  • No wonder the Rob Inglis version is 5 hours longer than the other one, with all that music...

  • i don't think you understand how much you just saved my english grade. thank you!

  • BEFOR ANY OF YOU START LISTENING TO THIS HE HASNT UPLOADED THE ENTIRE THING

  • Yes it's the right version!

  • not abridged, awesome

  • Thank you for taking the time and sharing this with us. Hours of enjoyment while I clean, etc. Very pleasant voice. :) Songs

  • Thank you so much for uploading this! Any chance you can put the rest up?

  • why oh why do all the Tolkien audiobooks have such dreadul music?

  • its a typical modern day london accent (bit posh)

  • @alexpf8355

Is it a typical modern day London accent because of a huge number of immigrants??? =D

I noticed that there's sometimes not a typical sound 'R" for the english language in his speech, for it is trilled.

Can you explain this matter? I have had some doubts about some ordinariness of this manner of speech for a considerable while...((

  • @Dr666Love I think the narrator has a standard english accent mixed with a mild welsh accent.

  • @Delfie7

First of all, thank you for the answer!

Concerning the welsh accent, it seems I've lost a bet...))

However, what can you tell about the rolling "r" sound? It is not a widespread kind among native speakers.

You are british, do you personally pronounce the "r" sound the same way?

  • what kinda accent is it? It's surely british, I meant which part of the uk is it?

  • I can totally imagine gandalf reading this from bilbo's notes.

  • Worst musical intro ever =_=

  • @HERMIONExCANTxDRAW i dunno, check out the bbc version here on youtube. that one's just mental

  • Thank you so much for posting this!!!

  • is this the unabridged version?

  • Perfect audio book. . Thanks for sharing

  • I really appreciate you putting these up, but would it be possible for you to put up a torrent of this audio book, because I have downloaded one but I don't like the readers voice I much prefer this one. If you made this into a torrent we could download the entire thing and listen to it without clicking on videos.

Thanks, even if you don't torrent it I really appreciate you uploading it to youtube.

  • @TokerMate they have this version on Piratebay (saw it on google, i don't know how to torrent or I wouldnt be here, lol)

  • @japaneseboyhunter Thanks mate, do you have a link or anything like that, there could be a few different versions and I don't want to get the wrong one. If you want I can send you a PM on how to use torrents properly, it is very simple once you get into it. "For legal and personal use of course ;)"

  • @TokerMate aahh, it's okay, my bestie knows how xD but this is the one I saw: "JRR Tolkien\\\'s The Hobbit Audiobook with Rob Inglis" on piratebay. but it won't let me put the link here...but he broke it into like a billion little pieces (219) so idk if it's the one you'd wanna go with. just search for the hobbit rob inglis :)

  • @japaneseboyhunter Ah thanks a lot I will have a look.

  • thank you so much for putting these up! i bought these for my cassette player years ago but they all got ruined by my cousin who pulled out the tape. Ive never heard it since until now. THANK YOU!

  • There and back again by Bilbo Baggins

  • When i first listened to the lord of the rings audiobooks by him i thought his voice dull and monotonous.

However now i listen and i find no one could have done it better than him, his voice brings every single character alive.

I almost dont want to read the books simply so i can listen to him tell me the story instead.

  • Rob Inglis is the best audio book man he is the best!!!!! put up more of him plz! :D

  • perfect best read i've read. Reads the book word perfect and with no issing words. Has great voice for all characters maybe 1 or 2 are very annoying but dealable. and well i like the songs now i used to think they were terrrible but they actually tell you alot about the history and culture. going to restart my LOTR rob inglis now hope don't fall of couse like i did last time

  • His reading are spellbinding, I can't stop even tho I already read it... For this is pure magic.

  • Awesome...thank you!!!

  • I LOVE YOU!!! My grandparents bought me the tapes of this wen i was little and ive been trying to find it ever sense

  • guys if u like this and lord of the rings ull luv the SILMARILLION, which is all on youtube as well. in away its alot better than them both, hard to get into but once u start 2 get ur head round all the names its astounding!!!! and martin shaw who reads it is better than inglis although he is a dude.

  • He reads it very well :)

I have absolutely loved Stephen Fry reading the Harry Potter books as well, not sure which I prefer.

  • i think Rob Inglis did a much better job with The Hobbit than L.O.T.R.

  • Rob Inglis voices much have influence some of the characters from the L.O.T.R. films such as Gandalf & Gollum, even the Goblins & Orcs sound like him in the films. I love the part when Bilbo meets Gollum for the first time in the cave and when the ring first comes into the story I listened to that part in complete darkness, very moving. And Bilbo's escape from the cave and his getting past the dwarf guard was quite funny when you read/listening on.

  • i love the book, i have read it 3 itmes in a row so far.. this is awesome

  • @Pjordan87 and @jayellucaz: you can buy an audiobook of the Lord of the Rings, read by Rob Inglis, on iTunes, for a lot less than £100.

  • how can you hate it? i would have loved to have read that in 8th grade

  • It's just that it's not any good to me

  • @karrotluv if you say you like twilight better than the hobbit i'm gonna die laughing

  • @DeathlyDavid oh god no i hate twilight but i really liked night by elie wiesel

  • @karrotluv night was good. But i guess tolkien's songs on every other page isn't for everyone

  • @karrotluv

    That book broke my heart.

  • is this the unabridged version?

  • Yes it is unabridged. I want lord of the rings!!!!!! But that version, read by the same guy is 45 hours long! Its £100 where I life

  • does anyone know where to download this free

    please reply .

  • use realplayer

  • OMG Thanks i have to read 3 books for high school and this was one of them and last one i need but i have so much i did't want to read no more and i been looking for the audiobook for it but all of them were abriged thanks man!

  • omg me too!

  • This is awesome, thanks!

  • I wish I could just pay HIM without paying anyone in the industry. I wonder how much he gets paid per sale. I'd gladly make a generous donation to him.

  • yay!

  • I have both this (The Hobbit) and The Lord of the Rings read by Rob Inglis and I must say, Inglis is by far my favourite audiobook reader. He creates moods and atmospheres throughout the texts so well.

  • @LawngCat I agreed, I listened to most of the Hobbit in the dark and had visions of characters from the film and almost wanted to turn the lights on lol, hats off to Mr. Rob Inglis.

  • to learn english (especially pronunciation-wise), i listen to this while reading the books.

  • @twipley I agree, and just by listening you get better at english, especially if you're not a born english speaker =)

  • i have a book report on this so i think its better than reading it

  • I far prefer this to The Lord Of The Rings, i have that also but its not as good as The Hobbit.

  • Ive got this its awesome, Rob Inglis does a brilliant job.

  • cool =D
