  • was that paul Jonson getting shot???

  • Yes, that was Paul. All 3 Johnson brothers appear and get shot in this movie.

  • Genius work, you have an eye for making visuals and a storyline that captivate the viewer. I love that Massive Attack song used in the film, great choice of music. You are a natural. 5 stars!

  • Thanks Charlotte! I guess you need strong visuals when your story isn't up to snuff. ;) I'd been wanting to use that Massive Attack song on something for quite some time before making this vid. I understand it's the theme to House now; my friends like to joke that the show creators ripped me off. :) Once again, thank you so much!

  • 5 stars!

  • Thanks!

  • :")

  • After viewing "Stolen", I had to check out your other work. I also loved this great, raw short! Thank You for sharing your art and talents Carlos! You are a natural. Like Tarantino, you have what can never be taught in film school.

  • Very nice of you to say that, mike!

  • this is soo professional. Great dirrecting. Are you a film student or an actor?

  • pretty sick vid.

  • Thanks for watching!

  • kick ass vid

  • Thanks!

  • hmmm... I always wondered what it would have been like if I would have kept attempting to do action movies with tight shots just to get around limited set and resource availability. I guess now I know. I liked a lot of the choreographed stuff, but I do think the gun scenes could have benefitted from more long shots. I suppose though that the youtube quality degredation probably exaggerates this problem though.

  • "I guess now I know." You say that like it's a bad thing. :p

Anyway, while lowered image quality is partly to blame, I also think a big part was simply that if I widened out the shot on the gun scenes, it would've been way too obvious that each opposite angle was filmed from a completely different area. For one shootout, I filmed one actor at a local park while the other actor did his half from the backyard of his house! "Movie magic!", I said -- before taking another drink of Jack Daniel's...

  • It is bad to have to work in such a way (which is why I didn't keep doing it when I wanted to, because I can't stand for those kinds of production problems), but if that's how you had to work to get it done for class, that's great. It was good considering. The film was really off and on for me. Some parts really flowed, others suffered. As a whole it was good.

  • It just kills me as a filmmaker whenever I see a peer have to go through such needless difficulty to do it. One of the reasons I left film school.

  • Excellent!! You put so much work into that. Very cool. Loved the main character, the cast and the editing (wow). Really, awesome job!

  • Thank you so much! Yes, I did put a lot of work into it -- I just wish I agreed with you on the quality of the piece. I don't know, I'm just now getting around to liking this one...but for a while the finished product broke my heart -- which positive comments like yours help put it back together! :)

  • Very good!

  • Thanks for watching!

  • That was great man, very well made, funny, and interesting... Keep it up!!

  • Much appreciated! I'm *trying* to keep it up, it's just that scheduling these things can be a real bummer. It's worth it in the end when you guys watch and comment on them though!

  • Yeah, its alot of work for sure, alot of work...

  • Good stuff man!

  • Thank you so much!

  • finally got to watch it all the way through and that was great -- l especially liked the flying kick to the sword. I'm not sure I understood what was going on but there was a lot to like there - good work! :)

  • Thanks for watching! Sorry for the delayed response.

My own friends and family say the same thing about this movie and Stolen -- that they like what they see, even if they couldn't understand it! :)

  • oh, and I voted for it on that competition thing, hope you did ok in it :)

  • lol

    XD

  • Thanks for watching!

  • it was aweosome XD

  • awww.. my kuya so pogi! good job!!

  • Heh heh, that's Justin for ya! :)

  • Thanks for watching!

  • Robert R = the man

  • Wow, that is very, very, good, even if you were not all working together at the same time of shooting. I'm thinking of making a short movie, just for fun (until I go to Uni to do Film Production), and was just wondering, about the background music. Although you used a lot of songs by artists (e.g. Massive Attack - who are Brilliant), have you ever made your own music for a film, and how can this be done (e.g. Software that does it for you, or do you have to compose it yourself)?

  • No, I've never composed my own music, but the thought *has* crossed my mind -- even though I can't play or read a single note -- I've certainly made many a tune up in my head while editing these things. I'm not so well-read on the subject, but I remember Robert Rodriguez demonstrating software that would help you compose and even write out the sheet music for you (in the Once Upon A Time In Mexico DVD, region 1).

