Absolutely Astounding. She is in complete touch with the lyrics. She believes it and conveys that feeling with every word. Too many artists, especially today, are only in touch with their voices. Too bad. They should take a lesson from this gal. This is how you sing.
I watched the interview with Debbie Reynolds on HBO, with her talking about herself and her daughter, and she referred to herself singing "Tammy," so I watched this to see what she was talking about. I was born in the 50s, but I don't remember seeing this. It is such a touching example of young love.
Lovely song, lovely lyrics and beautifully sung by an enchanting young lady. In fact, she's gorgeous. Memories are made of this. When I was a youth I saw her in a movie called Kiss Me in the Catskills and I knew instantly she would be a future star in a big way. Thank you Debbie.
crap dont you know how to edit using a computer my mams fav song, theres a beter quality version on face book only in 240p somebody post a hd version,i went to order the dvd and i was told it was deleted thats bollocks i think.
This song was in my Dad's record collection in the 50s and was also sung by a nurse to my husband as a child in hospital. Now my daughter & I both have it on our iPods, a great favourite.
below i read , by DANAFIN that debbie recorded TAMMY back in 1952?..or i don,t understand, maybe. cause i always think that TAMMY was written in 1957 for this film..carlos
I love Debbie. I remember my mother telling me (when we went to see HOW THE WEST WAS WON) that the young girl, in that picture, was TAMMY...and..I thought that TAMMY was her name!!.well, when I first saw this beautiful film,Tammy,I understud why my mother told me Debbie WAS Tammy. I become a fan of her ever since., For ME this is the best song EVER written for a film. And Debbie sang it with her heart. I make it listen to all my friends, and..they CRIED!!.well, THAT means something.!! Carlos
I remember when I heard this song and saw the movie as a child, it was so great to be an American then; what I wouldn't give to go back. I read the comments above, my daughter was almost named Tammy too, I got voted down on that but I still think it's the greatest name for a girl
I can't hear this song or watch this video without thinking of a pretty brunette news anchor from Dothan, AL named Tammy Watford whom I watch every evening on a local Asheville, NC, channel. I've never met this lady, but she has a delicate beauty similar to the young Reynolds and seems to share Miss Tyree's (and my own) love for nature.
Miss Reynolds' voice was hard to hear as E. B. White's Charlotte without wishing a sensitive, rustic beauty like Tammy had had Charlotte's sophistication.
Debbie Reynolds is AWESOME!!! And this is my FAVORITE movie!!! My aut showed it to me, because she used to watch it with my mom when they were like 4 and 7.
I watched this film as a child and I totally loved that song. I can't remember much else about the film except that song. Loved it so much that I named my second child Tammy. And used to sing her to sleep with that song. I've only ever saw that film the once,I've never been able to fild it since.
"Tammy" (in German: "Tammy, das Mädchen vom Hausboot" - retranslated: "Tammy, the girl from the houseboat") was the first TV-series I can remember - it must be broadcasted in Germany in the early 1960s.
I loved it and I still do, and i am not ashamed of having tears in my eyes just hearing Debbie singing this "very nice" song ...
I know you must miss your daddy as equally as I miss my mommy (1941-1999), just always remember the beautiful times you spent with him. God Bless you..(((((hugs))))
Thank you!! It is hard...Im still not over it.The bad thing is I lost me mom 2 months later.
My dad passed away dec 30th 2005 and my mom March 11,2006........so its been really hard =*( both were unexpectantly.I never got to say goodbye *cries*
I am truly sorry for your loss. To lose both parents suddenly. You and I are the same age too.I was born in 1972 also. :( I'll be thinking of you and praying for you, Tammy. God Bless, Jeanna

My Daddy (1944-1993) use to sing this to me all the time messing around too! I'm so glad someone else has those wonderful memories as well! I was only 13 when he passed away suddenly & I too never got a last cuddle or to tell him that I loved him dearly :-( *cries*
This fine "Clip" (an earlier-version), that Debbie Reynolds recorded, about same time that Debbie visited the "Wounded Troops" in 1952, during the Korean War...when we fist met, in Taegu!!! Mr. Dana R. Daffin 3-23-08
No-one yet posted! What a wonderful piece of nostalgia and what a gorgeous young lady she was in the fifties. I remember my mum playing this on the radio in the kitchen - it has good memories.
