no they dont. all they need is a Solar panel a motor that will make it move and a capacitor i did not use a capacitor in one of my beam bots you can look at my video if you want to see. its on my profile
hey i just built the photopopper. about how long does it take to charge in full sunlight and does it work under a lamp or some other light besides sunlight?
yeah, at this time it only had one solar panel from a calculator, and it wasn't nearly enough. i recently added another one, and it works much better now.
the only bot from the book in this video is the symet. the photopopper and the walker are other designs with some modifications. i will make another video of some newer bots i made that are straight from the book to help people see what they should look like when their finished.
yeah, actually its a fantastic book. i really recommend it to anybody who wants to get into BEAM robotics. the projects in it are incredible as well. for example, it guides you through the process of constructing an advanced two motor walking robot with sensors. i recently built that, and im gonna make a new video with my new, more advanced robots.
that walker works great!what caps did you use on on the symet?

the third bot is not a beam bot!

i think i got one of those out of a solar powered calculator.

sorta looks like stop-motion................
darksharingan1998 3 years ago
it's not the bot moves like that because the copasitor charges and realises the electricity in stop motion like paterns

I'm amazed at the juice you got out of that small solar cell on the symet. Neat configuration for the caps on it as well.

Nice bots! I got this book from the library a while ago and I'm collecting parts for a Symet. That's a fabulous font! Freshbot, perhaps?

wow very impressed, i have the book and im planning on making the first one as soon as i get home for the summer.
gotta start breaking open some electronics to find the components...

@stackemtotheheavens1 Maybe try sizing down the capacitors as well