  • sweet vid man sweet vid - im trying to get into the whole vid thing

  • Trying? Looks to me like you've been doing a damn good job so far!

  • very cool. Liked it a lot.

  • Thanks man. Honestly, it means a lot when you guys say you liked it. Took me some time to get around to being able to stomach watching this. I still have major issues with it...arrrgh....but it makes it a lot easier when I read these comments. Thank you!

  • awesome! great job as always

  • Aw, thank you. Great comment as always!

  • really good work!!!;D

  • Thanks! I'm very happy you liked it!

  • very cool, reminded me of "el mariachi". good work!

  • It should since I outright stole from it! Also used the Mariachi technique of using the same frame of a gun firing over and over again to give a rapid fire effect. Also used the same Sony RM-440 3/4-inch edit machine as well. Thanks for watching.

  • that was awsome very professional...

  • I'm really glad you dug it...and I certainly don't mind being called professional!

  • Very action packed. Sometimes to POV gets confusing. You might consider a few over the shoulder to set the direction and then come in tight on the detail shot. BTW mine view stopped at 9:44. Has that happened to others? Dan

  • Had no choice but to shoot it the way I did because of scheduling (had short time to make it for school). I shot all the actors on separate days and locations and edited together to hopefully give the effect of being in the same place. On the rare occasion that I was able to get them in the same place and day, I took full advantage, but the key word there is 'rare'. I think you're the only one whose view stopped where it did. Try again (and again and again) :)

  • Great job on this one.

  • Thank you so much. As far as I'm concerned, you certanly are no bastard.

  • awesome. full of action.

  • You've got some good work here, very impressive

  • Thanks for watching!

  • keep it coming. great job!

  • Hope you like the next one!

  • wow pretty good!!

  • I did my best and I all see are flaws, but I'm happy that you guys really enjoyed it! Thank you!

  • Nice man!

  • nice work dude... we should talk...

  • Hey, sorry for not getting back for so long. I'm a jerk. I really appreciate your taking the time to watch this and comment (and enjoying it as well!). Too bad you live so far. You must understand that I'm 20 minutes from L.A. which is 20 minutes too long, as far as I'm concerned. ;) But who knows, maybe one day, if either of us is ever in each other's neck of the woods, maybe we *could* talk. Hope you like the next one!

  • That was a great video, keep at it, I look forward to seeing more.

  • Thanks man. I'll keep you posted on any new work!

  • Awesome, where'd you guys get the background music?

  • 1. Massive Attack -- Teardrop

    2. Sabres of Paradise -- Theme

    3. Marilyn Manson -- Seizure of Power

    4. Craig Armstrong -- Kiss Of The Dragon SDTK

    5. Harry Gregson-Williams -- Spy Game SDTK

    6. N.E.R.D. -- Lapdance

Message me if you need specifics.

  • yeah whats the theme playing when the two main characters meet up, and the one is on the phone w/ Mr. Clean. Where the Sniper gets killed.?

  • good work..

  • I appreciate your taking the time to watch and comment. I really have no excuse for not responding sooner. But hopefully you'll forgive the late response and stay tuned for the next video. Thanks!

  • Very good, but there are some things you can still do to make it better. If you did this for a class, you may know some of what I am going to list.

1st the audio needs some work. I know the compression distorted the audio, but you can eliminate the un-needed cold cuts in the audio. Also, you need to merge the music and voice overs better, insted of what sounds like a cut in the channel of the audio. Other than that, its a good piece and I wish we lived closer so that I could work with you.

  • nice movie really good work

  • That shit was great. What class did you have to make it for. What program did you use to edit it.

  • I made it for a television broadcasting class I took at a local junior college (where I was taking general ed.) and edited on 3/4-inch decks with Sony RM-440 control (everyone else was crowding the non-linears).

    Thanks for the kind words.

  • no problem, thats why we are here, to watch everyones creations and show some love lol. I so want to take that class now. I go to a tech college that doesn't have anything like that there. sucks 4 me

  • Holy crap, you're no n00b.
