Is it that why loads of police forces all over the world use them? You see they tend to last forever and be very reliable mechanically, whereas those Japanese superbikes have a life lenght of 5 years tops.

Also, while BMW's flat twin was so successful it remained in production for years, and was copied by other manafacturers (including in the USSR during the Cold War), and won 19 MotoGP titles to Suzuki's 16 and Kawasaki's 9.

I'm not disagreeing with you; BMW makes great products all around. To say that Japanese super bikes have a life of 5 years top is a complete lie though. I have my 1998 ZX6-R and all my mechanics agree that it's in amazing shape despite it's age. I've only had to replace my chain as it had 20,000 miles, tires, rear sprocket, and fork seals. Definitely a better bang for the buck for those of us who don't want to get a second mortgage for a Ducati, BMW, Harley, etc.

And for the guy saying you need a 200+hp bike to hit 200mph... not true. TRE mod and simple bolt-ons such as full system, filter, pc or ecu editor, and aircraft oil can get you up to 207mph verifiable by gps. Check out the maxton mile! Busa's n 14's shouldn't worry about each other anymore... that damn Beemer is the fastest thing out there now! Props!

I took off lots of weight on my 14, I WEIGH 155 lbs. To me it feels as if Im just touching the ground from time to time lol, as far as open roads , yes they are what makes the 14 what it is ,but I wouldnt give up the twisties in Southern Oregon for nothing. I scraped my Alien Head this last summer, lil scarey , but the left hand twisties are in trouble!!

Why would you remove the butterflies and have a TRE box? The TRE does the job of opening up the secondaries immediately without you having to remove the butterflies.On my 2006 zx14, I have the TRE, SpeedoHealer at 21%, Brocks AlienHead exhaust, PowerCommander 3, and the ECU remapped to Brock's specifications. I had it dynoed at 208hp with premium unleaded and octane booster.

I drive on the highways down in southeast Texas where we have some serious stretches of open road, but on days when there is even a slight wind I can feel the front end getting light at high speeds.
