  • This video reminds me if the origami magic ball

  • Hello, Great video :) I'm a big fan of yours, i have a question here, if you use a bigger paper size, will it be possible to have a complete spheere that can be closed as a ball ?

Big Up Sara keep the ggod work ^^

  • how were u getting the dotted line right after u fold something?

  • BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!

  • great video - you are a good at giving instructions.

  • c est totalement incroyable ! merci beaucoup )))))

  • Luv it how magicaly ur helplines appear :D

  • What's so extraordinary about this model is its impossible to predict the emerging structure after pushing in the water-bomb basis ..

No surprise, that once again your instructions were accurate and easy to follow .. thanks!

  • Great tut! Possibly my new fav model!

  • is that some kind of special paper that makes dotts when u fold it?

  • i did the 8 by 8 and it wasnt bad so im currently making a 16 by 16, this should be fun!

  • This one was nice and easy! I attempted to do an Escher steps tessellation I found on Flickr, but was unsuccessful. I could see some similarities to the clover folding and hydrangea, since it was inspired by Fujimoto. I'm horrible at completing ones with only a crease pattern and no real guide, so I'm gonna try and keep at it. I plan on looking up the model/technique that influenced it, and that way I'll have a better reference.

  • Hey Miss Adams! I made both tesselations: the one with a bunch of smaller waterbombs and the one with tnot many bigger waterbombs. Thank you so much for this tutorial! Also, which one do you prefer: the one with bigger waterbombs or the one with smaller waterbombs?

  • who else finds the accent on "quarter" making it "qua'ter" rather cute?

  • if you wouldnt mind maybe you could make one with lines that are straight instead of dotted lines? its kind of confusing :)

  • is this possible to do with larger cardstock type paper, lets say 25"x25" ?

  • every hobby kills time

  • @luyla1 whats your hobby? oh playing with barbie dolls that kills time also

  • why is it called water bomb but it doesnt hold water anyway its so awesome..

  • Super schön kriegst ein Abo

Just amazing you get a sub

  • all they did was crimple a peice of paper and say its art.. imma take a shit and say its art and become famos for it

  • i dont know why the origami designers have rare names , thumps up if u think the same

  • thumbs up if u noticed se was a woman (and not by the name

  • Those lines magically appear

  • when its in a ball form can u throw it in water?

  • i wasted about 30m of my life for jack shit

  • @TheWarBullet origami is PATIENCE...you got nothing because you assumed that you could do it in under thirty minutes.. and then you gave up.

  • Why would someone dislike this?!! It's awsome!

  • can you show how to make a magic ball?

  • Is this modular? can you connect these to create a bigger modlue like in your picture? if so, please explain.

  • cant you do like a magic ball do a 10x20 sheet of paper and make it a complete ball?

  • You should get paid for this or something. Your a very good teacher and i was able to catch on very quickly. Thank you so much! your videos are amazing! i didn't have any of that.. whatever paper so i used thick construction paper and it didn't work so great lol... BUT i was still able to do it! :D

  • using 15cm by 15cm origami paper, can you connect the tesselations together on the edges in some way? Please answer, your videos are amazing btw.

  • sexy voice...

  • i like your accent.

  • the collapsing is like collapsing the magic ball....

  • Is this video cut at 16:13 for anyone else or just me? It is listed as 17:19, but no matter how much I refresh, it ends at 16:13 for me.

  • Same thing's happening to me.

  • you are the meaning of amaing

  • Can u fill it with water

  • @LACthree Well, it's not a closed form, so it won't hold water.

  • @AdamsSara but i dont know about that so i can hold water in it.

  • @AdamsSara what if you flip it over

  • AWSOME i made this and im only 11

  • you are cool

    (o;

    thanks

    sven

    Gutes Video, nett erklärt.

  • @Rashura12 ;) Ertappt!

  • @Rashura12 ich will dich ficken

  • @eliteswat oO

  • You sound a little stuckup... Just kidding, but seriously, LOOSIN' UP! please...

  • Is there any origami society in Serbia?

If you have no idea where that is just type it in google maps.

    Near Belgrade would be preferable.

    Please answer

  • @mobradovic00 Try searching the web (e.g. Google), that's what I'd have to do, too. ;)

  • @luyla1 What's the point of any hobby? For me it's a way of relaxing and a way of living my creativity. It's also a passion I share with quite a few of my friends, so origami has a strong social component for me.

  • @AdamsSara and it improve brain performance!

  • @AdamsSara you totally right! in class me and my friend doing origami all the time and the teachers yell at us but who cares is fun!!

