Why aren't the stoplights mounted on the far side of the junction? If you're waiting at a red light, how do you know when it turns green if the lights are 5m directly above your head? In the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand the lights are also on the far side corners facing you so you can see the change to green.
@riolindasucks It is required in the Netherlands too, but apparently they didn't do it here. I noticed it too. The distance from the stop line to high mounted traffic lights must be at least 12 meters in NL, otherwise you can't see them.
