their forward momentum would make the crash much worse.
@internet1mythbusters Stop trolling for nerds... NEWTONS THIRD LAW proves that you are wrong because there is no difference between two bikes hitting each other at 80mph, or one bike hitting a wall at 80 mph. They still apply equal and opposite force on each other for a net force of zero. If one bike is going 80 mph and the other was going 40 mph, then it would equate hitting a wall (immovable object) at 40mph. NOT 120mph. You have brought shame upon the name of Mythbusters btw Xp
@internet1mythbusters Dude, how old are you? Unless you tutor in calculus, and physics at the university level, then shut the fuck up. Also, your grammar really doesn't convince me of your intelligence. ur is not a word. The mythbusters DID THIS EXACT MYTH last season and they PROVED what I'm trying to explain to you. Look up the mythbusters head on collision episode.
@oceansurfers thats not true...from the individuals point of view it doesnt matter whether the force is supplied by a brick wall's structural integrity or a bike travelling at 80km/h. The same force is exerted either way and the rider will slow from 80km/h to 0km/h very quickly.
If a bike collided head on with a truck that'd be a different matter, the truck wouldnt feel much but from the bikes point of view it'd be a 160km/h crash
@oceansurfers You need to familiarize yourself with Newton's 3rd law of motion. Although the total force was doubled by having two bikes, that force also had to be divided between both bikes during the crash.

160 is the combined speed of the vehicles. Hitting a bike travelling at 80 when you are traveling at 80 also, is like hitting a wall at 160.

since when Mythbusters became a reference for science?
Mythbusters is at best a 2-joker-jews TV show.
look how they botched the Bedini and the HHO subjects.
I wouldn't trust them even for high science projects like "how far fly the shit chunks after they hit the fan?"...

24(5%40*-) + 8/40{22-36/78} now subtract that from 1(3~)/55{65%} = 80mph over a radius of absolutely nothing remotely interesting...
Which concludes that becuase i type things on youtube.. I must know what im talking about..