  • @luyla1 you can make things to give as gifts, I made some lucky star jewelry. Folding a star is sooo adictive O.O

  • @luyla1 they're also fun gifts to give since there cheap and fun, for example a rose for valentine or anyting else you can think off. I once made a star shaped box for my girlfriend with a neclace and she still has it (the box and neclace)

  • @luyla1 In ancient times people would make stuff out of paper to entertain. Basicly origami is the ancient PLaystation or Xbox

  • @luyla1 why would u say that...DREAM CRUSHER

  • @luyla1 Why does anybody do any hobby? They don't do it because it's boring, they do it because it's fun. That the point.

  • @luyla1 Also, some origami is functional, like... umm... well BLAAAAA

  • Hello! Sara,

My son loves your video tutorials!

He is 9yrs old and we are looking for Origami school or teacher.

We live around NY area and we are wondering wether you live around here or you know any teacher who can do private origami tutoring for my son. He really wants to get a lesson from you. Thank you!

  • @tygerparkgolf I fear I live in Germany, so not really close to NY. ;) However, you can get in touch with OrigamiUSA to find out who'd be willing to teach. Also, I think there are regular meetings, which your son may want to join.

  • those r man hands

  • It's hard!!!

  • please reply ! Is Eric Gjerde norwegian (I am)

  • @origamimee98 Eric Gjerde is from the US.

  • Can I please get an answer on how the paper makes those lines?

  • @coltonandsydney123 By the power of my marker (and cutting out the sequences of the video when I actually use the marker to draw the lines).

  • But it doesnt hold water!

  • you have an amazing voice!! =) <3

  • Huh?

  • magic paper!!!

  • is that a water bomb ?! doesint lock like

  • THIS is a real waterbomb, not that triagular fold you call a ''waterbomb''

  • i made the tesselation with a 16:16 division yeah it was pretty hard but i make it thanx

  • I made one with a 16:16 division thx it was pretty hard it took me ove than 1 hour folding

  • I made one with a 16:16 division thx it was pretty hard it took me ove than 1 hour folding

  • Comment removed

  • how many divisions have the bigger one?

  • @MrEllinas21 It was folded on a 16 division grid.

  • i make mine first tessalation thx

  • wat happens if we divide by ratio of 16:16 or 32:32 ?

  • @mohitdandekar123 You can repeat the pattern more often. Also, the more often you repeat the pattern, the more the paper will probably "curl".

  • Is it possible to make a ball from the tessellation?

  • @AnotherVideoGamer Not as it is, but I guess you could add a locking mechanism. That's not a trivial task, though. :)

  • an esier way just crumble up the paper lol jk

  • i suck at origami need help

  • @theducky007 Actually, no voice over. :) I cut out the sequence where I draw in the lines. Also see my "Making of" video.

  • Magical lines d[-_-]b

  • "your mom is quite done" HAHA!

  • Adam, your finished product doesn't look like a water bomb.

  • u sound rlly gay!!

    getta deeper voice!!

  • @43bountyhunts Its a girl LOL!

  • @Tekxune

not my fault she got man hands!!

  • @43bountyhunts I have almost never seen a man with hands like that :P. Better than the time someone thought I was a girl in a video because of man boobs.

  • @43bountyhunts uhhm, no she doesn'ttt.

  • hey ive just responded with the video i made after learning how to make the waterbomb base. im not sure if it still counts as a waterbomb if its hexagons. but thanks all the same, your tutorial helped alot

  • @kapitansensible Sorry, I cannot watch the video. It says: "This video contains content from Sony Music Entertainment. It is not available in your country."

  • how is this a water bomb?

  • in the beggining the brown one.dude it doent look like paper!!!

  • I'm making a 64 by 64 squares tesselation, is that hard??

  • @STINKFISHcompany The higher divisions are a bit harder. But if you've successfully done a 16 by 16 version, I believe you should be ok. The folding is the same (just a bit more of it), collapsing may be a bit trickier to start with because you need to get more creases pointing all in the right direction.

  • I did it on the first try! It's true!!! YAY! ;D

    hihi

  • @KluetMusik Findest Du deutsche Untertitel hilfreich? :(

  • @AdamsSara me Dont speak spanish/french

  • are you german?

because you spelled "eric" very german

    i am from germany :D

  • @L000rdOfDarkness Yes, I am German.

  • @AdamsSara

    Wo genau kommen Sie/Du her?

    :)

  • @L000rdOfDarkness Ich wohne in München.

  • Another great video. I was able to fold along and successfully made the model. Unfortunately, at 16:12, the video stalled so I don't know what came after - I tried several times and couldn't get the last minute.

  • @quiltsewer I fear I can't influence that. :(

  • Waterbomb without Water :< ?

  • All that work, then its gone? Stupid...

