  • I have been to different professionals and they all dont know what to do. My MRI/CT tests dont give a diagnosis of anything, I sometimes hold my right shoulder up like a string was pulling it up in the air and lean on to my left side.I might have an elusive first rib pulling on my blood vessels, nerves, etc but dont know what to do!! any suggestions?? I have been told I dont have thoracic outlet syndrome but then again, I dont know how to treat my neck problem. something (s) is out of place!HELP

  • I injured my neck-thoracic from trying to do pull-ups at the gym 4 yrs ago. When i first injured myself, I feel it happened exactly as you said! My arm sticked out for a month like what you showed and my spine torqued, pulling muscles and nerves affecting my entire muscles!!!! What is more ironic, is that i went to a straing counter strain dr today he I told him i feel an "elevated first rib" and neck muscles are are tight as well and thoracic, with rhomboid muscles always in pain ( more below)

  • Thank you for posting this! I wish I could just pop the rhomboid somehow, though.

  • Thanks. I'm on the computer a lot and have had some stinging pain on my right scapula, now I know it's because my right hand's on the mouse a lot which causes it to stretch.

  • great channel.... these videos are helping me understand my chronic upper back pain.

  • This seems to be one of the better YT vids w/active responses on the topic.

I'm thin, have pronounced shoulder blades, and accidentally banged one getting into a van (on the doorjam. I've had pain for a week, but don't know if I put it out of place, or I'm just dealing w/nerve & tendon pain.

I also have post-concussion headache, which adds to the pain. Thanks-

  • My pain is like right under the shoulder blade. It is a sharp pain in my back at times. I put a heating pad on it and that seems to be helping. I get up in the morning with bad pain and it takes a while for the pain to go away through the course of the day. If anyone could give me any other advice it would be great. I don't really want to see a doctor for this. Thanks

  • Thank you so much... I have that pain and whilst driving a Transit bus guess what... palms down on the steering wheel all day... gonna change that thanks to you! Just tried the tennis ball and it helped.

  • Do you know of any specific exercises I can do to help this. I'm trying to avoid doing physical therapy and doing workouts at home or at the gym. See how that goes first before I dish out big money to go - lack of insurance :(

I've had crazy pain for about 10 years now...would love to figure it out. Thanks!

  • @dillinjabreakz

Just my opinion, but if it's been ten years I reckon physiotherapy would be the best option!

There gonna be so much correction involved that I don't think you could do it alone... But I may be wrong.

  • MassageNerd: Thanks for posting this. For over a month now I've been experiencing the exact type of pain mention mentioned you mention here. At first I thought it was a pinched nerve in my back or even a herniated disc. The injury happened after doing weightlifting with a triceps bar. I have never sustained any injury during workouts before I was put on statin drugs by my doc. I'm wondering if the statins, which are known to cause muscle weakness, are causing me problems. What is your opinion?

  • great video- to add to it, gym rats make sure u dont only use the bench press, work the back and strengthen the rhomboids, trust me i ended up with impingement and a scapula way out of position due to compensation. P.s the physio hurts like hell to prevention not cure

  • Thanks so much. I think that explains the pain over my scapula. The spot you were touching is exactly where my pain is.

  • @fastfire26 Does that mean that me and you need to get surgery?

  • I have the same issue, but it's constant, it runs up my back, and down my right leg... Sometimes I can't feel my legs when I wake up. I've been to a chiroprocter but that was 6months ago, and the relief only lasted about a week. Infact I feel the sensation right now.

  • i dont have numbness in the blade, i have deep, dull pain, in that area, my posture is terrible, deformed chest, both shoulders are loose, neck and chest pain occur all the time, i went to a hospital in pittsburgh and they said i have no loose connective tissue disorder, so as of right now i have no diagnoses or treatment. i am 20 years old at 6'4 and i weigh 140 pounds. im pretty damn sure something is terribly wrong, i had a surgery on my right shoulder that failed...i am hopeless

  • @shinymcbubbles dude relax! Visit a REAL GOOD sports Physiotherapist/Doctor and plan out an exercise schedule to strengthen those tissue and surrounding muscle! Go for it now!! Acquire money-Save it-Go for it! By any means possible! Its ur life and its only once! Get good or die tryin!!!!!!!!

  • This is wrong you do not get numbness because of a tight muscle. Whoever wrote this listen to me you have whats called a suprascpular neuropathy. Although not common it does happen. Google the suprascapular nerve and tell me if that nerve pattern is where you are having these symptoms

  • basically this...it's an entrapment of the suprascapular nerve, but it CAN be caused by muscular tightness/imbalances, which can cause shoulder girdle problems, scapular problems, etc.

  • to wbutton:

Are you a doctor? are you the subject's doctor? I believe you could get in trouble by giving unlicensed diagnosis, especially if you don't know the person's WHOLE HEALTH HISTORY! and BTW, yes you can get numbness via tight muscles. I'm a Certified Neuromuscular Therapist and I work with this all the time! its part of Pfluger's Laws, a set of Neurological laws.

  • i have a serious trigger point in my right shoulder and i had a friend work on it but now it feels worse! is there any logical reason for that?

  • Can you show us the reflex point for the scapula? Gallstones can sometimes cause a referred pain in the region of the scapula, right?
