Just a quick thank you for everyone who's watched this and been able to love it as much as I do. One of very, very many gems that Silverchair have wrote. In my opinion, the best thing to ever come out of Austrailia, and the best band I've ever listened to in my life.
this was recorded during the "Neon Ballroom" sessions in 1998 and released as a b-side to the "Anthem For The Year 2000" aussie cd single, Jim from Midnight Oil played keyboards on it. as we all know Daniel is a huge MO fan, hence a big part of the sound of "Young Modern"
I don't know unfortunately. There's a acoustic version on the Best of which might be it, there's also a version on the Rarities album, which is different to the one on this video. I found this song because of my brother, he found it somewhere. I'm not sure if this is the version on the Best of, might be a b-side on a single, I'm not sure.
I can't agree with that. I love everything they've done. I can only admire their evolution. As much as style varies, it's always Silverchair to me. Without a doubt the greatest band I've ever heard in my life.
I know. There is not a single song by them I do not love! Daneil is just the best :] My favorite album is probably Freakshow because its just amazing. Freak and Cemetery are just a-fucking-mazing!
I know what you mean. I think the acoustic version shows more raw emotion. So I think the emotion's more believable. And the point you made about him sounding more defeated definately shows through.
yes I have to agree the acoustic version is so pretty, & he seems so much more defeated so it sounds so much more meaningful & so does the other version but it has more anger so to me it shows 2 different sides of his emotion in this song, don't mind me I'm just rambling LOL
My brother found it somewhere on the internet. There's also an acoustic version of this on the Rarities album but it includes some of the instruments you can hear in the original like some of the guitar. To be honest I much prefer this one because it's just acoustic, very beautiful. Just another song out of so many that accentuates the beauty of this band. Don't be confused if you think this is the music video because I made it.
I actually wept...

@st3al3
It was released on the Australian and Euro single of Open Fire alongside a acapella version of Anthem of the Year 2000.

Its about Anorexia. and its spelled Ana.

Indeed it is.
"Ana wrecks your life, like an anoxeria life."
Excellent metaphor.
Such an amazing musician.

Silverchair definitely deserves more credit. Daniel Johns modelesque looks are secondary to his great songwriting lyrics and musicianship!