  • tessellation is: using every available space, like the game tetris. . i'm not a college boy, just a furniture mover but i had to read a manual on loading trucks properly in order to fit more furniture because long distance drivers get paid by weight, anyway the book explained tesselation and had paintings by the artist, M.C. Escher, its also called tiling.

  • just wasted 17 minutes of my life. cheers

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzz.......

  • this is really cool.

  • uhm .. this isn't cool xD

  • omg man its the new revolution in dx 11........... soz gaming reference good bye

  • I managed to do it! I still can't believe it. Thanks for that great tutorial

  • very cool! one reason i love your videos is the way you show you creases its a very good idea to do it like that

  • very cool! one reason i love your videos is the way you show you creases its a very good idea to do it like that

  • have you designed any of your own models?

  • @yaaaweeeh I have designed a simple eagle, which I may demonstrate in a future video of mine.

  • Wow! I was surprised at how easy that was! I thought it would be really hard. It was at first, but after a while I got the pattern and sped through it. The trouble spot for me was the collapsing. For example, if I had a valley fold it would pop up into a mountain fold. After I got over that I could collapse it quite well. I think I made a mistake when instead of using solid colors I used a square paper with a diamond tessellation. It distracted me from the squares and the quadrants.

  • VERY NICE TUTORIAL!!, Well presented! :D

I used to hate showing people this one lol

We never used lines or fold markings.

It makes it way easier to see. Well done!

  • Can this "water bomb" become a 3D object (like the Magic Ball)

  • @tuzmor Why don't you try it? try doing 32x32 and putting it into a ball. It could become FAMOUS

  • Its a rubix cube!!!

  • Thanks to your nice teaching, I tried it and it wasn't hard at all. Thank you! :)

  • Brilliant work and explanation, I loved it, and will try as soon as I can!

  • now thats pretty kool

  • how is this a water bomb? (im not flaming im asking a genuine question)

  • @Taypion I think Eric Gjerde called this model "water bomb", because each of the squares in the top look a bit like the origami model called "water bomb".

  • @AdamsSara that doesnt answer my question lol :P

  • What exactly is a tessellation? I mean I've never even heard of that? Is it for decoration? Is it like a base for somethin? It looks great don't get me wrong.. I just have no idea what it is.

  • @Dillon594209 It's a pattern that you can repeat over and over. As to what you make of it, whatever you like. You may want to fold a tessellation resembling scales to then fold a fish or a dragon from the tessellated paper. Or you may just enjoy the tessellation itself. Personally, I like the process of folding tessellations, and I am fascinated by the patterns, and find them quite beautiful.

  • @thdrjsdnBRB

why so mean?? Sara is nice enough to make a video..... i skip over it and i think your smart enouh to do so too.

  • DEPRESSING VOICE, ANOYNE AGREES??

  • TOO MUCH SPARETIME :p

I DID NOT WATCH THE FULL VID SOO...

    COOL THOGH :d

  • after a few times of doing it, it doesnt take to long

  • awesome

  • you have a lovely voice - oh yeah, the origami is amazin also - I have never seen paper folding like this before (tessellation)

  • My math teacher loves these tesselations.

    since I take geometry

    :D

  • the only thing i hate about your vids are cause they take ages, for example you can say to fold 8 equals parts in the beginning and just skip to the next part, we aren't that dumb

  • Well, you can always skip over those parts. I've decided to do this, because on the videos where I say that and just skip over that part, I get lots of queries as to how to do it. So I agree that it is not necessary for everyone to see these steps, but a lot of people do want to see it. As it's easier to skip over a part than to make it appear magically if you need the extra detail, I've decided to add that detail. Hope this makes it more understandable.

  • yessss.

lol. and she talks a lot. XD

  • dsfcgbv x

  • ciao from napoli

i like a lot your video

  • how come lines dont appear on my paper when i fold it :D ha ha

  • =P hahahahaha nice comment

  • @bmxrocketman open your eyes, the back got as the lines

  • Thank you, very inspiring for architecture

  • I love this model now. it's pretty fun to make!

  • i dont like it, it doesnt explode when you touch it

  • ahh I'm too stupid to do it that way as you

  • what the F*** is this going to be????

  • yay, thanks for this great video, I love tesselations, they're easy to do and always fun to make ;D thanks for this video =D

  • bah, i wanted jack in the box to win =P

  • can you do it on any size of paper?

  • where can you get paper the size of the red waterbomb

  • I used a 19.5cm square for the red waterbomb. You can either cut paper to that size, or try to find sources that sell that size. Though it's not as common as 15cm (6in), it's still widely available in online stores.

  • just made one with a 32X32 grid. very fun.

  • exploded cheese!

  • I like this model and i fold it but I really want to win the box with surprise....thanks for makig all your videos..i like them..

  • OMG THANKS ADAMSSARA

  • What diffuculty is this in?
