Your method of record cleaning might be practical for a DJ in a booth. But in this way, all you're really doing is spreading debris around, and embedding it further into the grooves without extracting it. A wise investment for any record collector is the purchase of one of the many vacuum record cleaning machines available on the market today... the VPI 16.5 Record Cleaner is a reasonably cheap place to start, and a fantastic machine. Recently I picked up a Nitty Gritty 2.5 Fi-XP..a Godsend.
The way I clean records is by placing it on top of a fleece sweater on a table, using a pump spray such as Pfanstiehl record cleaner (they're great to use and inexpensive, probably cost $6-7 a bottle) and two record cleaning brushes, one to wet-clean the record and another to dry-clean it. Make sure you clean off the dirt and dust on the sweater before trying this.
hello i went to a record store and they had a set of 14 80's records and i have a record player so i bought them but they are really dirty and i really need to clean them but i tried to use a cleaner with a brush and ruined the label on 2 of my records so what is a cleaning machine or thing that is easy for non collectors to use!
It's possible to take them out of their sleeve without touching the seam. Just stick your hand under the record and put your fingers at the label like you do.
Also, you might want to store the inner sleeves with their open side up instead of sideways. This way the record will never fall out of it's sleeve accidentally ;)
The subtitles are cool. So maybe a deaf person can read what he's saying so he can clean his records before playing then. That's really good thinking. Hey Beethoven was deaf, right?
I don't know what you guys' problem is with this, yeah you're not supposed to scratch it obviously but this is really good simple explanations a lot of people can use
or you could put your finger thru the center hole , and clean it with the other hand
