Hello, Great video :) I'm a big fan of yours, i have a question here, if you use a bigger paper size, will it be possible to have a complete spheere that can be closed as a ball ?
This one was nice and easy! I attempted to do an Escher steps tessellation I found on Flickr, but was unsuccessful. I could see some similarities to the clover folding and hydrangea, since it was inspired by Fujimoto. I'm horrible at completing ones with only a crease pattern and no real guide, so I'm gonna try and keep at it. I plan on looking up the model/technique that influenced it, and that way I'll have a better reference.
Hey Miss Adams! I made both tesselations: the one with a bunch of smaller waterbombs and the one with tnot many bigger waterbombs. Thank you so much for this tutorial! Also, which one do you prefer: the one with bigger waterbombs or the one with smaller waterbombs?
You should get paid for this or something. Your a very good teacher and i was able to catch on very quickly. Thank you so much! your videos are amazing! i didn't have any of that.. whatever paper so i used thick construction paper and it didn't work so great lol... BUT i was still able to do it! :D
@luyla1 What's the point of any hobby? For me it's a way of relaxing and a way of living my creativity. It's also a passion I share with quite a few of my friends, so origami has a strong social component for me.
@luyla1 they're also fun gifts to give since there cheap and fun, for example a rose for valentine or anyting else you can think off. I once made a star shaped box for my girlfriend with a neclace and she still has it (the box and neclace)
He is 9yrs old and we are looking for Origami school or teacher.
We live around NY area and we are wondering wether you live around here or you know any teacher who can do private origami tutoring for my son. He really wants to get a lesson from you. Thank you!
@tygerparkgolf I fear I live in Germany, so not really close to NY. ;) However, you can get in touch with OrigamiUSA to find out who'd be willing to teach. Also, I think there are regular meetings, which your son may want to join.
@43bountyhunts I have almost never seen a man with hands like that :P. Better than the time someone thought I was a girl in a video because of man boobs.
hey ive just responded with the video i made after learning how to make the waterbomb base. im not sure if it still counts as a waterbomb if its hexagons. but thanks all the same, your tutorial helped alot
@kapitansensible Sorry, I cannot watch the video. It says: "This video contains content from Sony Music Entertainment. It is not available in your country."
@STINKFISHcompany The higher divisions are a bit harder. But if you've successfully done a 16 by 16 version, I believe you should be ok. The folding is the same (just a bit more of it), collapsing may be a bit trickier to start with because you need to get more creases pointing all in the right direction.
@KluetMusik Findest Du deutsche Untertitel hilfreich? Ich könnte schon versuchen zu mehr meiner Videos Untertitel zu machen. Immerhin versuche ich sie für jedes neue Video zu machen. Leider ist das aber eine etwas zeitintensive Arbeit. :(
Another great video. I was able to fold along and successfully made the model. Unfortunately, at 16:12, the video stalled so I don't know what came after - I tried several times and couldn't get the last minute.
tessellation is: using every available space, like the game tetris. . i'm not a college boy, just a furniture mover but i had to read a manual on loading trucks properly in order to fit more furniture because long distance drivers get paid by weight, anyway the book explained tesselation and had paintings by the artist, M.C. Escher, its also called tiling.
Wow! I was surprised at how easy that was! I thought it would be really hard. It was at first, but after a while I got the pattern and sped through it. The trouble spot for me was the collapsing. For example, if I had a valley fold it would pop up into a mountain fold. After I got over that I could collapse it quite well. I think I made a mistake when instead of using solid colors I used a square paper with a diamond tessellation. It distracted me from the squares and the quadrants.
@Taypion I think Eric Gjerde called this model "water bomb", because each of the squares in the top look a bit like the origami model called "water bomb".
What exactly is a tessellation? I mean I've never even heard of that? Is it for decoration? Is it like a base for somethin? It looks great don't get me wrong.. I just have no idea what it is.
@Dillon594209 It's a pattern that you can repeat over and over. As to what you make of it, whatever you like. You may want to fold a tessellation resembling scales to then fold a fish or a dragon from the tessellated paper. Or you may just enjoy the tessellation itself. Personally, I like the process of folding tessellations, and I am fascinated by the patterns, and find them quite beautiful.
the only thing i hate about your vids are cause they take ages, for example you can say to fold 8 equals parts in the beginning and just skip to the next part, we aren't that dumb
Well, you can always skip over those parts. I've decided to do this, because on the videos where I say that and just skip over that part, I get lots of queries as to how to do it. So I agree that it is not necessary for everyone to see these steps, but a lot of people do want to see it. As it's easier to skip over a part than to make it appear magically if you need the extra detail, I've decided to add that detail. Hope this makes it more understandable.

I used a 19.5cm square for the red waterbomb. You can either cut paper to that size, or try to find sources that sell that size. Though it's not as common as 15cm (6in), it's still widely available in online stores.

I used a 19.5cm square for the red waterbomb. You can either cut paper to that size, or try to find sources that sell that size. Though it's not as common as 15cm (6in), it's still widely available in online stores.
