okay, I need help. my ipod touch 4g is really low, I tried this and it did not work, I could not find any needles that would fit into the speakers, and I did not want to break the speakers, my friends ipod 4g, both of them their ipod is so much louder than mine. I tried what you said, would it be that they have rubber ipod cases? as ive seen and heard, apparently it works like an amplifyer. so, I don't know what to do, any reccomendations?

I recon I got it wrong ?? It's been a week now; and my iphone is still at full volume+., (loud as anyone elses) but but but > I no-longer think they are speaker holes, they are for air-pressure-equalisation., unblocked the speaker is not restrained by air-pressure and has full voice (the sound comes out the front + back = everywhere., I've not tried it yet but a 1/64th drill just 1/8th into a few of the holes would be better and less dangerous to the internals of the iphone..

* EVEN BETTER*This works pretty well, but if you are willing to go the extra mile. You can make it even louder. I just searched for a video how to disassemble my iphone 3g. Next, I took out the end peice that contains the microphone and the speaker. Next, I popped out the 2 metal grates that protect the speaker and microphone. Next, I removed the plastic film on the inside of each grate. Then I put everything back together and it is super loud. Even louder than poking holes. Hope this helps!

@Alexcantu98 Herp derp awesome idea man except that doesn't make it any louder it only changes the levels at which the different noises in your music play and thus, your music will sound much different. For example any music with any bass will sound terrible on piano. But volume will stay the exact same.

after poking the holes I just decided to take the black cover off and pull off the speaker and mic membrane. The difference in audio was incredible!

man you are a life saver! this really works i opened the iphone so i just slid the black cover down to expose the little damn filters i took them completely off instead of poking them. either way if you poke it you wont mess up your speaker since the speakers aren't right at the bottom. anyways thanks sooo much stupid iphone i was going to throw it out the window cause i couldnt here shit!! now i have to lower it down cause its too loud. wow good job and dont be pussies out there just do it.

try using soundboost from cydia. i noticed youre jailbroken. this also works (with winterboard) nothing spescial canges for graphics... just a ton of improvement with sound

Yes, but I'm pretty sure that only the 2G has this problem (and I'm pretty sure it's the only one that even has speaker holes on it?) and if you have a 2G, unless you bought an Apple Care Extended Warranty, your warranty ran out long ago.

yes all the applcations, and music and styuff will work on it and it will still have wi-fi however it wont have a 3G network, and the only calls you'll be able to make is an emergeny like 911 or something.
