Dairy cows are chained by their necks and kept indoors most of the day. Cow trainers hang above the cows to give them a shock when they arch their backs. This forces them to move back to drop urine and manure into a gutter. They are artificially inseminated each year and are milked on average 305 days per year. As with humans, a cow's pregnancy lasts nine months. Having to give birth every year is physically very demanding.

In the dairy industry, calves are removed from their mothers either right after birth or within 1-2 days). Female calves will be raised to become dairy cows and male calves will be raised and slaughtered for meat/veal industry.

After being removed from their mothers, newborn veal calves are loaded onto trucks and sold at auctions. If the fragile calves are unable to walk, they will be dragged by their legs or ears.

@MilkDocumentary As per my previous message, I called up Amazon and after speaking with the rep there, we concluded that my Mechanical Turk account (an amazon service) was causing the problem, so I asked that they delete the account and I was able to make a pledge :) I've been trying to promote your video to everyone I know and some have already made pledges. So, how come I was fine when I drank milk? :-S I went vegetarian for a while and vegan for a month - loved it - I've been one or the other on and off since (sometimes I have to so I can eat socially, and other times I just fancy some fish/yoghurt).

For sure I'll watch da doco.

But I think Aspartame, energy drinks and etc etc etc run a VERY immediate first for a disclosure video before milk, which has been drank for 1000s of years - FFS!

The unfortunate realization is that people KNOW that their milk contains puss in it, they KNOW that it costs the lives of billions of animals, they KNOW that it's been causing their kids ear infections and rashes and runny noses, but they will continue to drink it. Habits are hard to break, especially when the habit is killing you.
