Clarinets on intonation and low brass intonation right before air force. Hard song to get perfectly in tune though. Nice job trombones throughout the entite song
Very powerful video. Please be sure to check out the newly recorded patriotic song "Freedom 911" by new artist Joshua, feat. J-Kwon & Gino Green. You can check it out, right here, on The Benita Show. An awesome tribute to our Armed Forces and our Great Nation.
We play this every year for our highschool band concert. Our wind ensamble sounds this good (our highest level band) but our other two basically suck lol
On the contrary to what seirra54 said, I think you guys did very well, specially given the practice time you had. Most of the notes seirra54 thought were wrong were in fact right. And when seirra54 thought that the clarinets and trumpets weren't together, well, they weren't supposed to be. It was a call answer, except the trumpets had a slightly different rhythm. They main (and very apparent) problem was intonation. Definately needed a lot of fixing. Thats what led to the "wrong notes & pitches
0:09 - 0:14 Trumpet cracked, chord held by upper winds is pitchy possible wrong notes
0:56 - 0:59 Upper winds still cant figure out what pitch they want, overall getting better
1:11 - 1:21 Starts with issues in the clarinets and trumpets dont move together
The flutes were the primary problem pitch wise.
This was better than a majority of other ATSSB Region bands. I am sorry if I offended you, given a few more hours this would have been better. Sorry, I am kind of a band geek...
It doesn't bother me since you have legitimate points. I was just worried you were going to be one of those people with their pinky up as they sip their tea (and you aren't, which is good). It's true that we needed more practice - I think we only had about 10-16 hours worth of time to split between 4-5 pieces. But hey, what can you do? Flutes are not very agreeable, and well, shit happens. :)
@Seirra54 i under stand compleatly i notised that to but over all it sounded ok i mean the ppl are onley human i play trombone and trumpet and i can tell when parts dnt move like they should ive played this MANY times
@Seirra54 Thak you for your critique. All I know about it is that they played as we marched arounf the grinder and now when I hear it I become emotional! Pretty Stupid right? Well all that I can say is that I must have some kind of emotional tie to it.
Ive played a variation to this in band a few years back. I believe the order for the anthems were Coast Guard, Air Force, Navy, Army, then Marines... Even from where I was sitting, it was great.
Oh my goodness we're playing this in my high school band right now. I'm only a freshman, so this song is REALLY hard haha. I'm trying to practice and at least be able to play PART of the song, but at the tempo my band teacher is having us play it...it could take a while. Haha. But it's a beautiful song.
they sound good but i'm not so sure how i feel about the Marine Corps Hymn in this when the clarinets come in. as the daughter of a marine corp Colonel i know he would have prefered it muchhh more marcato
im playin dis in the HOP orchestra (Hour of Power Orchestra) as 2nd B flat Trumpet. this song is really fun and i have played this song on the cello also i sat principal cello
Oh man we are playing this along with " national emblem" in concert band and my god lord it is so much fun (: i love this song its 3 pages ( im B.C. Baritone/Euphonium) of pure fun (: i love playing it, what a delight!
It was a lot of fun, though I think Prisoner of the Ring is still my favourite. The Armed Forces Salute was definitely a close second though. Hope your performance goes well! : )
Haha, well if you were a T.C Euphonium you'd be just as cool as me! Nah, I'm kidding. I'm glad you're enjoying this piece too, I liked it a lot myself.
I absolutely love this song! I've played this song with the Catawissa military band since I was 13 and I'm 16 now. It is so nice when all the veterans stand up and are applauded!
Btw, the horns sound amazingg

First to fight for the right, and to build the nation's might!
And the Army goes rolling along...
Proud of all we have done, fighting 'til the battle's won!
And the Army goes rolling along...
Then it's hi hi hey, the Army's on its way!
Come on sing it loud and strong!
Cause whe'e we go, you will always know...
That the Army goes rolling along!
HOOAH!!!

In this piece by Bob Lowden, 3rd trombones have a mad awesome part at measure 141. I'm still working on getting it down before Veteran's Day, haha.
